Started an application process on the website. I have since gone another route and was unable to stop the process on the website due to a constant barrage of SPAM emails.When I called the business, I was advised to contact the property to stop the process. The company does not control what their website does.I was completely flabbergasted that the owner of the website has no control over their website. When I persisted on this issue the representative became combative, rude, and argumentative with **** find this shocking for a BBB business.Business response

This company began calling people using telephone numbers not supplied to them by me and leaving voice messages on voicemail on which they have left messages with my name despite absolutely not knowing who they are calling nor with my authorization. This violates the Fair Credit Act and multiple federal and state lawsBusiness response

We have completed our investigation into your complaint. Upon reviewing the phone calls, we did not find that our agents acted inappropriately. There were no negative comments recorded and your application was approved. There is no FCRA prohibition on contacting the property owners.

I have applied for an apartment with my father on May 16. To this date June 24 they have not processed his background. The keep saying they are waiting for ********** county to submit documents but my dad physically went to Sacramento county and got the paper work and fax it to them. They are saying it is not enough and they are saying they need to verify date of birth. They never notified ** of the issue and what is exactly needed and Sacramento county says they never heard from them. They are providing the rental place and me different information and giving ** the run around. They are not processing the information or doing the leg work. My father has no criminal background and he previously worked for the state before he retired. This should not be an issue that takes over a month to be processed and it is still not processed. We need it so we can move into *************. It is holding us back and costing money. File #3E68A0Business response

We apologize for the delay in getting your background checks completed. When processing the application, we need to follow the **** guidelines and processes regarding any and all information. We have received notification from the ********** Court Clerk regarding the delays, "Please be advised, we cannot provide any ETAs for ********** requests as we are the mercy of the court to make the files available to ** for viewing. Sacramento County has not ended COVID restrictions even though mandates have been lifted. Obtaining case data is delayed to due significant court imposed barriers. Some searches may take months to complete due to partial court closures related to COVID.
Case data, in these counties, comes from the court system via the clerks. There is no public access terminal for case data. Researchers submit lists of possible cases and the clerks print dockets (as time and their other duties allow).Covid restrictions and quarantines have intensified the usual delays and created an ever-growing backlog and there is no alternative data-source. Sacramento county made the decision to redact the date of birth from criminal records, which is why we requested to verify your father's date of birth. By redacting the birth dates from the records, it has put massive amounts of research on the court clerks.We request our information electronically, so if you spoke to someone at the county directly, they would not know if we had requested information.
We apologize that we were not able to provide a faster turnaround time in getting your report back in a timely manner.

I am rejecting this response because:
We called the rental history reports office and they did not notify us of this at all. This seems like an excuse after the fact. They told us they pulled up criminal cases on my dad that they were verifying with ********** county. We notified them that there is no criminal cases and said we can go down to sac county ourselves to submit proof. They said we were welcome to submit docs and We did this after they failed to complete the background the first time they said they will have it done on June 20th. We got the proof from sac county with the official seal and sent it to them. They said that was not enough so we went back and were able to get a letter from the ** to show he has no criminal record. After that they still stated it does not match what they have and they will not accept it and that they were waiting for sac county. While they taking their time with this process that started May 16 and was completed July 8th, i had to pay a whole months rent to stay at my old place I was supposed to move out June 26 and then it was approved mid July so I had to strain myself financially to get into my new place as soon as possible. Their negligence in doing their job cost me time and money.Initial Complaint

Rental History Reports provided incorrect information to a property management company I submitted an application to. The report they provided states that I owe a balance to an apartment complex however, I do not. I contacted them several times to dispute the matter and I was advised to send a letter verifying that I do not owe a debt to them and I did. Not only did I never receive a response I called numerous times and I was never connected the “dispute team” and no one could verify whether this document was received or my application was updated. This has not only caused me to lose $50 for applying for the rental property but I cannot reapply for 30 days. The rental property will also not accept any documents from me they will only go by the rental history report with the false information. I would like this updated and my application approved as I do qualify. This is not fair and unethical practice.Business response

2021=2018 'Compliant of the Unfair business practices of a Rental Screening Agency. 'Stating that I have made numerous requests to the Business for the removal of my personal identifiable information from their Database Systems. Hello,
Our records indicate that you requested to have your SSN removed from our system, which was completed. We like to advise applicants that, unlike the credit bureaus, we do not maintain information on consumers and disseminate it to other organizations. When screening an application, the results are only provided to the landlord or employer that requested the screen after we obtain the consumer's consent. It is never used for any other purpose.

'Stating that I am a past victim of Identity Theft, and are trying to protect my personal information from future theft or discovery (ie: DOB, Bank Accounts, Former Addresses, Employment Information, SSN).
