Had car taken to Precision tune ************** 4/21/22. The did oil change, transmission fluid 4 wheel alignment, R&R control arm, front left lower suspension, Frt axle R&R D/*** axle Fl cv axle left after they had it for 2 days, still made popping noise, took it back, on my birthday 5/31/22, stated they lubed and tightened undercarriage still made the popping noise. I was out of town for a few months and I come back.. still making the popping noise.. so I took it for a second opinion when the next oil change was due.. the mechanic looked at my undercarriage and stated its OBVIOUSLY EASY TO SEE THE CROSS MEMBER IS NOT SECURED PROPERLY!! My entire engine could have fallen out!! I drive my kids in this vehicle!! I paid over 1600$ for this?!? Are your mechanics even licensed?! Have experience?!? Im told I should not drive this vehicle!! Its UNSAFE TO DO SO!! I want a solution!! I want my car fixed!! PROPERLY! And after seeing some of the reviews of the week, forest location in **************, I am appalled, and Im really questioning if any of that work was even done and if I found out that I got charged for work that wasnt done to my vehicle. You can bet I will file a lawsuit, I am a single mom I am not playing when people take money from me and my children safety is on the line and my life is on the line, considering I have children to take care of! I need someone to contact me ASAP. I have already called Customerservice and left voicemails. I have called the store and all it does is ring, and when I get a person they put me on hold for an hour. I really dont think you would have this many customer complaints. If actually, you hire dependable people who have experience doing this job instead of wanna be mechanics I dont know if their arm from their **** hole !!Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:****** from Precision Tune did have my vehicle towed at their expense due to another mechanic telling me that my car was unsafe to drive. **** from the PT auto shop in North ******* called me the other day and stated after he looked over my vehicle, **** proceeded to inform me that all of my Bushings needed to be replaced!!! For a total of 800$$ more dollars out of my pocket. Being a single mom of 2 on a budget I cannot afford to have my vehicle fixed by them again when it cost me $1600 the first time and it's still not right. So, I started doing some research on my vehicle and I went over in the ****** Manual for my make and model car and looked up exactly the procedures on all the work that was done already by them. In the ****** manual it states clearly that upon inspection of the vehicle's Steering and suspension system, it clearly states that the mechanic should check ALL bushings, and if any are worn or damaged, they are to be replaced!!! As for the Axles it states that if the bushings are bad then the axles should be replaced because the bushings were not replaceable. I am unsure why they replaced the front R&L suspension control arms; this vehicle was hardly driven when I bought it, ************* stated there was no signs of rust!! But instead of inspecting everything before replacing everything, I now have the issue of my car being unsafe to use and more $$ to fix it!
This was not what was done when the *********** Precision Tune initially fixed $1,600 worth of front end and suspension work!! No one inspected the proper things, all that was done was replacing main expensive parts on my vehicle. Considering that the Bushings were initially overlooked, and I was driving that vehicle with my CHILDREN in the car the whole time while it's unsafe for me to operate it! My whole engine could fall out completely!! I am BEYOND upset about the way this was handled, and the audacity that this company has to even suggest that I pay extra $$ for something that they should have caught from the very beginning.
To me I was charged excessively most likely for parts that shouldn't have needed to be replaced to begin with, instead my bushings should have been inspected and replaced first!! Especially when I bring it into your shop twice and the same complaint..... Car is shaking and popping on gas Excelleration, and when going over bumps, lots of popping from front end, there is absolutely no reason I should have had to take my car there twice, much less a third time, and I should not have to battle back and forth or pay for an error that was made by precision tune!!
I have attached the ****** manual directions as well as the new price quote that was given to me by **** at precision tune.
At this point in time the only thing that will solve this issue will be if Precision tune fixes my car completely at NO COST to me!! This I believe is only fair considering they missed diagnosed and did not do their jobs properly
Sincerely,
***********************Initial Complaint

My car was taken in for an oil change, and three hours later my engine was knocking and broke down. They offered to have the car towed and relooked at in order to find the problem. If it was not on them I would have to pay for the tow. We heard nothing and then we were told to wait on a district manager. While waiting we were told by a mechanic that they may have put the wrong fluids in. When this was brought up the district manager told us that the mechanic did not mean to say that. we were told my engine was "filled with sludge and this was on me". when my husband went to pick up the car he was told "there is no sludge it was just a coincidence that my car shut off" by the same mechanic. I went to pay the tow fee and was told that "there is metal in the oil pan" but also that nothing was taken apart to see that. So how this was seen could not have been possible. I was told that since nothing was logged into the *** *** it was improper maintenance. We usually do my own oil changes so ****** would not have that information. my last oil change was at 60,000 so it was due. the claim that we said 50,000 is incorrect. My car was taken for a second opinion in which we were told there was no oil but transmission fluid in my oil reserve instead. the reason for the knocking is due to the fact wrong fluids were put in the engine and blew the engine. we were told that this information was incorrect and a solution is not being resolved. we have been left with out a car for a week now and were told that it was not their fault we didn't have a way to get around because of we took it to them, they also blame the make and model of my car. there are no recalls on my car or the same model. as proven by the second opinion and the dealership I bought it from.Business Response

I am terribly sorry to hear about this situation. Unfortunately, I was not able to pull up any customer service history using this person's name or phone number. If someone could provide me the customer's name as it appears on our invoice or the phone number as it appears on our invoice, I will be able to investigate this matter. I also need to know which our locations this consumer visited.Customer Answer

The customer is saying that we installed the wrong fluid in their engine. Unfortunately, what the customer is stating simply isn't true. We installed 4.2 quarts of 5w20 engine oil which is what both our computer system and the vehicle manufacturer calls for. The problem stemmed from a major oil sludge build up inside the engine. The oil sludge build up was caused by a major lack of oil change services being performed. The vehicle was purchased by the customer on 11-30-20 with a mileage of 29,213. The vehicle now has 64,427. That is a mileage difference of 35,214 miles. There should have been a total of 7 oil changes in that mileage range. There've only been 2!! The first oil change was performed on 3-22-21 at 34,849 miles. Our oil change (which was the second service) was performed on 1-3-22 at 64,427 miles. That is a mileage difference of 29,578 miles! According to the manufacturer, this vehicle should have the motor oil changed every 3,000-5,000 miles depending on how the vehicle is driven. When asked by our district manager about previous oil change history, the vehicle owner could only tell us that he changed his own oil at 50,000 miles. If that were true, the vehicle is still being driven 15,000 miles between oil change services. When asked again about the vehicle's oil change history, the vehicle owner could not produce past oil change records showing where the vehicle's engine oil had been changed. We are sorry that the customer and vehicle owner is having to deal with a situation like this. Unfortunately, their engine failure was a result of them not properly servicing their vehicle and not a result of our oil change service or anything that we've done. We will not be providing the necessary repairs at our expense nor will be paying for another repair facility to complete the repairs.Initial Complaint

I received an alignment, new tires and other services on 5/18/22 totaling 1,774. Tires have a 45k manufacturing warranty. 12/20/2022 with 20k miles I currently need new tires and an alignment. Precision Tune has stated my tires were not rotated enough and to much air was put in the tires causing me to need new tires. The tires were rotated and air was put in the tires accordingly. There is no way the tires should be bad less than 5 months even if the roads are bad. I have not been driving on a dirt road or a graveled road. The tires had to be bad/defective or the alignment had to be off. $1774 worth of work should not be undone within 6 months. Precision Tune's solution: Get new tires and the recommended alignment.Business Response

