I applied for a short term loan of $2000 through next MAXLEND. After further review of my contract after making two payments almost the entire loan amount, I saw that I am being charged 641% interest, meaning Ill be paying almost $9000 for a loan not even a third of the price. I feel that its predatory, I can no longer afford to live I feel that its predatory of the payments I am making towards this loan. They do not offer extended payment or refinancing.Business Response

I didn't have terrible credit at the time when I requested a loan for 500 dollars. I have already paid 450 dollars and my principal is still at 600 dollars. I did not know that these were loan sharks who cared very little about the fact that I just needed money for food and gas. The interest on this loan is like 300%. By the time a pay this loan off this tribal company will receive about 1500 dollars. I can't believe I got taken advantage of like this and I want my payments to end please!Business Response

I was in a difficult financial situation and got a loan from Maxlend in the amount $1175. The terms werent clear at all and quite deceptive in nature. I was to pay ******. I thought it was once a month however to my dismay it was actually every two weeks. I was horrified when I finally got the payment schedule. It showed the moment the money I was funded into my account suddenly my loan balance was now over $1500 to pay off. That is extremely predatory, deceiving and seems highly illegal. I have paid approximately $2450 back to this loan so far and I still owe over $600 to pay off in full. Or I will have multiple more payments at ****** paying even more in this insanely high interest of over 650%Business Response

I borrowed $1900 for an bill on 3/04/2025. Here it is now 9/25/2025 . After 28 successful payments I have paid more that 6k on the loan and they say I owe another near 2k on the loan. upon research i have found that I have been subject to predatory lending fees which are illegial under california law as follows:In **********, a 564% interest rate on a loan is illegal in most circumstances, as it far exceeds the state's usury limits. The legality of such a rate depends heavily on who the lender is and the specific type of loan being offered. Usury laws in ********** For unlicensed lenders: An unlicensed individual or company generally cannot charge more than 10% annual interest on a loan for personal, family, or household use. A rate of 564% would be an extreme violation. For commercial loans: For loans not intended for personal, family, or household use, the maximum rate is the higher of 10% per year or 5% plus the *************** discount rate. A 564% rate would still be a severe violation.Business Response

I took a loan in the amount of $1000 for an emergency, the lender's 450% interest rate is predatory and illegally above Marylands cap of 33% Maximum of 2.75% per month, equivalent to an annual rate of 33% however, I have paid $1356.00 to date. I was targeted due to my poor credit rating. My principal has been paid and yet payments continue and remaining balance is $1472.12z This exploitative practice is ILLEGAL in the state I reside in. I will have no other choice but to submit stop payments via my bank and dispute the charges on my credit report.Business Response

I am filing a complaint against MaxLend regarding a loan that I believe was issued under misleading and predatory terms.I applied for a loan with MaxLend in a moment of financial distress. On their website, they prominently advertised lowest rates and positioned themselves as a fast cash solution. Based on the loan application process, I was led to believe I would be paying approximately $181 per month with a finance charge in the $120 range. However, after signing several documents on my phone (which were presented in extremely small font and embedded in a system that was nearly impossible to read or download), I later discovered that MaxLend is charging me $181 every two weeks instead of monthly. This payment frequency was never clearly disclosed up front and is highly *************** are the facts:I borrowed $1,000.I have already made four payments of $181 each (totaling $724).Despite this, my current balance is $1,143.This reflects an outrageous and deceptive annual percentage rate (APR), likely several hundred percent, which would never have been clear to a reasonable consumer under the circumstances.Additional concerns:I do not recall receiving a Truth in Lending disclosure or any clear statement of the true cost of this loan. All documents were digital, difficult to read, and not provided to me for proper review or download.I have not received payment statements, account summaries, or balance breakdowns via email or postal mail.MaxLend withdraws money directly from my bank account without providing me with clear notices or statements.I believe MaxLend has engaged in deceptive trade practices, misleading advertising, and predatory lending by failing to clearly disclose payment intervals, APR, and total repayment obligations. This loan has placed me in deeper financial distress than when I started.Business Response

I accepted a loan of $850.00 via telephone conversations and internet application, neither of these communications explained 500% interest rate and I never agreed to twice a month with different payment amounts $300 on the 1st and $550.00 on the 29th, I don't even get paid like that. I was lied to and mislead. And i'm sure its not legal to 500% interest.Business Response
