Dear ******,
Your BBB complaint #******** is regarding the used vehicle you purchased from CarHop on 01/28/25. The vehicle purchased included a 7-day money back guarantee and an 18-month / 18,000-mile limited warranty.
It is unfortunate that over five (5) months after purchase you are not satisfied with the price you paid. CarHop clearly discloses the price the vehicle at the time of sale. First, in the Non-Binding Offer to Purchase document. Second, in the Retail Purchase Agreement document. You signed both documents with your approval.
At the time of sale, CarHop shared with you how the limited warranty works and provided you a copy of the contract you signed. Page 6 of the contract, initialed with your approval, states your obligations related to the limited warranty including taking the vehicle to CarHop-approved service shop for diagnosis if you have vehicle concerns. Our records indicate that CarHop has honored the contract and the limited warranty.
On 02/26/25, you contacted CarHop with vehicle concerns. CarHop advised you that the first step in the limited warranty process is to take the vehicle in for diagnosis at a CarHop approved service shop or take it to a local auto parts shop for a free code reader. CarHop received no vehicle diagnosis. Please note that driving a vehicle that you think may have an issue may cause further damage.
Since purchase, as a courtesy, CarHop has provided two (2) payment adjustments to assist your finances. On 07/15/25, also as a courtesy, CarHop offered to tow the vehicle for you and pay for a vehicle diagnosis. CarHop will continue to honor the limited warranty. If you would like another copy of your signed contract, please contact CarHop at ************.
Sincerely,
**** *****

Dear *******,
Your BBB complaint #******** is regarding the used vehicle you purchased from CarHop on 12/05/24. The vehicle included a 7-day money back guarantee and an 18-month / 18,000-mile limited warranty.
At the time of sale, CarHop shared with you how the limited warranty works and you initialed the limited warranty page of the contract with your approval. CarHop provided you a copy of your signed contract and limited warranty that same day. While it is unfortunate when a used vehicle has an unforeseen mechanical issue, our records indicate that CarHop honored the contract and the limited warranty.
Shortly after purchase, CarHop replaced the transmission, honoring the limited warranty. Since purchase, as a courtesy, CarHop provided five (5) payment adjustments to assist your finances.
On 05/27/25, nearly six (6) months later, CarHop received a vehicle diagnosis which indicated the vehicle had been driven over ***** miles since purchase. The diagnosis listed numerous general maintenance items which are not covered by the limited warranty and it was unclear if the transmission was an issue. CarHop informed you that the non-covered items were your responsibility and provided you a courtesy payment adjustment to assist your finances.
On 07/16/25, you spoke with ********* ******, CarHop Manager. In that call, as a courtesy, CarHop offered to pay for the cooling fan repair and a transmission flush due to the delayed shop diagnosis. CarHop will continue to honor the limited warranty and any non-covered items will be your responsibility.

**** in to purchase a vehicle after my bankruptcy was discharged. I explained why I had filed because of a voluntary repossession. That vehicle was is death trap. I was told because I was a VIP I might be able to get a car. Then the sales person didnt understand my pay stubs. After that another sales person comes out and tells me Im not approved because of repossession and another negative issue. So they dont approve everyone I do feel discriminated because of my credit which I was totally up front with. I was always on time with my payments with Car Hop so I do find their decision very offensive. This is really how they treat VIP customers. I believe they owe me an apology and a better explanation for their decision.Business Response

Dear *****,
This response is regarding the BBB complaint you submitted (#********) regarding your recent finance application at CarHop.
On 06/20/25, you visited the CarHop location ******, **********, and submitted a finance application. We researched your concerns and determined that while your credit and vehicle ownership history does have some negative elements, a rare manual error caused your application to not be approved on 06/20/25. To correct it, CarHop provided internal training regarding this rare instance and contacted you to invite you to return to re-finalize your application and help you get approved.
On 06/27/25, you returned to CarHop to be approved and purchased a vehicle. Thank you for doing business with CarHop.
Sincerely,

Me and my wife bought a car from there in November of 2024 and the engine blew up a few months ago. They replaced the engine with a used one and we have been having issues with it ever since they replaced it. The car is jumping when you turn it off the heat/ac/ radio only work half of the time (we never had any issues with them before they replaced it) there is an oil leak causing us to have to put oil in it every couple of weeks and the transmission is leaking oil out as well. Now they are refusing to fix the faulty engine that they put in the car.Business Response

Dear *******,
Your BBB complaint #******** is regarding the used vehicle you purchased from CarHop on 12/01/23 and the Retail Installment Contract was assigned to ******************************** (MN) d.b.a. CarHop Finance. The purchase included both a 7-day money back guarantee and an 18-month / 18,000-mile limited warranty.
At the time of sale, CarHop shared with you how the limited warranty works and you initialed the limited warranty page of the contract with your approval. You were provided a copy of the signed contract and the limited warranty at the time of sale. The limited warranty page of the signed contract states that you are not entitled to recover costs for any consequential damages which includes any rental expense you decide to incur. While it is unfortunate when a used vehicle has unforeseen mechanical issues, our records show CarHop has honored the contract and the limited warranty.
In June 2024, CarHop paid to replace the transmission and honoring the limited warranty. Ten months later, a vehicle diagnosis dated 04/21/25 indicated the vehicle was driven over ****** miles since purchase. Therefore, the limited warranty expired due to mileage.
Since purchase, solely as a courtesy, CarHop Finance provided multiple payment adjustments to assist your finances. I am rejecting this response because:
I just want to start this with I appreciate all the time CarHop ***** and ********* has taken with me the customer service has been great. However the 1800 is too much for us to pay. The truck is not even worth that and honestly paying finance charges at this point is just not even worth it after all the time we went without our vehicle our Jeep while it was in the shop while we paid for rental cars we paid over $3,400 for that.Thank You

Dear *******,
Your Better Business Bureau (BBB) Complaint #******** is regarding your purchase of a used vehicle at CarHop on 02/22/24 and the Retail Installment Contract assigned to ******************************** **** d.b.a. CarHop Finance, account #******. The vehicle included a 7-day money back guarantee and an 18-month / 18,000-mile limited warranty.
The Retail Installment Contract you signed obligated you to make scheduled bi-weekly car payments beginning 02/29/24. Your account fell over ***************************** February 2025. CarHop Finance made numerous attempts to contact you. The last payment CarHop Finance received from you was a partial payment on 03/24/25, leaving your account to remain past due with a remaining balance. A Right to Cure notice was mailed to your mailing address on file on 03/24/25 which stated a due date of 04/14/25 and the amount needed to bring your account current. No further payments were received. The vehicle was repossessed on 04/29/25 due to lack of payment.
Your BBB complaint claims that you paid CarHop Finance $1,000 on 04/19/25. On 04/29/25, you spoke with CarHop Finance via phone and CarHop Finance asked if you had a payment receipt of any kind to provide for review. You declined the option to provide a receipt.
