    I booked a trip to Italy for four people last year. I paid them a deposit of $2,479 on February 7, 2020. The trip was to start on May 16, 2020. Due to the pandemic, the trip was cancelled thru no fault of our own. Perilla kept saying that if I cancelled I would not get a full refund. Here we are, April 30, 2021 and travel restrictions to Italy are still in place until further notice. My 89 year old father no longer wants to go overseas due to his age and fear of becoming ill in a foreign country. I requested a refund. Perillo only refunded $2,079 and kept $400 for “administrative fees.” None of this is my fault. They have held on to my money long enough. I want the balance refunded to me...all of it.

    While the tour that I went on in Italy was superb, the lack of transparency and deception in the booking process was not. Several members of my tour group were told that you must book airfare through the agency to receive free airport transport. We later found our that airport transport was available to those booking themselves simply by providing flight details. I explained to the agent that I was a Mileage Plus member with United and wanted to be able to earn my miles and get possible upgrades. I was told that would not be a problem. I was quoted a price on United of $890.00 and $510.00 in taxes and fees. In a subsequent phone call with Perillo I was told that they did not book bulk flights but flights were individual to the client. When I contacted United about why I was having trouble upgrading, I was told it was due to the low bulk rate of $890 which was paid for my flight and that this included taxes and fees. During multiple correspondence with the company, the only explanation given for what the $510 was for was "Our airfares are not published air, we have contracted group fares."I would advise anyone booking a trip with this tour operator to book your own airfare. You will save money. The rating given is solely based on this lack of transparency and apparent deception. The tour itself and particularly the guide were exceptional.
