I am filing this complaint about American Realty ************. My roommates and I submitted a maintenance request for what we thought was a leak from our fridge, so a maintenance worker came to check it out. He was in our home for around 10 minutes, and found that it was actually just spilled salad vinaigrette. He did not clean it up nor make any fixes to the fridge or the floor. We just received an invoice for $65 for this, yet we looked in our lease and on the maintenance section of their website and could not find a place where it stated that it would be charged for a maintenance service call. The lease and website only states we will be charged for damages caused by us, not for service calls. I called American Realty and spoke to *******, he told me that this is their standard charge. When I asked why the price isnt stated anywhere, he went on to say if your fridge was broken you wouldnt know the price of that either. Yet, these two situations have no correlation. Any previous issues we have had with this company have always been met with an uncooperative spirit on their behalf. This is just one of the predatory practices weve encountered with them since entering our lease last year. I am filing this complaint because there is nothing in our lease or on their website stating that we will be charged for a fee dealing with a service call with no repairs needed.
