1 starDon't use this product for any of your construction. Make sure your builder not using TAMKO Products. My home is just 6 year old and the roof needs to be replaced because of huge granules loss, When I reached out the warranty team they cannot do anything for used home buyers and the limited warranty services only for the original home buyer. Don't know why the big builders like Taylor Morison using this kind of cheap products. I am going to write a product review in all the social media's. Also preparing a detailed video about the builder Taylor Morison and this roof product company. New video will be trending soon. Product company should be shame on their quality.TAMKO Building Products, LLC

TAMKO provides a limited warranty as part of the original sale of TAMKO shingles that provides a remedy in case of manufacturing defects which directly cause leaks. This limited warranty is printed on every package of TAMKO shingles so homeowners (and their contractors) can read the language of the limited warranty as they consider which brand of shingles to buy. Like most manufacturers who provide a long-term limited warranty, TAMKO has limitations on the transferability of the limited warranty. Notice of TAMKO’s limitation of the transferability (including the requirement to request the transfer within 30 days of the closing date) is conspicuously printed on the top of the limited warranty. TAMKO’s rationale for the limitation of the transfer of the limited warranty, in part, is based on the fact that subsequent owners of a home have the opportunity to inspect the home (and its component parts such as shingles), negotiate the purchase price, and make subjective adjustments to the price based upon the home’s structural condition, market conditions, and various other factors. Specifically, a subsequent owner has the opportunity to inspect the roof and take any issues into account as part of the negotiation of the price of the home. It is part of the due diligence process in the purchase of a house that requires the purchaser to assume that responsibility and risk. (TAMKO obviously is not a party to such negotiations, does not know whether any adjustments to the purchase price should have been made or were in fact made due to the condition of the roof, and cannot determine if the subsequent homeowner negotiated a fair and reasonable purchase price for the home.) Therefore, TAMKO has chosen to provide a limited warranty that limits the transferability which is conspicuously printed on every bundle of TAMKO shingles.Review fromDonna O.

1 starWe had our roof singles replaced in November of 2017 and the roofing company used Tamko shingles. Since we've had the roof replaced the granule loss has been severe even before hurricane Ian! I tried to email Tamko and they sent me paperwork saying I have to have a roofer come out and pay $200 which they will reimburse me to get the roofer to go up and get three shingles off of my roof and send it to them. I told them I feel like it's their responsibility since I am on a fixed income and I don't have $200 out of pocket to spend since it's their product they need to have someone come out they told me they don't have anyone that can do that! I feel that as a customer I should have the right to have someone from that company since it's their product come out to my house and take a look at what's going on I am still having granule loss and it's 2023TAMKO Building Products, LLC

TAMKO is always happy to assist with warranty claims; however, TAMKO does not have personnel nationwide to remove and mail 2 shingle samples to TAMKO's lab for each claim. TAMKO provides a large self-address shingle envelope with the claim kit which is mailed to each customer who initiates a shingle warranty claim and requests the customer to have a professional roofer safely remove 2 shingle samples and take photographs of the issue. Once the claim is fully investigated and it is determined the issue was caused by a manufacturing issue, TAMKO will reimburse the customer $200 for providing the shingle samples and photographs. The homeowner's cooperation is vital to properly and timely administer each claim in accordance with the limited warranty. I would urge the homeowner to comply with the detailed instructions in the claim kit and provide all the materials necessary to administer the claim.Review fromAmerican R

1 starI’m a general roofing contractor who up until recently used Tamko shingles! I had Tamko titan shingles installed on my customers roof, and the customer tried to make a claim through the warranty department 2 months after install and they rejected him even though the shingles that were installed on his roof was a bad, defective batch, (was told this by my supplier) and they were cupping all over his roof they still rejected the claim! If this is the way, TamKo is going to deal with my customers I decided not to buy Tamko shingles anymore until they can make this right!TAMKO Building Products, LLC
Date: 05/10/2023
TAMKO records do not indicate any claim has been received for Titan shingles that exhibited cupping in Louisiana. Titan has been a very popular shingle so if someone is having this type of issue, we certainly want to know about it and will gladly start a claim, Please send an email with you customer's name and address and we will dig into this immediately.Review fromIvan Y

