  Ok, so here's the deal: at first, I thought I had found a great car really easily with the help of one of the salesman. But I wanted my mechanic to doublecheck the car before I bought it. Grote's "Service Inspection" came back with some minor ************** new windshield wipers, one tire replaced, etc. My mechanic's service inspection turned up $3,000 DOLLARS in major repairs, including a cracked and leaking engine oil cooler (which alone was $1,200)! In fact, as I was driving it to my mechanic, I even smelled a burning smell that they definitely would have noticed. Got back to the dealership and told them that I didn't want the car...the salesman acted "shocked" at what the mechanic found (yeah right). Also, I had put $500 dollars down on the car, and I had to very firmly ask for it back before I walked out the door. I know their cars are cheap and look like a "good deal," but there is for sure a reason for that. If you don't want to end up feeling disillusioned and 100% lied to (plus paying huge repair bills), please think twice before shopping here! Also, if you hate pressure while car shopping, the salesmen/women literally pounce on you the minute you pull into the dealership. Would recommend Preferred Auto, *********, ********************************, or just about ANY other auto dealership before Grote. Beware, people!!

  Went to Grote in *******. After a tree fell on my car.. I had a week to find a new one and trusted Grote automotive in elkart and spoke to a man named ***** I think. My credit score was low but rebuilding. He said he would get me into a car / **** down and he I needed to trust him . Went there and I asked for this guy and the salesman said he's at the ********************* location. The sales guy got me a vehicle that I couldn't choose from but had no other choice. Before I left with the vehicle on the way out the door the salesman said come back and come back and we'll get you into something better. Call ***** in ******* to actually talk to the same salesman and he was not there so they transferred me to the *************** office and talk to the same guy ***** from before and he said that the salesman did not work there anymore and that he was going to have a meeting and get back with me and he got back with me through a text message and told me that I can go in that they're going to get me into a vehicle turns out when I went there the person the salesman that was supposed to have does not work there anymore is the sales manager and I was lied to and let's just say I still could not get into a different vehicle

  They **** gave us h*** with all the paperwork the day after we got the vehicle check engine light came on took it down there they said they fixed it nope took back 2more times the last time was the ac they said the compressor was the ** but wouldn't pay for it only half we hadn't had the car a month yet we don't have half they're refusing to take care of it wouldn't go there wouldn't recommend anybody else go there there are sham they need to be shut down

  Called to speak with ****! Left a message about one of our experiences at the ******* location and ask to have **** call me back. No call back, so I called again and was told **** does not talk to know one and I was told he has people handle complaints! Apperantly maybe **** should start getting involved with his business. The website and the company are basically predators! You have to give them your contact information before you can even look at their inventory and as soon as you click so you can view anything yiur phone rings with a sales person on the other end. Then the sales lady I spoke to said they had what I wanted in a used van and if not at that location they can get it. I said you have vans there and she said yes. So I drove 12 miles and get there and not a single van to be found. Sales force is all commission based and ***************************** does not care what they do! I would never send anyone to Grote Automotive! It is a joke like his lame commercials! Nothing but hype and liars!

  I have advised my family and friends to stay away from this "dealer" ship...The entire business model is a scam from the moment you speak to them on the phone. They are trained to lie. I am not a disgruntled ex-employee nor was I foolish enough to make a purchase with this business. The scam begins when you say Hello. Their only job is to get you off the phone and in the door. They will say that you do not need money down. You can have the worst credit score in the country and they'll promise that you will be approved.I fell for the lies and opened the showroom door. That's when they swarm. I will not be using names as I do not wish to embarrass the people who are trying to bring home a paycheck. The process is grueling and they use tactics that I would describe as a minor strong armed dance that is choreographed by an aggressive "manager". I had been off work for 8 months. In that time, my bills began falling behind. Once I was able, I returned to work at a new facility. I make an above average wage and I had a down payment.However, from the moment I mentioned my down payment they began to find little ways to increase the cash I would hand them. I said No. They tried many times.Now at this point they had not shown me a cat nor asked which car I wanted.ALL THE CARED ABOUT was how much cash I would handed them.As my wife and I became frustrated we got up to leave. They stopped us at the door and actually asked if I had any firearms to sell.Well the truth is, HE asked if I had a gun I could slide in...Nice...There are many many other things I could mention. It would sound like I am making it up for dramatic effect.We left. They called and called and called ..Then I began to receive letters from creditors. Two to four letter per day for over one month. No exaggerating.Dear God do not do business with these people.

  Worst experience buying a car I went in and got a 2014 ******* and the car was doing fine for a few weeks I started noticing multiple problems with the car main problem I was seeing is the gas mileage is dropping really quick I had the car for a few weeks it was fine I was getting **** miles per gallon and all of a sudden I was getting **** miles per gallon I made a appointment for them to look at it they told me nothing was wrong with the car the mileage was reading perfectly fine I was speaking with technician ******* he was pretty rude telling me that if there was more gas in the car they could have looked at it more I had some questions about the car when I was going to pick it up and he told me on the phone he was was leaving and they didnt close for another hour he said I can leave your key in the car for you whenever you come to get it he also told me he was the one that drove the car to check it but when I got my paperwork it told me the in mileage and the out mileage never changed just not a good experience for my first time buying a car
