Hired business for painting jobs, for a total of $1780. Start date 4/12/23; end date 4/13/23. The amount paid for painting my door and replacing gasket "selling" was the sum of $670. The business committed to purchasing all the paint/parts (inclusive in amount paid). On or around June 15, 2023, I observed specs/small bubbles in the paint on my front door. I sent business owner an image and asked him to come take a look and fix the issue. He responded, "I can't help you with that because it's a metal problem, it's not a paint problem". He offered to remove all paint to the metal which would cost me additional money or buy a new door. He acknowledged painting the door previously without issue. My issue is that I hired a licensed contractor whose expertise is painting. Therefore, the responsibility lies with him to ensure he properly preps the door and purchases the appropriate paint to ensure it adheres to the foundation to which it is being applied to attain the proper results for which he was paid. The door being a problem was not mentioned prior to this job and only after I brought the issue to his attention. Additionally, he volunteered to purchase the product/paint used which may also be a reason. His refusal to even come out to look at it is astounding when his labor/product failed in a 60 day period. Therefore, I refute the allegation that it's the door when it's only a specific area of/on the door, and appalled at his attempt to garner more money by suggestion stripping the door when it should have been done prior to painting if it were needed. I'm not okay with this licensed contractor response to a small issue. I can't imagine if I had a larger issue.... Lastly, I'd like to think he isn't spewing this rationale because I am a single female and less knowledgeable than a man!
