We hired this company to build a roof over our gazebo. The job started Nov. 2022 and was completed March 2023. Description of job: Build roof over existing patio, with wood Vega's, and corbels. Roof will be decked with 5/8 t&g. We noticed cracking in the support beams, roof bowing, flashing is buckling around the entire structure, and roof is torquing towards the back of the structure just 5 months after completion. We hired a licensed contractor to inspect the roof, and in his report, he states the roof deck is bowing due to all of the rough-cut wood not being dry when built. It has caused all of the upright posts to crack as well as the corbels. All of the up rights and corbels are leaning towards the back of the structure. The roof material was not installed properly and due to that it is now buckling up as well as the flashing. This structure is substandard. *** ***** came and inspected the work. He took pictures and told me he would get back to me. This structure is unsafe and needs to be taken down and replaced. In addition to the money I have put towards this project, I am also pursuing the cost to have the structure demoed so can be rebuilt correctly. *** has been pretty much unresponsive to my emails and text messages. When he has contacted me, he is trying to lay blame on the primer/sealer we wanted used as it works with oil-based paint. He states this is not a sealer when it clearly states on the can that it is. Total funds I am requesting refunded is $6541. I have tried and am willing to work with *** to have this issue resolved. I told him I am willing to accept 3 payments of $2180. Without resolution, Civil court will be my next step and my offer to accept payments will be off the table.
