On December 5, 2023, TrueAccord Corp. received the BBB complaint filed by ******** **** (“consumer”). We take every complaint seriously and appreciate the opportunity to address their concerns.

TrueAccord is a third party debt collection company established to reimagine the debt collection experience for consumers. Founded in 2013, TrueAccord communicates primarily via email and offers an inbound customer service center in the event a consumer prefers to call in and speak with a live agent. One of our guiding principles is treating our consumer-customers with dignity and respect. We are a licensed and bonded agency accredited with the BBB and registered with the CFPB. We maintain a full-time internal compliance department that established our policies and procedures to exceed the minimum regulatory requirements of the state, federal and local laws governing collections. Our in-house training program instructs our agents on these policies, including annual refresher courses.

TrueAccord does not own the account in question. We are sub-servicing this account for **** who is working on behalf of ***** *** placed this account, including the consumer’s contact information, with us and we loaded it into our system on November 14, 2023.

TrueAccord’s communications are vetted by TrueAccord’s legal counsel to ensure that the content complies with all applicable laws and regulations. This includes a review to ensure that the language used is not misleading or harassing.

On November 29, 2023, TrueAccord sent the consumer an initial email to ***************** detailing the creditor, an itemization of the amount due, how the debt could be disputed, and the option to unsubscribe. It also included a link to the CFPB website (********************************) for the consumer to learn more information about their federal rights.

On November 30, 2023 and December 3, 2023, TrueAccord received the consumer’s emails disputing the debt. While our standard operating procedure requires agents to process a dispute in situations like this, it appears that due to an error, the dispute was not processed.  We reviewed and have taken corrective action.

Please note, We sent a total of 2 outbound emails and 1 outbound SMS on this account.  This communication frequency is well within the guidelines of what laws and regulations governing our industry consider as not harassment.  In addition, our records do not show that there were any outbound phone calls made to the consumer regarding this account.

We have processed this complaint as a dispute. We have paused collection activity, requested debt verification from the current creditor, and will not resume collections until after the debt verification has been sent to the address on file.

If the consumer has any more questions or would like to take further action on the account, they may contact us via email at [email protected] or by phone at (866) 611-2731. Thank you.

    Complaint: 20952381

I am rejecting this response because this company was sending emails, basically demanding me to pay something with NO proof? Nothing? Further, they STILL have yet to provide the actual details I asked for. Until they do, this is not resolved.

    Sincerely,

    ******** ****

I would like this company to cease sending me any forms of communication. They recently e-mailed me about an **** ******* with an account number ending in ********* I never had had nor even lived at the address on the e-mail. My current address I have been at for over SIX YEARS! The e-mail stated I used **** ******* since March 2019 which is false I have used another internet company this whole time and it was not **** Claiming I owe them, $373.03, which I do not. I do not appreciate them making false claims about a debt that is NOT mine. Reading these other reviews/complaints I am glad I am not the only one and the e-mail screamed scam especially since my inbox told me this is from a mailing list, and legitimate official e-mails do not say that. Please leave me along, remove me from whatever list you have, and do NOT place this on my credit or I will seek legal advice to bring you to court because this has to stop. Stop sending false information claiming people owe when we do not!

    Customer Answer

Not sure why this is being made to think it’s a third party company when I even including a copy of the email sent to me. The wording seems familiar because I’m not the only consumer getting these e-mails from this company. What I wrote in the complaint is 100% true I still have the e-mail that was sent to me in case it needs to be sent again. But my initial complaint is from me and not a third party company.

Our in-house training program instructs our agents on these policies, including annual refresher courses.

On October 21, 2022, TrueAccord sent you an initial email detailing the creditor, an itemization of the amount due, how the debt could be disputed, and the option to unsubscribe. It also included a link to the **** website *********************************) for you to learn more information about your federal rights.

On November 8, 2022, TrueAccord received the consumer’s request disputing this debt.  We processed this dispute, paused collection activity, and requested debt verification from the current creditor. On January 6, 2023, the current creditor completed the investigation, and the debt verification documents were mailed to the address on file.

In the regular course of business, the current creditor removed the account from our system on April 19, 2023. However, the current creditor placed the account back with us and we loaded it into our system on June 20, 2023.

TrueAccord is a legitimate company and the SMS message was not a scam. However, it appears that the filer’s number, xxx-xxx***** is associated with an account owed by a different person.

We have removed the phone number from the account in question. The filer will no longer receive communications from TrueAccord regarding this account. We have also communicated to the creditor that the filer’s phone number should not be associated with this account.

The hyperlink that the filer references in the SMS provides limited content. It does not include any Personal Identifiable information. Had the filer continued by clicking on another hyperlink, they would have been prompted to verify their information.

We hope that this response thoroughly addresses the filer’s concerns.

BBB is unable to locate the business.
I have received numerous emails from this company. I’ve never heard of this bank or ever had an account with them. When I tried to dispute it on their website my current or previous zip codes weren’t a match for their record, so I couldn’t dispute the debt they say I owe. This company is constantly emailing me for what appears to be a scam - or mistaken identity. I demand that TrueAccord cease and desist immediately.

Have been contacted multiple times via email by TrueAccord Corp. in the last week, saying they were "reaching out about your balance with **** ******* *** (current creditor of your original WebBank account) of $2,434.52", and then requesting I "sign up for a payment plan". These communications all look like scam emails, and as such have been ignored, but this incessant nuisance contact is now causing me to take action.

I owe no such debt, have never heard of WebBank, and have never heard of **** ******* ***. Additionally, none of my credit reports from legitimate credit reporting agencies (******* *** **********) show any such debt outstanding, and have no records of me ever doing any kind of business ever with WebBank or **** ******* ***.

It is obvious my name, and email address have been given to TrueAccord Corp in error. I insist that TrueAccord rename all of my contact information, name, address and any other of my Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from that record, and correct this problem immediately, as I owe no such debt, and am not liable for any such debt.

I expect TrueAccord to remidiate this error immediately, and for TrueAccord to contact me to indicate they have performed the required action and will no longer contact me about this.
