My father had a stroke while driving. Luckily he pulled over on the road and the paramedics were called. They took him to the hospital and the police called the company to tow his car. While my father was unconscious in the hospital my sister and I made several attempts on trying to get his car. The first time we called the company to figure out what we needed to get the car the office manager ***** was contradicting herself on the proper paperwork needed. We eventually got all the proper paperwork needed. When trying to retrieve the car we called and asked the their hours of operation. First we were told they are 24 hours. That information is stated on their website. Then we were told that the hours are 9am-5pm. We ended up going to retrieve the car on Saturday after calling the previous day to confirm their hours of operation in which we were told it was 9am-5pm. We arrived around 12:20pm just to be told they were closed. Each day the car sits at the lot there is a fee. We’ve made several attempts on contacting the company and were lied to several times regarding their hours of operation. However the company still charged a fee each day

We are contracted by Prince George's Co Police.  We tow twenty four hours, but our releasing hours are 8:00 - 5:00 Mon. thru Fri. and 9:00 - 12:00 Sat. and Sun.  Each dispatcher answering the phones tells customers these very hours many many times each day, so I'm not sure what this person heard.  To protect both the registered owner as well as our company, a notarized letter giving authorization to a person acting on an owner's behalf for a vehicle to be released is standard policy and was explained to both the son and daughter of the registered owner.  The storage starts accruing the day after the vehicle is impounded @ $50.00/day and there is also a $2l5.00 tow fee.  His vehicle was impounded on 12/12/2023 and the owner picked it up on 12/17/2023.  The total bill was $465.00 (50.00 x 5 days plus 215.00 tow fee).  When the owner called for hours and fees prior to coming to the lot, he fully understood what was needed for the release of his vehicle and when he came to pick up his vehicle he was very pleasant and never disputed the fees.  I can only assume the person complaining is the son because the name on the letter is not the registered owner's name.

       Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

It wasn't the issue of getting the proper paperwork. I have a power of attorney on the vehicle. The issue was the constant wrong information being provided by the company from employees and the office manager. By them providing wrong information they were able to hold the car for longer resulting in additional fees. Moreover my father did in fact have an issue with the pricing and the way in which the business operated. He also called himself and received wrong business hours. Over the course of several days the employees were rude. So instead of fighting with the business he decided to seek advice from an attorney. The first step was to submit a claim with the Better Business Bureau. Considering majority of the correspondence happened between the business and I. I was advised to submit the claim.

      Regards,
