We are purchasing a new construction home from Marrick Properties. The contract was ratified March 4, 2021. We sent an email September 14, 2021 asking that the wet trusses that were already dark not be used. They were laying in the yard at he time. We expressed our concerns and explained that most of the people in the household have respiratory issues. They put the trusses up anyway and are refusing to take them down. The first mold inspection revealed active mold growth. The builder was not willing to remediate all the trusses nor at least take down the rotting looking pieces. I have several email correspondences expressing our concerns as well as videos and pictures. I am beginning to think it is because we are Black. Our neighbors do not have trusses like this, nor did we see any trusses or discolored wood in any of the other new builds we viewed. Per the initial inspector, October 8th, wet wood is not acceptable and will cause not only mold but also the studs to expand so nails will pop out. My father passed away before this house could be finished but the purpose was to have him and my mother live with us because they are disabled. As a veteran who served on Air Force One with President ******** this is a disgrace to his wishes and years of service on top of our health and structural concerns. The trusses should not have been installed in that condition. I have spoken with several engineers and a two builders who all say this would not take place in their homes and it is a longterm concern, both structurally and health wise. Since everyone knows everyone down here, it is not that easy to get someone to fairly consider our concerns.
