never tend to leave reviews, but I feel compelled to inform the public about DCU Credit Union. I opened a savings account with *** and signed in to connect my personal checking account to my *** savings account. The transaction appeared to have gone through smoothly; I even received email confirmations from *** and my personal bank confirming its success. The next day, when I attempted to log in to my *** savings account to ensure the funds were there, I couldn't log in. I called customer service for help, but they advised me to wait for a letter in the mail without any idea of when it would be sent. After a week or two, I called back and received the same advice. I requested to speak with a supervisor, but the customer service representative claimed he was the supervisor. The letter arrived after more than a month, informing me that they had closed my account due to mishandling. I called again to ask for an explanation of how I had allegedly mishandled my account. I was treated as though I didn't matter, with no explanations given, even after calling corporate. To this day, I have no idea what I did wrong. *** lacks a level of respect towards people that, to me, is unacceptable and disturbing. I don't know about anybody else, but nobody has the right to accuse you of doing something wrong without telling you what it was! Just be careful with ***!Review from Carolyn W

I am extremely disappointed and regretful of my choice to use *** for my mothers estate banking account. I came to *** having the association of another longtime member. I sent them every document asked for to set up the account; my drivers license, the notarized probate paperwork from the courts, my mothers death certificate, and an additional piece of mail verifying my address. After depositing 2 cashiers checks drawn from established local and national banks. Coded and verified cashiers checks, extended holds were placed on the funds. I was then locked out of my account for "fraud" activity and was ordered to call the *** fraud department. Its one thing to place a few extra days hold on large check deposits. Its another to take the actions and speak the language, (particularly a gentleman named ***** who showed a huge lack of empathy), some of their representatives did, including a letter received stating *** has identified suspicious activity pertaining to your membership. all while threatening to set my account to a cash only account where in-person transactions would be the only option if I did not call within a certain timeframe. When did depositing a cashiers check become suspicious activity? To be immediately treated like a criminal within less than a week of opening my *** account, with ******** claims of fraud activity is absolutely mind boggling to me. Especially after submitting tons of required paperwork and having a fellow member association as mentioned above. I have never been so poorly treated by a banking system and have lost all faith in this one. I'm giving 2 stars only because a couple of customer service employees did speak to me with empathy and respect.Review from Madhavi V

I purchased a flight tickets using my DCU debit card and I cancelled it within an hour. I got an email from emirates that Ill be refunded within 15 business days , and it was refunded within a week but it was not showing in my DCU balance. When asked the customer service they opened a dispute on July 25th.on August 9th I called again as there was no transaction in my account. I was told again that they opened another dispute again on August 6th and itll take another 10 business days again. I just dont understand anything. Why are they holding up my money ? Why the dispute ? Why should I go through all this mental worries when nothing from my end is wrongReview from Vivian R

Do not open up any loans with DCU! It should be zero star!About four years ago, I finance a car with DCU and The terrible, awful Car dealership named ****** Auto and truck in ********, **. From the first day, they saw me an empty car with no gas and the lights for the tires pressure was on. I needed a car so I didnt really think much about it. Fast forward three months the car started producing black smoke coming out of the muffler I went to the dealership. They said theyll fix it. They had my car for 2 1/2 weeks then they sent me to another person because they didnt really do anything because they continue to do it fast-forward to another I spent over $800 to get a few things fixed, including the battery now I moved to ******* drove the car here. It didnt give me any problems but when I went to take it to a mechanic, ask him why its not starting they told me that The engine/ motor from the car Came from a dump it was used up so now I am calling the Loan place, DCU to tell them that I no longer could afford the car because I moved and I am not working so I cant do the monthly payment. I am not using the car its parked. Months before I moved I did try to get rid of the car by doing an exchange, but no one would pick up the phone. Im trying to call the loan people so that they could repo my car and they refused because I owe less than $3000 but I do not work. I do not have money. Im living with my boyfriend and his family and its hard to work in ******* without a car, everything is so far. I need help with getting this car out of my Boyfriend, parents parking, but DCU is refusing to accept my repro request, knowing that I do not have money to pay the car payment. And I have tried Have a settlement of a certain amount of money about half of What the car is worth and theyre still refusing to pick up the car. I dont know what to do anymore, but I cannot pay for this car, The cost to fix it is twice as much that I owe. I cant do it please help me thank you.Review from Bryce B

DO NOT DO ANYTHING WITH DCU. 0 **************** and a SCAM Started my membership application and paid the $15-$100 FEE (Should be paying me to become a member of a credit union with only bad reviews). Then it wouldnt let me finish the application. The charge stayed on my card but I never became a member. For some odd reason, they cant figure out the issue with the application, its happened to multiple people but they wont try to fix the issue at all.Review from Melanie C

My savings account has been "under investigation" for at lease 6 months which has left me without access to my money. They are not able to give me any updates or time frame when I contact them and I have been told that department is short-staffed.Review from Megan P

DCU removed $5,400 out of my savings account due to their internal error, last week. I am still waiting for them to put it back. I have been on the phone with them almost daily and have cooperated with their requests. I have not been allowed to speak with the fraud person handling my case. They always deflect my call to a service representative who keeps repeating that they have 10 days to resolve the issue. I will be removing my savings and checking once I get my money back and taking it elsewhere.Review from Katherine A

Don't use this bank. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. In the last 6 months, DCU wouldn't change our address after we talked to several agents over 6 months. Our cards were stolen but DCU continued to send new cards to our old address. After we switched to a different credit union, I tried to close my account but didn't realize they require an open account with a DCU ********************** card that has a remaining balance. Then my credit card was stolen and had Amazon charges. I talked to an agent, who was crappy with me about me trying to figure out what was going on. Note: You can't close accounts with disputes on them. I have to wait 90 days for the disputes to go through. They said a new credit card is one it's way. One I will never use. Will that card get stolen too via Internal fraud? Data breach? Don't go with this bank.Review from Derek S

I was robbed in *********** and had my card and mobile banking app compromised which resulted in my entire savings being stolen. This was reported to both the police and DCU the day it happened and I filed a fraud claim with DCU. A horrible woman named ******************* initially denied my fraud claim and accused me of orchestrating the violent robbery with zero evidence. She at zero point reached out to the **** or did any sort of investigation into what happened, just accused me of being a thief and told me my life savings was gone. I had to go above her head which resulted in hours and hours of phone calls just to get the bank to conduct an actual investigation. Ultimately after they actually investigated they realized that my fraud claim was valid and I was able to get my money back after several months. I asked ******************* for the documents and evidence that she used to conduct her initial thorough investigation and it turns out she didnt have anything. After finally getting my money back I received a letter from ***** stating that because Im on my 2nd debit card in 10 years that I have a history of losing my card and am no longer allowed to have a debit card. This is how this bank treats a 20 year customer who filed their first fraud claim after being violently robbed. I was unable to pay my bills for the first month while they conducted their sham investigation. After finally getting my money back I switched banks. These banks have insurance for reasons like this. I had never had an issue with this bank prior to this incident but I think people should know what to expect if your account ever becomes compromised, they will deny your claim, make you fight for months, and then ban you from using a debit card. Stay away.
