Complaint Against DCH Paramus Honda – Defective Tires on New Vehicle

I purchased a brand-new 2021 Honda Insight from DCH Paramus Honda in April 2021. Naturally, the vehicle came equipped with brand-new all-season tires.

As of April 2025, my car has less than 35,000 miles, and I have taken proper care of the tires. I switch to winter tires seasonally, meaning the all-season tires have only been used for half of each year in New Jersey’s winter conditions.

On April 2, 2025, I visited Mavis for my routine tire swap. However, the technician informed me that my all-season tires were unsafe to install. Initially, I suspected they were trying to sell me new tires, but upon inspection, I saw that the tires were severely worn and had visible cracks.

When I asked how this could happen so quickly, the technician pointed out that the tires on my brand-new 2021 vehicle were actually manufactured in 2020. This means the tires were already a year old when I purchased the car. I feel misled and deceived by the dealership.

I immediately contacted DCH Paramus Honda through their website’s chat support. They assured me they would follow up, but I have not received any response. Given their lack of communication, I am concerned they will ignore my complaint entirely.

I am seeking reimbursement for the cost of replacing the defective tires, which amounted to $685. I have both receipts and photos documenting the condition of the tires.

Please see attached photos for the tires and communication with Honda.

I appreciate your assistance in resolving this matter.

Thank you for your time and help.

Please contact Continental Tire company.  They are the manufacturer of the tire.  Please understand you purchased your car 5 years ago.  We are not responsible any wear and tear on the vehicle as this a Maintenace issue.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

Even though the tire manufacturer is not Honda, it was obvious that they installed 2020 tires on my 2021 brand new car. I had attached the proof in my initial complaint.

They are trying to shift the blame to another company which is far from accountability on their side. They should be responsible for all parts of the car since I made business with the brand of Honda, not the tire company. Their response is an insult to one's intelligence.

Honda must provide a reasonable explanation and compensation since they sold me a car with older tires.

I’m not trying to insult you at all. This is 5 years later.  This is not the dealers responsibility.  Tires have wear and tear and if they are used too much or not used enough it can cause issues. I am willing to give you a discount at our service department. I cannot replace the tires free of charge. I’m sorry for any unconvinced this has caused.

    thank you

I bought a ******* SUV from Honda DCH Paramus in May 16 of 2024, listed as having 138K miles. I have proof of this from their sales associate **** *********** email to me, and have their original ad of this car I paid **** 7000$ check for the car I was given paperwork to sign that I was rushed to sign as I was told this car is great and has no issues, which ended up being a lie too In any case, the ** was broken which isn't the main issue here, but plays to this dealers sale associate character, and after arguing in the following weeks, I was told to bring it in and pay to have the ac condenser fixed , which I did In July, when they did the work they reported the mileage at 139K The reason this matters is this, when the title was ready for pick up, 3 months post purchase. It read 180K miles to my shock! As the ad for the car stated 138K miles so did the odometer at the time. I look back in a panic at the paper work, it says 180K miles. And car fax says 199K miles and notes mileage Inconsistency At that moment I found this out , I knew they'd got me. I was taken advantage of. I'm 70 and retired. Have heart and kidney disease. And care for my disabled son I was lied to by **** ********* of Honda DCH Paramus. This is a ***** fraud against me. I was sold a car that has 199K miles according to car fax. And 180K miles according to the title and paperwork. And it was listed as 138K miles by Honda dch , and the odometer ready 138K miles at day of purchase. Now 140K in october of 2024. When I caught this ***** Inconsistency I reached out to **** he didn't seem to care. He said trade it in if you want to but well only give you trade in value. Likely a fraction of the 7K I paid Took no responsibility for this ***** lie. That's ****** miles of a lie off the true 199K odometer reported by carfax to what Honda DCH Paramus listed I reached out to GM **** *****. He didn't respond I want a full refund and give the car ************* on ** Condenser

In early September 2024, I purchased a car from this dealer, and given 30 days temporary registration. I was assured that license plates and registration would arrive well before the temporary registration expired. This did not occur. I was then told the plates would arrive in the week after my registration expired. This also did not occur. Now, it is difficult to get an update or response on when my plates/registration will arrive, and consequently have no idea when I'll be able to drive this car, which is my only form of transport. I'm raising this complaint to get clarity on the situation and get it resolved quickly, due to the extreme inconvenience of the situation and the total lack of clarity from the dealer.

