I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against Lupin Pharmaceuticals regarding an adverse experience I had after taking their medication, *******, which was prescribed to me for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis. On November 5, 2024, I purchased ******* (2 grams) from ************ for $75.00. I had been prescribed this medication once before and do not recall experiencing any adverse effects at that time. However, after taking the medication this time, I became extremely ill and vomited repeatedly. This was accompanied by a persistent and unpleasant aftertaste in my mouth, making the experience even more distressing.The product details are as follows:Lot Number: ***** Expiration Date: April 2027 NDC: ************ To address the issue, I contacted Lupin Pharmaceuticals directly and spoke to one of their offshore customer service representatives. Unfortunately, the representative was not helpful and merely stated that my information would be passed along and that someone would follow up with me. To date, I have not received any further communication or resolution regarding my concerns. Given the severity of the adverse reaction and the lack of adequate support or response from Lupin Pharmaceuticals, I am requesting a reimbursement for the $75.00 I spent on this medication. Furthermore, I believe it is essential that Lupin Pharmaceuticals reviews and improves their customer service processes to better address consumer health concerns.I have attached copies of my receipt from *** Pharmacy, the packaging details of the medication, and any relevant documentation to support my complaint. Lupin is a negligent, irresponsible, careless company. My second of two inhalers just stopped working after just two or three puffs. No mist. I tried warm water to flush the mechanism to no avail. When the medication did come through it was a weak mist. This is incredibly dangerous for asthmatics. The *** needs to stop allowing ********* manufacturing by Lupin. I have read countless similar complaints. I will be sure to comment everywhere possible to alert people to the dangers of obtaining malfunctioning rescue inhalers from this company and will request my pharmacy not fill my prescription with this terrible brand.Initial Complaint

Ever since my pharmacy switched to Lupin inhalers, the plastic actuator does not spray well and stops working altogether after about 5 sprays. I've contacted then 3 times, with them asking the same questions each time as if they are speaking to me for the first time, and they will not hear that it is not the abuteral cartridge issue, it is the plastic actuator that has malfunctioned every month for the past 6 months. I do not want money. I want them to replace their faulty products or pull them from the shelves.Initial Complaint

Have a prescription for Lupin ***************** inhalation Aerosol to treat periodic lung issues. The medication in necessary to prevent loss of life. Multiple times the aerosol inhaler will stop working after two or three doses. It is supposed to contain approximately 180 doses. The malfunction is a direct threat to my life. I want my money refunded and the appropriate authorities (FDC, etc.) to be notified of the problem with the inhalers manufactured by Lupin. The item should not be on the market as it threatens the lives of many U.S. citizens. My insurance company should be required to authorize payment for an alternate source of inhalers made for my particular issue.Initial Complaint

Purchased ***************** inhaler from pharmacy. It did not work. Pharmacy told me to file claim for refund with Lupin. I did that on 5/14/24 and returned the inhaler along with original receipt and paperwork needed from Lupin. To date they have not refunded me and are not returning my calls. Several calls made to them and they said I was being reimbursed $25.10 and they eventually stopped returning my calls.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:I have contacted them several times. They are not returning my calls (several of them). I need them to reimburse me (including interests for delays) and that will satisfy me. I do not wish to communicate with a company that has ignored my several correspondences with them via email, letters and phone calls. They have made false statements to me stating that a check was mailed to me over a month ago and I have yet to receive any check. Why should I contact them. They need to reimburse me and state this to BBB. Thank you.

I'm not sure why you are closing this complaint. I replied to your last communications. Lupin wanted me to contact them. I have many times until they stopped communicating with me. Why are they refusing to reimburse me when they requested the product, original receipt and forms be filled out and returned to them via ***** within 5 days. I have done this. I need them to reimburse me the full amount of the product or they can return everything back to the Vons pharmacy and have them reimburse me. They are holding the product, the receipt and yet I have no refund. Please resubmit a request to Lupin as to why they are refusing to refund me. Thank you.Initial Complaint

My inhaler made by Lupin failed today. This is a rescue inhaler that I have to keep on my at all times. In 44yrs I've never had one fail. Lupin does not even have a functional website. After finally finding a contact phone number, I contacted Lupin. The first rep said the only way to get a replacement was to take it to the pharmacy, turn it in with a reference #. Pharmacy said they don't do that. Contacted Lupin again and they said I will need to mail it back to get a replacement. I have to purchase these out of pocket and they are very expensive. Rep offered no other solutions and would not let me speak to anyone else. She was difficult to understand, baby was crying in the background, phone connectivity was terrible and I literally had to repeat my info to her 6 times.Business Response

I have asthma and have been using ********* inhalers for over 35 years. Over the years, the companies that produce these inhalers change as do the shape and size of the plastic dispensers that dose the medication. Recently *** has switched to using a dispenser made by Lupin that isn't reliable, is poorly constructed, and breaks within the first few days of using it. I had two inhalers in a row break within the first 15-20 puffs (they are supposed to last 200 puffs). There was still medicine in the canister but the plastic dispensers wouldn't dispense any medicine. The first time this happened i assumed it was a fluke and I simply got another prescription and got another one, when it happened again, i decided to return to the pharmacy to try and get another plastic dispenser. *** told me they can't give me one because Lupin (the manufacturer) doesn't give them extras and I must call Lupin. I did that, but they refused to send me a plastic dispenser because I had already thrown out the broken ones. I find this absurd. I even offered to pay for it. The plastic dispenser cannot cost more than $1.00 to produce and there is literally no other way for me to get the medication out of the canister without it. There are no competitors in the space, Rite Aid, Walgreens, and *** only cary Lupin inhalers so I don't have a reasonable way to even get an inhaler from another manufacturer.Business Response

The albuterol inhalers by Lupin keep malfunctioning. The first one I had two years ago got jammed easily. I thought it was a one-off and got another inhaler. But all of the inhalers by Lupin I have had over the past 2 years have had issues - getting jammed, partial doses coming out, metered doses going down incorrectly, and wasting doses trying to fix the jam. I need the inhaler more for exercise and once was left during a 10k race with an inhaler that didn't work and had a bad asthma attack! Even though I had just used that inhaler earlier that day. I now have made sure to check it repeatedly before I run but that wastes medication and money! This Lupin albuterol inhaler is a waste of money and can be dangerous if a person is counting on it working!
I asked ******* about this a few times. They said others have mentioned issues. But ******* said this is all they carry unless I can get ********.Initial Complaint

My last three Albuterol sulphate inhalers have quit working with 40 doses left. Cleaned regularly tried running warm water on it to no avail. Makes last week of month tough to get through.
