The customer service person was polite while doing her job but the huge rate increase after not paying hardly anything on claims throughout the year is unacceptable! Will definitely need to find other coverage!

Subject: Unfair Denial of Disability Benefits by Mutual of Omaha
I am filing a complaint against Mutual of Omaha for unfairly denying my long-term disability policy by selectively using medical records, misrepresenting key facts, and failing to conduct a fair and impartial review.
My appeal covered February 2024 – July 2024, a five month period when my doctor cleared me to return to work. My attorney submitted a detailed appeal with medical statements, physician recommendations, and supporting exhibits.
Mutual of Omaha denied my appeal, claiming I could perform my job’s material duties. They requested additional medical records but later dismissed their relevance, contradicting their own request.
To directly address their concerns, my orthopedist provided a medical letter explaining that my MRI findings and symptoms made prolonged sitting impossible. Despite this, Mutual of Omaha upheld the denial without submitting this critical medical evidence for independent review company they used for reviews.
Additionally, they cited a phone call with my other physician, claiming he said I “could likely shift positions when sitting.” However, when I met with my doctor afterward, he explicitly denied making this statement. The third-party review firm hired by Mutual of Omaha falsely attributed statements to my doctor, which is a clear breach of ethical and legal standards.
My concerns regarding Mutual of Omaha’s handling of my appeal:
Selective use of medical records while ignoring key evidence.
Failure to submit critical documents for independent review.
      Misrepresentation of physician statements.
Lack of transparency and fairness in the appeal process.
Mutual of Omaha’s handling of my claim raises serious ethical concerns. I strongly urge businesses seeking short- or long-term disability policies to consider a more reputable and trustworthy insurance provider.

After being a paying Long Term Care customer for 25 years, unable to reach a customer service rep to start a claim. Have been on hold three times for over a half hour. Pressed 1 to request a callback which hasn’t happened

I have called several times today and asked to speak with a supervisor, five times I was denied and on the six times I was talking with a supervisor but before I could even state why he started talking, how rude is that, they want to sell you insurance and that's all, they don't listen to anything else and that's very disrespectful and disgusting plus just rude, I was planning on getting life insurance with them but they changed my mind and I rate the customer service and one of the supervisors a minus 0

We tried to get a loan for less than 80% of our homes value. Turn in countless paperwork they asked for paid and appraisal, that turned out good. They said we were good to go. Then need more documents, good to go, more stupid documents and then asked us to tear a garage down which was part of why we needed the money to have it tore down and rebuilt In first place.they are a joke in my opinion. String you along then tell you they keep needing more. Do not recommend to anyone.

Terrible, They mailed me a pamphlet in the mail for their hospital identity insurance. I immediately think and believe this is a good value as we have had Covid hospitalizations in the past. So I sign up and they approve it then after a 17 day stay in the hospital 6 months later they come back they I’m not qualified for the policy but they didn’t have a probably drafting avg payments for 6 months. Feel like the policy is misleading, false advertising and this lay you in 24 hours is for the birds it’s been 3 weeks and I have had to call multiple times to find out that they are not planning to pay me anything at all!!

buyer beware!! Read carefully the 1 star reviews on this forum. My wife who just completed her 2nd round of chemo was (we thought) a candidate for a claim after paying nearly $40000 over the course of 16 years. When we tried to initiate a claim we were challenged with a list of "qualifiers" longer than constitution and the bill of rights. After laboriously wading through the multitude of questions, we proceeded to the medical professional verifications that required all releases of all medical records for the previous 2 years. The company also needed physician statements justifying the need for the claim. I understand these needs no one should perpetrate fraud even on a multi billion dollar (51+ billion 2019) company. The kicker for me was when I was told I would have to provide 60 continuous days of PROFESSIONAL home health care before the policy picked up the responsibility. We live in a remote area where finding a professional home health aide is difficult at best at a cost of an average $21 per hour. 8 hrs * $21= $168 dollars per day X 60 days = $10,080 in additional cost!!! Now lets see we have just ran the gauntlet of 5 years medical and pharmaceutical cost on a retired fixed income, and now the "policy" we thought might be some relief is essentially out of reach. When I queried the agent about the closing the policy and (because there was never a claim) reclaiming some of the monies I was told if I closed the policy I would lose everything, there was no recourse to recovering the money. When I asked where the monies were the representative informed me they were held in my policy.
Friends I was never told by the agent about the "additional responsibility" If I had been I would have rethought the policy ; either paying an additional charge to get the cost of the homecare waived, or perhaps forgone the policy completely. Shame on you Mutual of Omaha shame on this Multi billion dollar Behemoth for playing games with peoples well being and finances. If you