    Complaint: 22436462

I am rejecting this response because:

I have been told that the plates "will come in a few days" multiple times. The week of October 28th will be 3+ weeks I have not been able to drive my car, and the provided response provides no further closure compared to the other assurances I received. There is no confirmation other than the dealer's word that the plates will arrive at the time they say (which I have believed in the past on good faith).

While I understand this situation is not completely the fault of the dealership, I would like to request a refund on the fee paid for the dealer to handle registering my car, due to the extreme inconvenience. If I can get swift and clear closure on the situation, I will be satisfied with the response.

I went in to Paramus Honda to get some service done. They recommended to replace my break pads and resurface the rotors. I agreed and paid $408.94 for the front ones, and $399.95 for the back ones. About 3 months later, I went to get a oil change done at a different Honda Dealership, due to scheduling. Where they told me that my front breaks are at a 9/10, but my Left Rear is at a 5/10 and my Right Rear is at a 8/10. So I called Paramus to ask about the issue, and to my surprise the service advisor that had helped me, no longer worked there. So I spoke to another advisor, and they said "what do you want us to do". I want you to fix the problem... I asked why they are wearing unevenly, and they said it could be the calipers or the break fluid or some other issue, that they would have to diagnose it... and when I asked if other break components are checked when replacing the pads and rotors, they said no... now they want me to pay a $200 to figure out what the issue is, when i had already brought the car in for a issue coming from the same rear right side and had paid already for a diagnosis of the entire car, which they did not do. I understand that breaks wear the more you use them, but this is an obvious issue they don't want to take care of. If there was no issue with the calipers when they where replacing the breaks, then maybe the breaks where never replaced properly. and as the customer i have no way of knowing if they did a good job or not, because I rely on their honesty.

I purchased a 2025 Honda CR V on June 9 and was issued a temporary license plate expiring July 14. As of today my temporary plate has now expired. To find out the status of new plates I made numerous phone calls to several sales staff including a half dozen the past four days to ****************** which have not been returned. He did leave me one message Friday apologizing and said I should call him if I needed anything. I spoke with ******* Saturday who said they were expressing a new temp and I would have today - as of this moment I have not received anything. The lack of communication and customer service has been frustrating and stressful. I now have a new car I cannot legally operate.

    I am responding because:
This does not excuse the numerous lack of response by the sales rep and managers. I physically had to drive to the dealer with an expired temp plate on July 16 and with the help of *************** was able to obtain the new plates. He was most helpful and exhibited the level of customer service that should be expected.
I left two messages for the rep last week regarding questions about my new cars instruments - no response.

A title still has not been issued due to fault of the dealership. They took the vehicle as a trade in 1 week before I purchased on May 16 2023. After a not so pleasent sales process I signed the paper work and took it home. 3 weeks pass and no title arrives. I was unaware of any issues. I called, no reply. 2 days before expiration I was told to come pickup a 2nd set of temps that could ONLY be issued on date of expiration. I had to cancel a job. They claim the title had incorrect milage and tried to contact the pervious owner with no reply. I am now on my 3rd set of temps (Expire Aug 11) I was told I cannot have another set. I live 3 hours from the dealership ****** **) and am given less than 72 hour notice to travel down. I will be away during this expiration. This has put an extra **** miles on the vehicle, toll bills, full gas tanks, an early oil change and loss of income. I cannot sign up for emergency services without a real plate. I was told they will take a loss on the vehicle and I can be put into something else by my sales man, since then I have gotten no responses. Ive made payments on the vehicle and took out a loan, it will have to be sold out and reapplied for. I may not be accepted again due to my credit history, and my cosigner having a large debt to income ratio. There are safety concerns about the vehicle such as stripped and missing lug nuts/studs, and very uneven breaks and tires. There are electrical problems in the rear lights and steering wheel but I do understand it is used and will not be perfect nor covered under a warranty. It was listed under Safety Certified Vehicles on their website. At time of purchase I was informed they could not tell me what my payments and lease term will be until I called my insurance company to switch it over. I run a small business, and this has severely impacted my personal life, and my team. I am unsure who to reach out to local to the dealership as I live out of state.

I bought a used car from them three months ago. They do not have the title the car cannot be registered. I am stuck with a car that I cannot register because they cannot get the title from the previous owner. They been giving me temporary plates, but now they cant give me anymore. so they are not doing nothing to compensate me. They wont take the car back Im stuck with a car and a loan payment and I cant register the car or sell the car. They are car dealership and sold me a car that they have no title for. On top of that they made me pay them to get my plates and to register my car so I paid them for nothing. They rob me all around.
