I am filing a complaint against McDel Towing regarding their refusal to provide proper documentation for my 2019 Dodge Caravan, which they towed on May 9, 2024.On September 23, 2025, I called McDel Towing requesting a letter for the ******************************* (MVA) stating that I never reclaimed my vehicle. I was told I would receive a return call, but no one contacted me. On September 24, 2025, I received a call back and was informed that the vehicle had been salvaged. I was given the number ************ to contact *** ****, who told me her company purchased the van from McDel Towing but that I needed the required letter from the towing company. When I contacted McDel again, I was first told that several letters had already been sent, even though I never received any letters except the initial tow notice. Then I was told I would need to pay $250 for a letter stating I did not reclaim my vehicle. They explained the fee was because they have to pay someone to type the letter. The staff was rude and unprofessional throughout the conversation.McDel Towing had possession of my vehicle from May 9, 2024 through May 9, 2025, before it was sold/delivered to ***********************, ********************************************************************* All I requested was a simple confirmation letter required by MVA, which McDel refuses to provide unless I pay this unreasonable fee.I was eventually able to obtain a letter from the company that scrapped the vehicle, but McDel Towing continues to withhold their own documentation. I believe this is unfair, exploitative, and unprofessional.I am requesting that the BBB investigate this matter and assist me in obtaining the necessary letter from McDel Towing without being forced to pay unjustified fees.Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Thank you for contacting us regarding the matter for sending a letter to mva . We understand your frustration and apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused. We  want to ensure that you have a clear understanding of events of this matter .
Please this vehicle was impounded due to an accident on 5/9/24.  Customer was notified on 5/20/24 by first class mail sent to the above address.  A second letter was sent out by first class mail on 5/30/24. Then we were contacted by her attorney ***** Iameler in June of 2024, he was given the options as well on what the customer was able to do with vehicle.  We advised the attorney we would be willing  to hold the price agreed upon  until June 10, ******************************************************* the fees would continue to accrue. There was no contact from ******* ****** Nor the attorney.  McDels than proceed to send out a final notification of abandoned vehicle letter on Feb 10, 2025, certified mail with return receipt request.  We received the return receipt sign by ******* ****** signature. Our first communication with ******* ****** in reference to vehicle was 3/26/25.  She wanted to know her options on retrieving her vehicle. She set an appointment to sign vehicle over and pay the tow fees but couldnt do so.  Vehicle still had a lienholder.  Our next conversation with ******* ****** was on September 23, 2025, demanding that she need a letter to take to *** confirming that the vehicle is no longer in her possession. Advised There is a fee for the investigation, processing and postage, the time and the man power it takes to provide a letter in lieu of *** to waive fees since she knew the unit was at there. This is in line with our standard company policy for re-issuing and mailing documents that were previously sent. This policy helps us cover the administrative costs associated with fulfilling these special requests.  After customer rudely harassed and hung up on us.  ******* ****** returned a call September 26, 2025, advising us she found the certified letter that was sent, MVA requires a signature.  We advise her that she can come to the office for one of the personnel to sign the letter that she currently has.  We did not hear back from the customer on September 26, 2025, nor did she show up.
From our investigation, it shows that customer was notified by written mail for an accident-related tow to the vehicles owner, secured party, and insurer within seven days of the tow.  While the fee is correctly applied based on our policy, we want to address your concern and assure you that we are committed to your satisfaction.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us directly by replying to this email or calling us at ************.

I am rejecting this response because the business is lying. I was told the letter that I had which has someone name ****** name on it, no one by that name worked there too who do I want to sign it. I stated well it came from y'all so someone needs to sign it which *** stated. I asked for a supervisor and was told they would call me back I never got that call. I recorded the rude conversation from the two workers. I told them I didnt want the van several times when it was towed. I just needed to turn the tags in and was denied. The are rude and unprofessional. I asked several times about letters but somehow you manage to look them up with out payment for this. I provided the day you salvaged and sold the van. all I asked was for you to provide letter stating it was never claimed by me from Mcdels.

      Sincerely,

      ******* ******

      Dear ***** ******,

Thank you for reaching out to us. We understand your concern about McDel Enterprises *** being a predatory tow company. Which is as follow $160.00 tow, $90.00 flatbed, $44.00 administrative ***s and $38 a day. As a medallion tow company, Signal 30 and signal 31 accidents are brought back to the individual tow company yard. From my conversation with Ms.Royal customer on November 1, 2024, she made an appointment for 11/1/2024 at 1pm to pick vehicle.  At that time the ***s were $1092. We never discuss removing property from vehicle. At the time of our conversation back in Nov 2024 I always gave the customer options as follows. Option #1. If the customers have full coverage immediately submit a claim and provide the insurance company with our information.  The customer than releases the car for the insurance company to pick vehicle up. OPTION#2. If the customer does not have full coverage, they would be liable for the tow ***s and daily storage plus adm *** as regulated by the contract. Option#3. If it's the other parties' fault and their ins co takes the responsibility they can file a claim through the other party's insurance company. It's the customer responsibility on how to remove the vehicle since it's her choice due to no insurance. She was made aware of the above choices, and she made an appt for Nov 1, 2024, to pick up the vehicle. Failure to appear on ger appointment did not call nor follow up with us.  I did not hear from the customer again until June 4, 2025, by text wanting to know her ***s at that time.  Then July 17, 2025, a call again the ***s go up daily $38 a day which she had been advised numerous times.  She stated she is going to get a loan to pick up vehicle.
We want to always ensure the citizen does not get ripped off by predators out here, so we follow the guidelines to the max. Other non-medallions towers considered as predators charge for example:
