      Can never get them to answer the phone. They never called us to notify us that we need to make a payment because ours was returned and instead canceled our insurance without notifying us. We have been calling to pay our balance for weeks but no one will answer the phone. We switched to a different company but need help resolving the billing issue we have with them

      To whom it may concern,

      North Star Mutual has a live operator as well as available back-up receptionists to direct calls during business hours. There are also several options to pay bills, including online, over the phone or by mail. The customer is currently signed-up for our *** (automatic withdrawal) option. As standard practice, the customer was notified of payment due on multiple occasions: On 9/30, the customer was sent a regular EFT bill that showed a withdrawal amount of $591.48 was going to happen on 10/20. That withdrawal was returned *** and then re-sent one time (which is our normal process as a courtesy). The resend was then returned *** and was processed on 10/29/24. That night a cancellation bill generated with a due date of 11/12/24. As that bill went unpaid, the policy then cancelled on 11/12/24. The new account balance was then billed out on 11/27/24 as a final bill, and that also went unpaid. Our collect bill (which tells them if it is not paid, we'll send to collection) went out on 12/30/24. If no payment is received by 1/21/25, it is our normal process to send to our collection company within a week or so of that due date. Bills and notices have been mailed to the customers address.

      My rooftop and siding were damaged by hail and wind two times and they have denied both times for repairs

      To whom it may concern,

      Mr.***** has filed two claims with North Star Mutual: a hail claim in 2017 and a more recent claim this fall, both of which have resulted in payments. During the inspection of the most recent claim, the assigned adjuster did not find evidence of recent hail damage to the dwelling. However, he did identify a small section of wind-damaged siding on the garage and subsequently submitted an estimate to replace all the siding on that elevation of the building.

      Mr.***** and his contractor were present at the time of the inspection and the scope of the damage was discussed in detail. Payment was mailed to Mr. ***** on October 9th.

      A month later, Mr. ***** contractor provided additional photos, suggesting that the roof and all the siding needed to be replaced. The contractor also submitted an estimate that was 20x greater than the original estimate. Due to this significant discrepancy, the claim has been re-assigned to another adjuster for re-inspection and remains open.

      I purchased home owners insurance from North Star Mutual. My homes roof was damaged by wind and hail on or around May 30th of this year. I had talked with two different roofing contractors about the damage both stated the roof will need to be replaced. I chose one local contractor to do repairs but the insurance company stated there isnt enough damage. Neighbor homes with similar and less damage have been replaced yet mine is still waiting for my insurance company to meet with my contractor to come to an agreement. My contractor stated he is unable to match my existing shingles so to age and availability. Insurance adjusters dodge my calls and fail to call my contractor when I request them to.

      The original inspection of Mr. ******* dwelling found that there was minor wind damage to the roof, with a cost to repair falling below the policy deductible. A different adjuster met with the insureds contractor fore a re-inspection of the property and came to the same conclusion. Repairs with available like, kind and quality shingle would be feasible. As the repairs fall below the policy deductible the claim will remain closed accordingly.
