Our old AC unit failed in may of 2024, we called vanderhyde to service. said that the unit needed to be replaced . $6K later and sent in warranty for new Daiken unit. service was complete and seemed fine June 2025 with temperatures in the upper 90s for 3 weeks that Daiken unit fails, Vanderhyde wants $100 for service fee. then tell us that the coils are out and warranty doesnt cover labor or refrigerant . Need $2600 to fix.??? (a 1year old unit?? ) They do Not stand behind the unit they sold us not the warranty that we bought.

Beware! Placed a service call for our 3.5 year old central air unit. I was presented 5 options for repair of our “voltage enhancement system” ranging from $487-$1460. I asked about the lowest priced option and the service technician said he didn’t recommend that option because if the part failed shortly after instillation then they couldn’t help me. Turns out this job was actually a simple capacitor exchange and the part was under warranty. I was charged $610 for the warranty job to replace the capacitor which took ~2 hours. After reviewing the 5 tier pricing plan with another HVAC company they explained this was a deceptive presentation of the problem and a way to upsell the issue. I explained my concerns with the company and that I felt misled but they didn’t see an issue and offered no recourse.

*****, I'm sorry to hear that you were unsatisfied with our services. Unfortunately, with inflation and backed up manufacturing, cost of services has gone up significantly, and we can't do much about that if we want to remain competitive within our industry. That is why we go over all options before performing any work is a no surprises, which means we believe in giving options upfront so that there is never a concern about what it is going to cost.

Beware ! Called for a service call on my generator. Two techs came out same day. The techs were friendly and helpful but it turned out that it was merely an electrical plug that had vibrated loose . They were here literally 5 minutes . I was charged a "diagnostic fee" and the total was $380 to literally just reinsert a plug . Completely outrageous pricing that takes advantage to people who are in a jam due to a power failure . This was unfair and unethical. Never again .

Contacted them for plumbing - have used them before. Technician went to the wrong door - charged me ****** for and completed no work. ****** (office manager) said that she KNOWS (without even talking to technician but because theyve been in business for 35 years) that he went to the right door - considering that there are 4 doors and she did not herself observe him going to any door. Poor customer ********************** - money trap considering they can say theyre on scene but really arent - use caution.

We had a backup only a few weeks after having our septic tanks pumped. I called VanderHyde thinking there might be a blockage in our main line. VanderHyde charged $571 to snake the main line without doing anything to diagnose the issue or investigate the symptoms. This was the cheapest of their options. Big surprise...he snaked it and the issue persisted. ****, $571 just disappeared. It would have been more productive for me to use that money as toilet paper. VanderHyde's cheapest package to use a camera was $1,000+. So, you have to pay for VenderHyde's most expensive service in order for them to take basic steps to identify the issue? On top of this, the VanderHyde employee would not stop asking questions about the condition and age of my water heater. Water is backing up into my house and you're trying to upsell water heater service. Read the room a bit...I feel really dumb now, but it's an exploitative business practice. I will never use VanderHyde again. For any reason. Turns out, it was an issue with our drain field. I called ***** and they were knowledgable, helpful, and reasonable. They were able to use the right equipment to identify the issue and were very reasonably priced.

From my experience, if you are interested in heat pump water heater installation, do not bother getting a quote from VanderHeide.
While their website contains much information on heat pumps and heat pump water heaters, the staff that came to give a quote were argumentative, dismissive and aren't current on reliability or products.
They will charge you $99 to do the quote. I have not received the detailed quote I was expecting (the apprentice showed me on his tablet a lump sum of good, better and best and asked if my e-mail was correct) so I could review in detail what appeared to be terribly high lump sum estimates. (They were out a week and a half ago) I was also expecting a receipt for the "quote".
I would suggest VanderHeide either scrub the heat pump information from their website, or state clearly they do not install these products or provide their staff with information on the pros (and cons) of the products and what may be good options for the homeowner. Otherwise, they waste their valuable time and yours.

Vanerhyde practices price gouging and has unqualified technicians! Had problem with heater in February. Vanderhyde sent 2 techs who said I needed a new heat sensor and installed a generic part. They also said the problem is being caused by clogged heat vents. They chaged $200 for heat sensor part and $200 installtion. Then they had over a $500 for vents which they quoted approx $200. I called and complained on the charges and they reduced bill to $600 total. It's December and I have the problem agian. Vanderhyde came out and daignosed for over an hour. He came back with an $1,800 estimate for a bunch of service I did not need. I asked what would it cost to just get working agian. He would have to replace the heat sensor again. He quoted over $200 to install and $300 for the manufacture heat sensor because the one they installed was generic. He also said the technician in Februay was new and should not have installed this one. I said I was asking for another opinion and paid the $100 service call. I called Hendricks H&C. Technician diagnosed and worked for half hour. Heater is working and all I was charged was a service call fee of $110. The flame sensor simply needed cleaning. He noticed the gas pressure was a little high which may be the cause of the sensor caboning up. I asked if I needed a new sensor what eould he quote. He could install for $40 and manufacturer part is $45. $45 vs $300 is a 500% markup on parts!! That is price gouging! I doubt I really needed a new sensor in February!! I bet it could have just been cleaned!! I know for a fact I did not need my vents pulled apart because they did not pull any debrie from the vents! I gave $700 to Vanderhyde to work on a furnace that still did not work. I could have called Hendricks back in February and only spent $110. Vanderhyde self promotes itself as a "Christain" business, I do not think price gouging and selling unneeded services is business behavior Jesus would approve of!!

I was way overcharged for their 10-15 minute fix on a toilet which I thought they we agreed on putting new replacement on toilet. Instead only 3 parts were replaced. I bought from Meijers a complete universal kit for $16.75. He said we don’t use those. We get original parts. First he showed me a warranty for over $1050. Next a warranty for $645 I believe. Their BAND AID warranty was for $450. I was upset with Jason over several points of business. Especially after trying to talk me into the $1050.00 warranty. The whole toilet cost me $550 installed a while back Oh just for coming over would have been $99.00. He was supposed to be here between 8-10 AM. He was here after 10 AM. When he called he said his truck is packed and ready to go. Found out when he got here No parts for toilet he had to go get them. Again I thought he was replacing the whole inside fixture. He did not. Oh. He had an apprentice do the work. That bothered me also. By this time before signing the bill I was feeling intimidated and at 75 years old I was under duress. I called the office at least three or 4 times. After calling and talking to other people on what had to be done. One said he was charged $85. Another $125. I talked to another would had work done by them and he was a friend of the son. He told me that he would never have work done by them. I finally called back one more time and the lady said she talked to management and because I signed for the work I had to pay the $450. It was under duress and I just wanted to get them out of my house. I told her also I was going to take this to the 63rd district court. I’m still thinking about that.

We strive to serve our clients in a timely manner with efficiency and professionalism. We understand that we did not meet your expectations. The client called in after the work was performed and was requesting a refund of $100.00. According to the homeowner that is what his plumber who he normally uses would have charged, but he told us that he could not come soon enough, which is why he called us. Unfortunally not all business operate under the same pricing structure.

I did ask for at least $100.00 refund that's true. I thought that was generous on my part. I did call another company and asked what they would quote. He stated I always quote a higher amount but the bill usually comes out around $200.00 that's what I stated to VanderHyde. Again, $550.00 for ***** minute installation is extremely high. They never gave me a breakdown of charges either. When he says above, "Unfourtunally not all business operate under the same pricing stucture." I've consulted with several others and all said $550.00 was way way to high. At 75 years old I feel like I was really take. My advise to others is call several plumbing companies.
