I was a resident of River Crossing Apartments from 02/04/2023- 11/30/2023. This being my first apartment as an adult, I was excited and new to the whole process. On 12/01/2023 I paid my breaking lease fee of $1,250 as told by the leasing manager ***** and returned my keys to him in hand as he left for the day on his moped scooter. Time had past after I had moved into my new apartment with my friend and on 03/14/2023 I received a call from a random number calling to inform I owe the apartments an amount of money and if it wasn’t paid by the end of the month it would be reported in collections. Confused because I had been moved out for some time now, I called my old apartments to get more information on the situation immediately after. When ***** had picked up the phone I told him about my previous call and asked to get more information. He said I have someone in the office right now can you hold on a second I will call you right back. I received no call back. On 03/22/2023 I called back to see about the information I inquired about and it went straight to voicemail. The next day , 03/23/2023, I called again knowing they were closed to leave a voicemail because I was traveling out the country that day and wanted them to have a voicemail waiting for them Monday morning from me. I still received zero response. So on 04/02/2023 I reached out again because I received notification my credit score had decreased due to that I had a collections reported. They opened at 08:30 and I waited until 08:31 to call, once ***** answered I stated the reason for my call and he said that he had just gotten in and to hold on a second. I told him that he had told me to hold on last time and I never got a response back, immediately after that he hung up the phone. I called back to see if it was an error or poor connection but it went to voicemail after 2 rings. I stepped back for a second to gather myself before calling once more and leaving a voicemail detailing my disapproval next steps.

I moved out of River Crossing January 2022 and I paid all the fees required. A year later I receive a notice from a collection agency that I owe $****** for pet damage and replacement of carpet. 1) I was never contacted *y the apartments about this *efore it was sent to a collection agency; 2) I never had a pet; and 3) I lived in my apartment for 4 1/2 years, carpet replacement would *e normal wear and tear.

**** ***** was charged only $*** *ecause the kitchen floor was damaged as well as the carpet was ruined; this was not normal wear and tear. River Crossing had to pay $******** to replace the damaged flooring. The additional charges owed are for unpaid utilities.

I am rejecting this response *ecause:

I have received no communication about any damage to the kitchen floor or carpet. What was the damage? Was it where the maintenance people pulled out the oven and scratched the floor? Not my responsibility to fix what maintenance did. The carpet was in fair condition when I moved into the unit. Four and half years in an apartment IS wear and tear.  Nor have I received any notice about unpaid utilities. What utilities? Why haven't I received an invoice for those?  I paid everything that I was told was required *efore I moved and then my account was disabled *y the apartments.

    Regards,

    **** *****
