So I just talked to a representative from the company attempting to collect this debt and they stated the reason they were sent the collection from golds gym is because golds gym stated I never canceled my membership and thats why I keep getting charged after and finally my debt was sent to them. But I in fact did cancel my membership, I had to sign for it in person and was told I had to pay one more month. I never went into the gym after I canceled obviously because I was under the impression I canceled as I signed for it. So they were charging me for the months after because Im their records I didnt cancel and the total amount is all the months they tried charging me but didnt go through because I had canceled that card because I had no idea why they were still charging me for a canceled membership

So I had an open month the month contract with golds gym. I only used this for a month and after had to cancel the membership in person. I went in person and asked to cancel no problems occurred, I was informed I would have to pay for one more month if I was going to cancel which I was ok with so I cancelled. My membership was ***** a month and included a ***** down payment. This is the golds gym in German town. ********************************* phone number - ********** Once I canceled everything was normal I paid for the last month and after a while this kept trying to charge my card but I had it locked because I had cancelled so there shouldnt been any charge. After a while I got a couple calls from them that I didnt answer. I had canceled, I had payed for the months I had the membership and the last month I was required to pay to cancel, so I didnt want to answer. After a while I checked on the golds gym app where it stated I had ****** dollars overdue which made no sense I read through the cancellation agreement and forms and there are fees brought up( no of which should have applied to me) but none of them were even near 200 dollars they were little 25 dollar or a 50 dollar fee. I was not paying that and when I called no one could help me and now they sold my debt to a company called ****** and associates and I explained to them that Im not paying 226 dollars for some made up charge because Ive never heard of a 200 dollar cancellation fee on a open month to month membership.

We have reviewed the complaint filed from ****** ******* in regard to his membership cancellation at the Gold's Gym Germantown location. ****** joined Gold's Gym 10/31/24. His membership agreement reflects biweekly billing and a 30 day notice policy for billing to cease once a cancellation is requested. ****** filled out a cancellation request at the gym on 11/14/24 and his membership was cancelled with 30 days notice as noted in section 18 of his attached membership agreement. Since the final billing did not go through on 11/29/24, the membership did not cancel properly and an additional balance accrued in error. We have requested to have the balance adjusted to $37.99 which is the final billing that would have been due on 11/29/24, as it fell inside the 30 day notice period, and the $20 late fee.

****** can pay the remaining $37.99 balance at the gym or with ******. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused ****** and we hope he feels this is a fair resolution to his concern.
