1 starI had a $340+ Credit Balance with Suburban Propane and without ever notifying me, they stopped mailing me my credit invoices and allegedly sent my money to Nevada Uncollected Property, (when they had my address to send my credit back to me). The *** and ** offices ignored my inquiries and phone calls. Turns out they never did mail my credit into ****** Unclaimed Properties, wasting mine and ******'s time. Suburban lied to me, and it wasn't until I contacted the Nevada Liquified Propane ********** that my credit was returned to me. No Emails, No notifications, No customer service...Suburban Propane, L.P.

We received a call from this customer stating his refund was removed from his account. We contacted Accounts Receivable and were told the account balance was classified as an escheatment of unclaimed funds. The funds would have to be recovered by the customer through the State of Nevada. The customer reached out to the State of the Nevada and was told he had no unclaimed funds. The customer was very upset and reached back out to us in the local office. We are still working on getting the customer his refund. On 8/15 we confirmed that a refund check was sent out on 8/6 as a courtesy since the original funds appear to have been lost to the State of Nevada.Review fromJoe B

1 starReally bad company. They inflate prices over state average and provide poor service. We switched companies because of their poor pricing and now we can not get them to get their tanks. It's been over 3 months and they never follow through with the pick up when they schedule it. Service *** states there are people waiting over 9+ months to get theirs picked up.Suburban Propane, L.P.

1 starI have a propane gas fireplace, primarily for a backup source of heat if our furnace should fail during the winter. Suburban bought out our original propane dealer, and charges $51.48 per year for tank rental. The last time we needed gas, they charged us $5.30 per gallon for 81.2 gallons. I checked, and the average price per gallon of propane in **** at that time was $2.72 per gallon. Once this gas ran out, I decided to change propane suppliers. I had a new tank installed, and I called Suburban to remove their tank. They removed the tank, and the very same day I received a bill from them for $112.25 to remove company owned tank. This included $95 for labor, $9.66 for a Transportation Surcharge, and $7.59 sale tax (during Ohio Sales Tax Holiday), Talk about abusing the small guy, and gouging prices!Suburban Propane, L.P.

Customer pricing is based off of volume and this is a no to low volume user annually. Annual tank rent and tank pickup fees are a standard practice for Suburban Propane as it is for many companies in the industry.T. B.

I have checked. Suburban Propane's practice of gouging the small volume user and charging for rental tank removal is NOT a standard practice for many companies in the industry, only the unscrupulous ones.Suburban Propane, L.P.

It is standard policy for most companies. Other companies may not be as transparent about the charge or apply it in a different way.Review fromStanley W

1 star7/28/2025 They just charged me $6.47/gallon to fill my propane tank. The current ********************** region average propane price is $3.02/gallon! Price gouging at its finest. It is time to look for a new supplier, although from what I have read, they do their best to make that painful too.Suburban Propane, L.P.

1 starIn Nov. 2024 we called to cancel deliveries and remove the tank. Did the same in Jan. 2025 . In Feb. talked to a manager and he promised to get tank removed in a week and told us that they owed us a credit of $917.58. Tank was removed in early March but they continued to send us bills for deliveries that never happened. Still receiving bills. In March talked to billing ***** and said that we did have that credit coming and said she marked it for a refund. In April we called again and talked to the same person. She checked our account again and said she doesn' t understand why check hasn't been sent. Yesterday we got another letter stating our account is past due for $799.52. I tried to call and the number in the letter didn't work. We were a customer with them for many years and never had a problem. The reason we cancelled was they changed their policy of sending the new contract by e mail instead of mailing it . The e-mail address was old and never tried contacting us other ways. When I called to complain they said there was nothing they could do because I missed the early sign up contract. That was a very expensive year since we had to pay full price for the propane. We'll never go back to this company.'ASuburban Propane, L.P.

Customer signed a prebuy contract. 11/21/24 Customer called and stated he went with a different company and that our tank was empty. On 12/16/24 we advised him that he signed a contract with pre-bought propane gallons but he did not care and as such he breached his contract. On 2/12/25 we spoke with customer to review again and on 02/25/25 tank was picked up. On 03/18/25 prebuy gallons were billed to the account by the prebuy department pursuant to the signed agreement.Review fromRichard R

1 starImpossible to say why but Suburban Propane delivery service has become totally unreliable. Two deliveries in a row were missed and required full deliveries at night. After the second incident, we had the delivery schedule changed to every 2 months instead of 3. Well guess what - that didnt work. The tank is empty again and were waiting on an emergency delivery. Really need to get their act together and quit overcharging for such poor service.Suburban Propane, L.P.

We have contacted the customer and went over his account. Customer was happy and we have updated the distribution center on this account with forecasting. We will continue to monitor this account and add a tank monitor.Review fromBRIANA S

1 starIf I could leave zero stars I would. The company has generic messages all over their system about how all they care about is "customer satisfaction" but all they care about is scamming people out of money. I don't get propane delivered unless I pay upfront for a full tank first. For the past 6 years I have always carried a credit on my account because I have never needed the full tank of fuel. instead of asking for my money back I always left the credit on the account. I got my last delivery in Feb 2025 and still have over half a tank left. I have received no letters, emails or notes on my door...I got ONE PHONE CALL with one voicemail A COUPLE DAYS AGO saying "this is suburban please calll us back" while I was working a 12 hour shift. They gave no other details in the message. Friday 5/2 while I was at work they came and locked my tank and I had no idea why. THEY ARE CLOSED SAT AND SUNDAY so I couldn't call them since I got home from work at 8pm Friday. Today they tell me when they delivered my propane I had a balance remaining of $91...which still makes no sense because they charged me a full delivery when I called to order. They shut my propane off on a Friday afternoon so I couldn't cook or shower for my kids all weekend or get ahold of them. I told the HORRIBLE person on the phone I am a single mother and that this is really messed up... I was happy to pay it no problem but very upset they shut it off. This lady said "I'm a single mom too but my bills are paid soo" ..... WORD FOR WORD I cannot believe that's how they handle customer service. she said I have to pay over $200 for them to come turn my tank back ON!!! but they come shut it off for free!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY DISCONNECTED THE SERVICES I PAID FOR!!!!!! all over $90 that I didn't know I owed and would have paid. they also have my saved credit card on file!!! DO NOT USE THEM FOR SERVICES I WILL BE SWITCHINGSuburban Propane, L.P.

1 starTerrible service. We used the service for fireplace and stove so we took a back seat to customers using it for heating. Canceled the service and they charged us over 100 dollars to close the account. would not recommend them.Suburban Propane, L.P.

We have a signed Service Agreement for this customer from ******** ******************** and we have a copy of the letter that was sent out in 2013 when ******** was acquired as part of an acquisition. This letter explains the Suburban terms and conditions for propane service. This customer is liable for the close out fee. We will call and explain this to the customer.Review fromMark A

1 starI understand why Surburban Propane is not a member of the Better Business Bureau. I was a good customer for over 31 years. Their prices are high so I was leaving them years ago for much better prices. As a result ********* gave me a much better deal to keep me as a customer, which I did appreciate. I was moving out of their service area and was closing my account and much to my surprise they were charging me $149.00 to close my account. The tank is buried and has been paid for years ago and Im sure they will not be digging it unless the new owner wants it removed. Which I highly doubt. I there is a way to get more money from you, these folks will use every excuse and scheme to get it. DO NOT USE SURBURBAN PROPANE *******Suburban Propane, L.P.

We charge this fee to all customers and are not singling him out. On the agreement it states subject to close out fees so it is made known ahead of time to the customer.
We do go out to read the tank and lock it off, so its more than just administrative desk work.
