We entered into a contract with Bohemia Builders in January 2024. Scope of work was to remove existing framing in living room, bathroom, and foyer and install new framing to level walls. Install drywall with a Level 5 finish. Install interior doors, bifold doors and one glass bifold door. Frame and trim out windows in living room and adjoining rear foyer. Contractor failed to install framing to level walls. When questioned, response was that the finisher would make sure everything was level and square. Same response from drywall crew when questioned about corners and bows. Believed these responses since a Level 5 finish is the highest drywall finish and requires a skim coat and all joints to be at right angles. Contractor failed to perform tasks to contractual requirements. Contractor also failed to install interior doors and bifold doors. Response was didn't know tile floor was to be installed even though tile floor was shown during initial site walkthrough. Contractor failed to frame and trim out windows. Response was couldn't achieve what was originally planned. When my wife asked about the levelness of the walls, contractor response was "this is an old house". Reason contractor was hired was his assertion and contractual stipulation that walls would be straightened and Level 5 drywall finish achieved. Results are the same as the original condition except for drywall finish. And this will need to be removed in order to fix the walls and corners, so it is of no benefit. We are also incurring storage costs on the flooring we purchased since we can't install until the walls are finished and painted.