The rear tire is prematurely worn in the center of the tire which is an indication of over inflation and not because the wheels/tires are out of alignment. If this was an issue of the wheels being out of alignment, either the inner or outer tread would be worn and not the center tread. The outer edges of tire tread are where they should be for a tire that's been driven on for 24,247 miles. This customer purchased the tires on 5-18-22. Since then, this vehicle has not been seen by any of our repair centers for tire maintenance (rotations, balancing or alignments). At this point, there is nothing that we can do for the customer. We are sorry that the customer has to deal with a situation like this. Unfortunately, he will need to take this matter up with whom ever he's been taking his vehicle to that has over inflated his tires.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:The fact that the maintenance of the vehicle was not completed by Precision Tune does not excuse the fact that maintenance was completed. Nearly two thousand dollars worth of work was completed at the very least the tires should've held for 50k miles. That's an awful lot of money to spend for tires/alignment to last 24k miles. It wasn't the dealer providing the maintenance that cause the wear on the tire. It was the quality of the tire provided by Precision Tune. At the least Precision Tune should provide new tires.

We do not require that the vehicle be brought back to a Precision Tune Auto Care center for the tire maintenance. Any reputable automotive center the customer sees fit can perform the required tire maintenance. The Sailun Atrezzo tires the customer purchase comes with a 45,000 mile limited warranty from the manufacturer. A limited warranty is a warranty against any kind of defects in the tire. That normally does not cover any premature wear due to lack of tire maintenance, incorrect tire maintenance or any other mechanical issues the vehicle may be experiencing. The customer will need to reach out to Sailun to have any warranty issues addressed. They will likely inform the customer of the same findings that we have in that the center of the tire tread is worn prematurely because the tire pressure has not been properly maintained. An over inflated tire will cause the center of the tire tread to wear prematurely. Just as an under inflated tire will cause the outside edges of the tires to wear prematurely. Again, we do apologize but there is nothing that we can do as the tires have not been properly maintained with the proper air pressure.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:Stating there's nothing Precision Tune can do is disingenuous. Precision Tune could atleast provide new tires. Proper air pressure/rotation was maintained. The only other explanation was improper alignment or defective tires both which was performed by Precision tune. Precision has opted to select profit of people. To choose profit over a repeat customer is not the best business practice.

On December 8th, 2022, I took my car to Precision Tune located at **** * ***** ******** *** ** for a routine oil change and tire rotation. I received a call saying that everything was fine with my car but that the front trim somehow came off when they were shutting the hood. The front trim was completely fine before taking the car in. This is the case because the front trim that came off couldn't even be reattached and thus would have fallen off the car had it been damaged before going to the Precision Tune Auto Care center at **** * ***** ******** *** ** location. I asked the manager, *****, if they were going to fix it or glue it back on and he stated no. He handed me the broken piece and attempted to blame the piece for breaking despite the piece being fine when going in. He also refused any discounts or coupons despite damaging my vehicle. I am utterly and thoroughly upset as my car was perfectly fine before going into Precision Tune but left with a very visible issue. The piece looks as if it broke because the hood was slammed exceptionally hard. Customer Service was rude and ***** and the man behind the counter seemed to almost smirk as they talked to me and my witness as if we were children. This was my first time ever using Precision Tune and it will certainly be my last.Business Response

Good afternoon Ms. *****,
We certainly apologize for any trouble that you had with your vehicle and any misunderstanding with *****. However; after reviewing the video recording of the service performed on your vehicle we see only that the work was performed normally. There was not any "slamming of the hood". When you authorize the work to be performed on your vehicle, you authorize us to operate your vehicle in a normal manner to complete the services that you would like for us to perform. For example if in performing a state inspection we turn on the lighting to make sure that it is operating and while the head lights are on, one of the lights blows it. That would not be our fault. In the same fashion, we have to open and close the hood in order to change the engine oil. The grill is made of plastic and plastic gets brittle over time from the heat of the sun and the engine. In respect of you as our customer, if you will pay for the part, then we will install the part no charge.
Sincerely,
***** and *****
