To whom it may concern: I stayed at Crown Hotel in Hagerstown, Maryland (more commonly known as the Dagmar Hotel) for one week in July of this past year. They are a cash only business with an ATM in the lobby. The rental I acquired was week-to-week and required a $100 deposit, which I paid, along with my $200+ rental price. I was told that I would receive my deposit after I vacated. Following checking out of the hotel, I needed to leave Hagerstown. I returned to the hotel before leaving town and left the following address for my deposit to be mailed to: **** **** **** *** ******* ** XXXXX I was informed that I would be sent my deposit when I was eligible to receive it in August. I did not understand why I needed to wait, but now I suspect it's to deter people from returning to claim it. Weeks passed and I never received anything in the mail. I called them on October 16th, 17th, and 18th of this year and was informed during these conversations that the deposit was mailed. I called again on October 25th and was told the deposit was mailed the previous week. After waiting and receiving nothing I finally called again on November 16th and was told, again, that the deposit was mailed the previous week, which is when I realized I was being lied to and told them I would file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, to which I was told "Do what you gotta do." I then spoke with my friend who had also stayed on a separate occasion and asked him if they had ever returned his deposit to him and he told me "No, and I pressed them hard about it." Please investigate this business and, if you can, get my $100 deposit returned to me. Thank you, Robert ********** (XXX) XXX-XXXX
