Purchased a 2021 ***** equinox in January of 2024. Found out in February 2024 that it had a cracked piston. My first car payment wasn't even due yet. I contacted the dealership, they had their shop look at it and they disputed that there was anything wrong with the vehicle. Upon me persisting, and speaking with the general manager *****, they agreed to have a ***** shop look at it, confirming the cracked piston. Since it had only been a month since purchase I pleaded with them to just take the vehicle back, they refused. Their solution was to put a refurbished salvage yard engine in it. I felt I had no other options since they refused to take the car back. Very shortly after their engine replacement we discovered that it had an oil leak and the car would go in and out of *** on its own while driving. Contacted the dealer again. They reprogrammed the *** system but insisted there was no oil leak, still refused to let us return the car. Upon getting it back this time it had a broken head gasket and they overfilled the oil in an attempt to cover up the leak. You could smell oil through the vents and even from the outside standing next to the vehicle. They still refused to refund the vehicle. Feeling as if I had no other options I suggested trading it in for another vehicle on their lot even though I didn't ever want to have dealings with them again. I was then informed by the general manager who was aware of all the previous issues that they would only give me $13,900 as trade in value for the vehicle they sold me for $16,1990 when I purchased it in January.Business Response

I am sorry that you feel we have not fulfilled our
obligation to you about your vehicle purchase. Our return policy states
that you have 7 days or 150 miles to return the vehicle. The time
requested to return was outside this window. The vehicle you purchased had a 3
month or 3k mile powertrain warranty which is what we applied when replacing
the engine. You had the option of purchasing additional coverage at the
time of purchase to cover the vehicle for an extended amount of time, but you
chose to self-insure. You then contacted me weeks later stating the
engine was leaking oil again. We took care of this situation at this
point on good will to attempt to keep you a happy customer. As far as the
offer on your vehicle we found the highest 3rd party bid we could
find in order to help get you out of the car. If you would like you can
contact me at 6186242277 ext 1532 to discuss further.Initial Complaint

Apologies about your experience with us. We feel this was a misunderstanding as we have a signed credit application from you which gives us the right to run your credit. We were simply trying to save you time and energy by being able to do all your paperwork at one time instead of having to go back and forth between the dealership and the bank. Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.

I purchase my car May 12, 2023. Everything went well. It came time to title my car and went to the DMV and did not receive my title yet. I didn't realize that I did not receive my title. I received it and went to the DMV again. The date that it was issued on my title was June 16, 2023. So my title was printed off a month and 4 days after I purchased it. When I went to the DMV they said the issue and sale date do not match. They g*** me the 425 Form and I went to the DMV for the third time. They said the date of the title was issued a month and 4 days apart from purchase and they said they could not give me my plates. I spoke to someone at ********** ***** then to Ken that works there. On Tuesday, I reached out to Ken and he said he resigned from working at ********** *****. So now I am trying to figure out how to get my title to get my plates. It has been 5 months, no answers, no one is communicating with me.
I just want my title.Business Response

I had my vehicle served 09/28/2023 at 10:40am at Auffenberg Mazda in Shiloh Illinois. I took my car in for a monthly oil change and tire rotation. I also ended up having them diagnose my check engine light. When I gave them my keys, my car was running fine. Yes it had issues but none of them are major enough to actually affect my vehicle. It’s all minor maintenance like brakes and filter changes and now to find out my O2 sensor. They did the oil change and the inspection and quoted me over 5 grand in work that allegedly needed done. I paid them $207 for their time and services and was sent on my way. I pulled out of their parking lot and had billows of white smoke so thick from my exhaust that I could not see out of my back windshield. My car was also making cracking/popping noises it was not making before I took it to them and would not accelerate. I would try to give it gas and my car would just stall. I couldn’t go above 30 my entire drive home. I took it to another mechanic to find out they botched my oil change by overfilling my engine block by 2 quarts and they left my oil filter leaking. He had to drain out all 7.4 quarts of oil that they put in my 5.3 quart engine. He said the cracking, popping and smoke was from the fact that they had my engine so overfilled that it had nowhere to go besides into my cylinders. He told me I was lucky it didn’t cause any damage to my engine because having that much oil in it is just as bad as have no oil in it. I spent $207 with them on Thursday only to have everything they did redone by another mechanic on 09/29. I’m extremely unhappy and would like to get my money back.

We have attempted multiple times to reach out to Ms **** in reference to the concern and have not heard back. If she has documentation present that the vehicle was overfilled, we would indeed take care of the reimbursement. We are attempting to make contact with her to resolve concerns about her visit.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:They have contacted me to try to resolve the issue, though after bringing my concerns to them in person after the visit and being dismissed, I do not feel comfortable corresponding with the business directly and would rather respond where there is record of it. I have attached the receipt Auffenberg gave me the day off for proof of purchase there and also included my invoice from where I got the oil change redone. I did have to get a duplicate copy printed out as I misplaced the original, hence the reason it’s dated for October 7th instead of September 29th. **** has stated if you have any questions or concerns regarding the ticket he gave me to please contact him at his shop at ************. He also highlighted his notes of my vehicle being overfilled on oil. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
