    I contracted with Honest Abe last summer to help restore a rental property. We agreed that they would: - replace the roof - replace the gutters - refinish and repaint the plaster walls in the interior All of this was guaranteed to be completed for $20,000. I chose Honest Abe, turning down lower cost bids on the job, because they promised to guarantee their price and excellent customer service. The roof and gutters were done quickly, but the company was not prepared for the final job. I experienced many issues: - they required more money ($3500) to finish the job, despite their guarantee - they missed deadlines repeatedly (at least five times), causing my renters to delay moving in and forcing me to lose rental revenue ($600) - they fell out of communication for long periods of time and failed to respond to calls and questions - they did not complete the job as originally described; they were supposed to leave the original trim or replace it with a similar quality material - they damaged the property (broke a window which fell out while removing the trim) and did not fix it - they offered financing, but the additional cost to the project required a vastly higher interest rate than originally promised Attempts at resolution - I asked for monetary compensation for the poor work; I was promised a return call (on multiple occasions) which never came - the company changed owners, and I was told that the new owners would take better care of me - I have called an embarrassing number of times, simply asking them to fix the broken window (not mentioning the poor work) - I am now asking for a refund for the trim job (not completed according to our agreement and not possible to be fixed without starting the job over) and compensation for the window (still unrepaired). - I estimate that the redoing the trim job would cost around $4000; the window repair around $400; and the one month uncollected rent is $600. I am asking for a $5000 refund.

    The individual who came to my house to tell me about there roofing options was *******************************. He explained what would happen to include giving me a rough timeline He completed the contract for my slate blue standing seam roof, and matching gutter system with screens. *** and *** came out to measure the roof for the standing seam roof.About a fortnight later *** and ******* came out to take more precise measurements. ***************************** stated that he would be the project manager for my roofing project. The morning that they scheduled to start the project was Wed, 21 Jul the ******* of the roofing crew was ******, within 2 hours they had the shingles removed and the membrane down, started measuring and cutting I would like to tell you about my experience with Honest ************************ KC.the panels for the roof. ******************************* came by to see the progress and he climbed up on the roof and took a picture of the progress of the work. Made great progress and the second ****************** was the ******* of the roofing crew, and he was also the owner of Honest ************************ KC. They had the roof finished by about 4:30 PM. Needed the boots around the sewage vent and another vent. They did an excellent clean up of the yard. ***** showed up on Friday, 23 Jul to install the boots and caulked them.******* showed up the next week and showed me examples/samples of the color choices for the cutters and downspouts. I picked the one that was the closest match to the Slate Blue roofing. Gutters were scheduled for Tuesday, 3 Aug. A young gentleman and two individuals in their mid-30s were here and were up on the roof and left after about 30 minutes. I texted ******* about it, he texted back that the gutter guys had stated that the roof was to brittle. Texted back that it was a brand-new standing seam roof. A few hours later ***** called and said he would get it worked out. During the week of 9 Aug, a gentleman came and installed the snow guards, about an hour and a half. The gutters and down spouts were installed on 24 Aug. ****** from the original roofing crew was here to install them. They had the old gutters and downspouts down within an hour. I went out to see what was going on and stated that I would take the old gutters, downspouts and gutter screens to be recycled. ****** was terse and stated that I had just cost him some $$$. Told him I would take them to be recycled. He and his crew of two individuals continued with the manufacture and installation of the gutters and down spouts. They were finished at 11:30 AM and departed.I texted ***************************** to let him know that the gutters and spouts were installed. ******* let me know they would be here shortly. ***************************** and **** arrived about 12:30 PM, Tue, 24 Aug. ******* was training **** as a Project Manager. During the final inspection, I told ******* about my conversation with ******, ******* asked me if he was angry, I explained that he was terse. We continued with the inspection and signed off on the Field Managers 16 POINT INSPECTION. ******* stated that he and **** had two places to be, they left about 1:15 PM. I found all of the individuals to be extremely friendly, and extremely professional. Hope to see ****** again. I consider *******, **** and ********** as friend and hope they will stop by. I strongly recommend Honest ************************ KC.************ ******
