*** has been changed a number of times. It took a while for me to become used to using *** 2024. I have not used the *** link-up with Ancestry.

I've used Family Tree Maker for many years and have been happy with it, so when I received notification in February 2024 that a new version would be released by the end of 2024, I paid for the upgrade which wasn't a lot of money. Now it's February 2025 and not a word regarding the new release. The website shows it was updated in 2025, but that doesn't mean they're still in business. I've sent an email to the company and haven't heard back, but I'm not holding my breath. Maybe they've taken our money and scrammed, who knows.

I pre-ordered the new 2024 upgrade of Family Tree Maker on 02/13/2024 for the amount of $32.48. The email confirmation email I received on 02/13/2024 clearly states "Coming later this year". It also said "Right now it is going through the final testing and being given some finishing touches." It is now 02/17/2025 and I have not been notified that my download is ready and there are no updates even mentioning *** 2024 on the Software MacKiev website. I did a text chat with their customer support agent, ****, on 02/13/2025 asking about the status of the *** 2024 that I pre-ordered exactly one year prior and basically was just told "we are nearly there but there are some last-minute delays with the release. We're doing final tests and adjustments so hopefully the new version is release shortly." I asked him, "How short is shortly?" and he said, "Hopefully, it's a matter of weeks at this point." I then stated, "It's already been over 52 weeks since I paid for the pre-order. It was promised for late 2024, at this point its fraud. You are bound by what you put in writing. The interesting thing is that there are absolutely no updates or mention of *** 2024 on the website. MacKiev really needs to send an update to those of us who preordered to let us know what is happening." It is now 02/17/2025, I have not received an update email or my product. I would like to receive the product I paid for. I have been a loyal user of Family Tree Making since 2001 and find this situation really disheartening.

Pre-purchased Family Tree Maker in February 2024 (FTM2024) for $49 (including a USB) and MacKiev still has not delivered! They advertised or implied expected delivery date several times (or just "soon") and it has still NOT released. Their communication with their customers is ZERO.

Very disappointed in the support that I'm receiving from this company. I've been using their FTM software for about 10 years now and getting support and / or updates regarding their latest release that I've already paid for is impossible to get.

After taking a break from my research, I logged back in to discover I could no longer "sync" to my Ancestry account on my 2017 version. After many attempts to troubleshoot, purchased the download for the 2019 version. After days of trying to download & open the 2019, I finally succeeded; but the same sync problem existed. I received a message that Ancestry user was authenticated, but still I was not able to connect with Ancestry. I opened a live chat and was told the fix was easy. Another "tech" logged into my system & a very short time, advised the problem was expired drivers. The fix would cost an option of $199, $299 or $499. I clarified that even though I had purchased 2019 version, the drivers were not included & I would need to purchase one of the options to be able to use FTC. Obviously I disconnected the call & the system access.

I have a billing problem with Family Tree Maker 2019 - MacKiev - Global Updates Solution. FTM never answers their phone nor do they read nor respond to my e-mails. Situation involves double payment of their product to update my old trees and Life-time free upgrades charge payments which happened with two different charge cards. There is also no invoice to show what I was charged for - just the charge on my bank statements including a Foreign Transaction Fee with one account. I did get the book Monday, 01/22/24 after over a one year wait. They deny the double payment. I have contacted AARP for a starter for help. I Found out MacKiev has an "F" rating with BBB. What a shame.

This is a terrible company to do business with. I ordered and paid for Family Tree Maker 2019 and the Companion Manual in January 2020.I received Family Tree Maker in January 2020.I am still waiting for the Manual.I get the same excuses when I contact them through online chat. They don't answer their phone.I get the same message through chat that it will be out in a few months. Its been almost 4 years. I have noticed there are many negative complaints against this company.*****

This is a horrible company and dont do business with them under any circumstances. I ordered the Companion Guide from them years ago and they never delivered it. They just give me bogus excuses. I would file a complaint with the attorney generals office, which is my next step.

Yup, MacKiev's take-over of Family Tree Maker began with a bang. Ancestry rarely, if ever, had sync feature work correctly - don't know how many times I had to re-upload my tree, then download that tree back into Family Tree Maker to restore my tree. I spent more months back then crying when sync would corrupt my tree and have to be restored. Every time I was on pins and needles until my tree was fixed. I started doing genealogy with my mom who used FTM 2012 then. We've purchased each new version from Ancestry when it came out, and having high hopes for MacKiev fixing all the sync problems, so we continued the trend with MacKiev (Latest ver we're running I think is 24 which is their most current.). And Initially, yes all my sync problems were no more! MacKiev made it work more reliably - I think after their 'fixes' to sync, in 2 years time, only had to restore my tree once. Not anymore. MAcKiev has dropped the ball on their customers worse than Ancestry ever did. Our family tree has grown from a few hundred people when I had started helping, to approx **** now. So being able to backup and sync EVERY MONTH is critical. Not to them though. It's been 3 months now that sync is down completely - not working at all. I contacted them thinking maybe it was something I'd done or failed to do, and was told it was on their end, and they were aware of the issue and were working on the problem. I told the rep I needed to sync and backup my tree, which I did every month, except now the last 2 months, which I was kind of in a panic over, and asked if they might have any kind of window as to when it might be fixed and was told no, sorry, but we are working on it. Thanks for nothing. And now it's been 3 months of their software being about as useful as a giant paperweight - no longer works with your Ancestry tree, the very thing it was made to do. Going to make the switch cause they only want more money from people.
