In the spring of 2021 our association, *** *** located in Abingdon, MD 21009 Abingdon, Maryland, decided to change 52 water meters in Arborview Townhomes, Riverside, MD. A contractor hired for this undertaking was Bailey Brothers Plumbing. Within couple months after the installation it was clear that approximately half of the water meters not working properly. It took Baileys over a year to replace malfunctioning meters. My water bill went from $75 per quarter to $300 as association wasn't able to read water meters and the water bill was split evenly among all units regardless of water consumption history or number of occupants. Finally, in April 2022 water meters were reinstalled. During that entire year my quarterly water bill was $300, up by $225 from $75 water bill I paid prior to installation. Through the process I paid about $600 for initial installation and four quarters of extra $225 in water bills. My total expenses for this endeavor were about $1500. I hoped that for this price I will have a proper working device for years to come. The new water meter has a defect: every time I do laundry, flush toilet the water meter makes a loud ticking sound. I have a small townhouse and that ticking is heard in the living room and entire house. When I contacted the association about that, they reached out the Bailey's Brothers the response was that I got a "loud water meter" and they can't do anything about it. The ticking when I flush the toilet is "just water meter counting gallons of water". During the last six months I had sent numerous emails to the association, and them allegedly contacting Bailey Brothers, the verdict was that I just have to learn to live with it. My emails are not answered anymore by the association, and I am being completely ignored as an annoyance. Since I already paid for the meter in full, there is no motivation for anyone to fix the problem. Meanwhile, I feel that I have a ticking bomb in my basement ready to explode.
