I am a senior retired US citizen and a Holocaust Survivor. I lost my wife of 58 years a year ago. In March of 2023 Ive noticed a leak in my kitchen that ruined the floor and the lower kitchen cabinets. I hired RPS RESTORATION company to have my floors changed and restore my kitchen. The company received $6,122.12 from my insurance. This happened in March. Today is August and nothing but the dining floor is done. It took many phone calls to the contractor begging to start the work on my floors. It took them a month to lay the floor in the dining room. Two visits with weeks apart and it is not finished. When in July of 2023 (4 months without the kitchen and the floor) I realized that nothing will be done, I asked for the return of insurance money they received. The contractor send me the text message( I have it saved but was not able to attach here, please let me know how I can send it to you) that they were done with us long time ago and they dont want to work with us anymore. Since I did not know they were done with me, I asked again for money back. It took another month of negotiations, and I only got back $1993. I feel like I have been robed. The contractor took $ $3,067.45 for the small dining room floors which they never finished, added a charge that was never in the estimate (additional install underlayment for dining room labor and materials - $450.00) and charged me 20% for the cancellation fees. When in fact they stopped doing the work. I need help to get back $3055, so that I can pay new contractors I hired to do the job. Please advise on how to proceed. I am speechless and I never had anything like this happened before and I am very hopeful for the help.Thank you in advance for all your help,***** ******
