To Whom It May Concern:On September 5, 2025, an inspection at ***************** indicated my vehicle's front brakes would likely need replacement at the next oil change. The brakes were fully operational at that time. The following day, September 6, 2025, I took the vehicle to Midas for a brake inspection. The technician recommended replacing the front and rear brakes, along with the rotors. Given that I occasionally tow an 11,000-pound travel trailer, I authorized the repair at the quoted price of $2,171.15.The vehicle, which was scheduled for Saturday repair, was not ready until Tuesday, September 9, 2025. During this time, I made repeated attempts to contact the shop for a status update. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, I requested to inspect it before payment. Upon pressing the brake pedal, I discovered it went to the floor, indicating a complete loss of braking function.I informed the receptionist the vehicle was unsafe to drive and refused to pay until the repair was completed to my satisfaction. I then requested to speak with the technician and the manager, both of whom were initially unavailable. When the manager arrived, he became verbally abusive, demanding payment and stating the vehicle was repaired.I explained that the vehicle was not repaired to a drivable condition. I then informed him I would not be paying and would leave the vehicle at the shop until I could seek legal advice. In response, the manager threatened to charge a $50 daily storage fee.

Subject: Complaint Regarding Repair and Service at Midas

      September 16, 2025

      To Whom It May Concern:

This letter details a complaint regarding a service I received at Midas, located at ********************************************************************************************

On September 5, 2025, an inspection at ***************** determined that my vehicle's front brakes were fully operational but would likely require replacement around my next oil change. The following day, on September 6, 2025, I took the vehicle to Midas for a brake inspection. The technician recommended replacing the front and rear brakes, including the rotors. Given that I occasionally tow an 11,000-pound travel trailer, I authorized the repair at the quoted price of $2,171.15 to ensure optimal safety.

The repair, scheduled for completion on Saturday, was not finished until Tuesday, September 9, 2025. During this time, I made repeated attempts to contact the shop for a status update. Upon my arrival to pick up the vehicle, I requested a pre-payment inspection. When I pressed the brake pedal, it went completely to the floor, indicating a total loss of braking function.

I immediately informed the receptionist that the vehicle was unsafe to drive and requested to speak with the technician and the manager. When the manager became available, he was verbally abusive and demanded payment, claiming the vehicle was repaired. I explained that the vehicle was not in a drivable condition and stated that I would not be paying until the repair was completed to my satisfaction. In response, the manager threatened to charge a $50 daily storage fee.

The next day, I paid to have my vehicle released and towed to another automotive establishment for a secondary brake inspection. Their findings were alarming; they determined the brake work performed by Midas was not completed properly and posed an imminent risk of complete brake failure if the vehicle had been driven.

I have since contacted my attorney regarding this matter and have filed a dispute with the ********************************** and the Better Business Bureau. The purpose of this letter is to formally document these events and to make others aware of these unacceptable business practices.  Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any further questions, comments or require additional information

On February 21, 2025 I went to Midas in *************, Md for an oil change. The oil change was $45.99. I drive my truck in there perfectly fine; no check engine light and no major mechanical problems. When I picked my truck up an hour later and my truck sounded extremely loud, violently jerking, check engine light was on and 29% oil life. After going back and forth with consumer relations and the area manager, I will need to pay $5000.00 to Midas for them to replace my engine. After looking at my inspection reports from Midas and after speaking with one of their technicians, it doesnt seem like that Midas service center that I have been taken my vehicle to have been doing a thorough job based on my inspection report and the findings are very coincidental. This exact service center has been maintaining my vehicle for over a couple of months.
