In March 2022 a stress test was performed at Hagerstown Heart. My insurance was provided, being covered by Medicare & Medicaid. To date H.H. has never provided me with a statement verifying that they have submitted to Medicaid, in spite of at least two personal written requests. Instead, they continue to bill me for $14.32. Although not a great amount, ignoring my request for an itemized statement indicates to me that they have not billed Medicaid. I have provided copies of my insurance twice since the office visit (my last request sent at the beginning of August). Still no response to my inquiry. There is still NO itemized statement and no response to my written requests. But they have sent me a threatening letter, saying the bill in now in collections, while listing themselves as the collection office.

In addition, on the day of the stress test, I informed the people at the office that I had sacroiliitis, and that I did not know if I could complete the treadmill test. My SI was severely aggravated by the test, causing me to fall on the treadmill, catching myself on the handles. This resulted in injury to my back which caused to lose two days of work. Yet they can't provide me with a simple statement and demand payment of $14.32. All things considered; I feel they should clear my record

    ***Document Attached***
Patient had an echo not a stress test performed at local hospital. Medicare and United Healthcare was billed. Secondary insurance (United healthcare denied service stating coverage not provided under the plan) Patient was billed balance of $14.32. Patient should have received from his insurance company an EOB, which is explanation of benefits. I have provided those copies for your review. The balance was not paid by the patient which was his responsibility and later wrote off by Hagerstown Heart.

    Consumer Response /* (3000, 9, 2022/09/14) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Hagerstown Hear also performed a stress test in office, later. Since I was never provided with the billing, I did not know what this bill was for. Regardless, Medicaid coverage was submitted in both cases, and copies of the card provided at least twice following in response to bills. I continued to get billed, the last bill coming dated in September, so it does not appear to have been written off, either. Statement provided to BBB specifically stated it was in collections. Either way, had they billed Medicaid as they should have, account would have been closed. I want a statement from HH that the account is closed with a zero balance.

I have no new information to provide. As previously stated, the remainder portion of his bill from the echocardiogram is for $14.32 because his secondary insurance stated that the testing was not covered under his plan. Both insurances were billed Medicare and United healthcare. The $ 14.32 is the patients out of pocket expense and he should have received explanation of benefits from his insurance carrier. I have previously provided all information to you that we have on file. You can also see where he no longer owes Hagerstown Heart for this bill, I sent you that invoice as well.
