Very unprofessional customer service. My daughter had a stroke and was in the hospital for over a month. Her hair needed detangling and I suggested Hair Cuttery - Foundry Row in Owings Mills, MD (which I now deeply regret). She is not a fan of Hair Cuttery, but agreed because neither I nor her sister were able to help her (appt. 6/7 @ 12-ish). Kendra, the stylist who did my daughter's hair, did not inform my daughter up front, when she saw the condition of her hair, that she would have to charge her an additional $20 every half hour. This, she let her know after she had begun working on her hair. My daugher was upset, Kendra had been working on her hair, detangling it, and NOW, she informs my daughter of the extra cost (it was not as though, at that point, she were ignorant of the condition of my daughter's hair). My daughter was upset, and frustrated at this point - she agreed. At that point, she felt she had no other choice. My daughter felt Kendra was unnecessarily rough (daughter's hair is thin). When my daughter called me to pick her up from the salon she was upset, had a headache, and crying. I wanted to go in and speak with the manager, but my daughter just wanted to be done with it and go home. I felt really bad and responsible for her having had this bad experience, because it was due to my urging that she went to Hair Cuttery in the first place (she is not a fan of any Hair Cuttery). The next week, I called and spoke with the manager of that store on two occasions. The manager informed me that the stylists ARE to let the customer know of any additional costs UP FRONT. She knew, from her conversation with Kendra, that Kendra did not do this. Still, nothing was done; no refund, no partial refund, not even an apology. My daughter is on disability; a fixed income. She had a stroke in March and was hospitalized for over a month. I feel that Kendra, with her shift almost over and wanting to leave on time, took advantage of my daughter's fraility, and her being in the position of having her hair partially unfinished. For a detangle, wash and blow dry, Kendra charged my daughter $126!! I asked my daughter did she give her a tip? Happily, she did not. According to my conversation with the manager, even after speaking with Kendra, and Kendra admitting that she did not inform my daughter of the $20/half hour charge up front BEFORE starting her hair, no action was taken. So, if you go to Hair Cuttery at Foundry Row, make sure you do not use Kendra; especially, if it is near the end of her shift. I really want to rate this establishment "0" stars.