TAMKO absolutely honors (and abides by) the limited warranty that is associated with the sale of TAMKO shingles. TAMKO's files do not show a claim initiated by the individual who submitted this review but if he will send an email to [email protected] we will look into your claim and get back with you immediately.Review fromKimberly N

1 starI ordered a mobile home and Tamko shingles were the product they put on and when we received our mobile home we then eventually realize that the shingles were old very very old! So sad that a company can do such Shady business I put in for them to replace my shingles for new ones and they denied me! Save your money this company is a scam.TAMKO Building Products, LLC

TAMKO manufactures shingles which are sold to distributors who sell them to contractors and customers. TAMKO does not install shingles or dictate what shingles (or the age of the shingles) on structures anywhere. We simply manufacture quality shingles. I hope this clears up the confusion regarding TAMKO not having a role whatsoever on the age of shingles installed on your mobile home.Review fromBRIAN H

1 starWe had professionally installed TAMKO Lamarite 50-year shingles. After 14 years they began cracking. In year 16 it got so bad we pursued the warranty so we could replace all the shingles. TAMKO created an extravagant warranty procedural list that included paying for shipping of at least 2 of their heavy shingles. And they gave themselves the option to deny our claim for any reason. Lamarite shingles were discontinued by TAMKO because they failed, and yet they still require their past customers to prove their deficiencies. TAMKO is not a customer friendly company. Avoid their products.TAMKO Building Products, LLC

TAMKO's process for warranty claims is consistent with other warranty process. Samples are needed to prove 1) the actual manufacturer of the product (TAMKO receives many samples that turn out to be manufactured by other companies); and 2) if there is a manufacturing issue present as it administers warranty claims in accordance with the limited warranty that was applicable at the time of purchase.Review fromDiane I

1 starIn 2009 we replaced our roof with Tamko 30 year shingles. At that time apparently the warranty was printed on the shingle packaging. We never saw it as that packaging went to the landfill. We were very assured by the roofer that these were 30 year shingles. As a matter of fact we upgraded to them. Now little over 12 years and these shingles are failing. I filled a claim and they sent a certificate for replacement shingles for only half the roof with no argument that these shingles were defective and a $200 check for labor. How does a company have the right to claim they manufacture a 30 year shingle when they fail less than half that many years? And then why should I not get the whole roof replaced including labor when a product is considered defective? I do not recommend these shingles or this company to anyone.TAMKO Building Products, LLC

I am sorry your roofer did not provide you a copy of your limited warranty. TAMKO does what it can to make the limited warranty available to prospective customers who care to review it. Besides printing the limited warranty on every wrapper of shingles TAMKO manufactures, the limited warranty is also printed in brochures that are provided to TAMKO distributors and available online at TAMKO.com so prospective homeowners (and their contractors) have the opportunity to read and compare our limited warranty to others as they consider which brand of shingles to buy. Your applicable 30-year limited warranty has a Full Start Period of five (5) years from the date of purchase in which TAMKO provides a certificate for replacement shingles and a certificate for the reasonable cost of labor to install them (excluding tear-off, removal and disposal of old shingles). Your Full Start Period expired in 2014. After the Full Start Period has expired, the limited warranty states that TAMKO will provide a certificate for replacement shingles prorated to take into account the amount of time the shingles have been in use on the roof. The limited warranty proration takes into account that the shingles performed for the expired portion of the limited warranty term - in your case, going on 14 years. Settling claims in accordance with the limited warranty helps ensure all of TAMKO customers are treated fairly and equally by sticking to the limited warranty associated with each individual purchase.
Please also note - the length of the term of your limited warranty is for 30-years. That is not the predicted life of the shingles. Shingles begin aging as soon as they are exposed to the elements of nature. The length of time the shingles will continue to perform their intended function of sheading water will depend on many factors, including weather, snow, intensity of UV rays from the sun, pollution, debris from nearby trees and other environmental factors which vary greatly in different environments and in different geographical locations. This is why it is difficult to predict how long shingles will last on every home which is why TAMKO offers a limited warranty and provides a remedy throughout the 30-year term in the event of a manufacturing defect which causes the shingles to fail to shed water.
Although you are not happy with the remedy offered under the terms of the limited warranty, I hope this helps explain the rationale behind the limited warranty.
