There is a reason they don’t let people review them on Facebook. If you came here to see if you should work with them I wouldn’t. It’s been a very drama filled experience. Unless you love drama and stress I would look for someone else. It’s so intense that when I was getting upset no matter the reason Joey D asked me if I was off my mental health meds. If this isn’t enough to keep you away we’ll good luck. Run and run fast you won’t regret it. He understands that most people have no clue what is involved in building plans that’s why you hire them. Be carful when dealing with any any contractor really just make sure take your time.
Templar Contracting Response

This complaint, is the epitome of an entitled customer pouting because he didn't get his way. ********************** is by far the most abusive, unreasonable, and belittling customer I have ever had. I, and my team, have been berated by this man for almost a year now.
The reason ********************** cannot access our business or personal ********* is because he is blocked.
The drama has been extremely one sided, as ************************** biggest complaints are that I follow the contract that we both signed......Yes, you read that correctly. Besides the fact that he took several months having me make changes to the contract before signing (A good indication that he reviewed the contract), we discussed thoroughly what was included and what was not. He, as the homeowner, went to his own architect and engineer, designed the plans, approved them, and then gave them to me to price out (I had no involvement in that stage at the homeowner's request). At this point, any contractor takes the plans, asks questions on finishes, and prices the job according the plans. I did this, ********************** was satisfied with the pricing, and we signed the contract.
When dealing with an existing or new septic tank, you cannot submit for a building permit until you get the septic inspected, get permitted and approved through the health department, and make any changes, if applicable. All of this was completed in a timely manner, ********************** did not like that the health department (Not me) made him expand his drainfield, but that was the way it was. At that point, we submitted to the building department and waited. It took a long time (Again, nothing to do with Templar), corrections needed to be made multiple times (Again, HIS architect and engineer), which took very long periods of time. While waiting on those corrections, nothing can be done. After a few months, we received the permit, I informed ********************** that we could start in a week. We scraped the lot, were ready to build footings, and he stopped me. He said, I want to make this addition larger, what we made the plans for isn't big enough, and right now my You Tube money is coming in strong. So, we had to literally start over. His architect had to draw new plans (Which this time I was involved in helping), they took forever to complete again, but after the plans were done, we had to resubmit the plans and go through the same process. During this time, he called me names, berated me, yelled at me, cursed at me, and refused to accept that I have nothing to do with the permitting timeframe. I told him we had a good relationship with the building department, which we do, but it still takes time whether we like it or not. There literally was no way to make this gentleman happy.
He informed me that he was bipolar, so there were times that I would have to deal with it. No offense to him or anyone with bipolar disorder, but I did not anticipate the behavior I received. I never asked him if he was off his meds, after hundreds of text messages and calls calling me names.....I asked him if there was a better way for me to handle his disorder, and if he had any advice (This is in email form for proof as well). He has slandered me on ********* google, and now my BBB, and I am over it. He makes changes and adds on to the work, and he believes we should pay for it. That is not how it works.
We work so hard to feed our families. I have worked in this community my whole life, and in the industry for over two decades....I have never been treated like this and it is time customers take some accountability also. I am literally building an addition with my team, while he refuses to let me on his property to inspect my own work. I am making the best of a bad situation, but being harassed constantly is unacceptable.
This review is unfair, unfounded, and ********************** is not looking for any sort of peaceful resolution, he has told me that his goal is to ruin my business.
Thank you.

Joey is a (IMO) narcissistic and a liar. Do not trust this contractor. I have his lying text messages. Lies through his teeth and even invokes his daughter as some sort of credibility. He manipulates text messages that confirms his dishonesty. STAY AWAY from Templar Contracting as Joey is (IMO) narcissistic and a liar.Templar Contracting Response

I'm Joey D., owner of Templar Contracting. As you can see, I am a new and proud member of the BBB, I take it very seriously, treat all of my clients with respect, but this guy is not ok and I did nothing wrong to him. It is absolutely inappropriate to even mention my kids.
This is absolutely absurd. This man is mentally ill, and constantly berates me via text message (Which I can show you).
I originally went to Mr. *******'s home on July 1st 2022. He wasn't very friendly, told me that he had ptsd or something from the military I believe (Not positive on those details but something of the sort). He told me he was in no rush, and to take as much time as I needed. I admittedly did take to long, as I was going through a transition buying my partner out, but I offered to discount the job. He said basically no problem he is getting other estimates and I have time. Five days after that he begins one of his raging texts "Are you jerking me around? You sound like ******** / Is this the way the job would go if I hired you / In other words dont bother me" I told him I was at the dr with my daughter as she was sick and so was I, apologized for not getting pricing, but he told me not to bother at this point, and I told him I do not believe we were a good fit, and he would have to find someone else....that was August 30th 2022. I didn't hear anything from him again until October 28, 2022 when he sent me copies of voided checks (No idea why or to who), and copies of his bank balances. He said" I don't know why you're such an *******. I got the first hint when you said you were going to take off a $1,000. Then I knew you were an ******* when you said you were going to fly back just to give me an estimate. Why do you got to play games why are you an *******." I advised him he told me not to bother hum and I didn't, and asked why he was sending his banking info and checks, no response.....then this
He is not my client, never gave him a price, contract, or anything to work together, and he is not only lying, but he is super aggressive, and not mentally stable. I know you will all do the right thing, investigate, and see that I did nothing wrong. I have all of his text messages too to corroborate everything I said. Thank you
