Dishonest Practices Avoid at All Costs I had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with this car rental company. They lure you in with deceptively low rental prices, but once you arrive to pick up your vehicle, they aggressively push unnecessary add-ons and essentially force you to pay for things you neither need nor want.Despite arriving fully prepared with third-party insurance (which was already paid for) and comprehensive coverage through my credit card, they refused to honor it and insisted we purchase their overpriced in-house insurance. There was no option to waive it, no matter what documentation we provided. On top of that, they demanded we purchase their toll pass, even though we brought our own, which works perfectly well with our existing ********** became clear this is a deliberate tactic advertise cheap rentals to get you in the door, then pressure or coerce you into buying overpriced extras to make up the difference. When we tried to push back and question these practices, things took an even worse turn.After a tense back-and-forth where we ultimately agreed reluctantly to pay for their extras just to get on with our trip, the staff suddenly declined to rent the car to us entirely, offering no explanation at all. This was after wasting our time, money, and energy trying to resolve things in good faith.This company operates in bad faith and clearly has no regard for transparency, honesty, or customer service. I strongly urge anyone considering them to look elsewhere. There are plenty of rental companies that **** engage in these bait-and-switch tactics.Business Response

Hi,
Customers received prior arrival a voucher with the company's terms and conditions. Also, when they are booking our services through the website, these terms and conditions are display in order for them to have all information available. The company works only with certain insurance companies and proper documentation must be shown in order to be accepted. Regarding tolls, vehicles have a sunpass sticker attached to the windshield and is registered under the company's sunpass account along with the plate number of the vehicle. It's the main reason why it's not allow the use of personal devices. Both company and customer will be charge under this practice; causing losses to the company. The company refused to provide service to avoid any conflict.

In April 2025, I used Economy Bookings to rent a car from Clubs Car Rental located at ******************************************. When I booked online, the total price was $440. However, when I arrived, I was told for the first time that I had to have auto insurance with $500,000 property damage (nobody has this much insurance and FL only requires $10,000 by law) or else I had to purchase their insurance for $49 per day, which basically doubled my rental cost for the week. Given that I was just starting my vacation with three small kids and they had been on a plane all day, I felt trapped and like I had to accept. The person next to me was arguing with the Clubs representative and left without renting a car. Then, to make matters worse, after we left Clubs, it turned out that the rear air conditioning in my vehicle did not work, which was very uncomfortable for the kids. I contacted Clubs and was told to drive back to them to exchange the car, but I was an hour away roundtrip on a vacation. They refused to come to me to exchange the car, and I was stuck with it for the rest of the trip. When I dropped off the car, they made no attempt to make up for the faulty car or apologize. When I went to pick up the car I was told Autounion/ Clubs Car Rental would not accept ************* because it is not one of the insurance companies they work with. I showed the the voucher and dithery said they have their own policies and if I wanted trip rent the car it would cost me additional $39.99 per day for the next 8 days. Seeing how unhappy I was with that crazy high price they said they could do it for $35 a day. This would cost me additional $280 on top of what I paid. This car rental operation is nothing but a bait and switch luring customers with low price only to hammer them with additional chargers. I have full coverage with *** that covers any rental car I drive and I offered to show it to them but they were not interested. Oct. 06, 2024 USD 800 paid on the spot and signed to get a good car for a family to travel zo *******. went out of the office to find a very old car that is not safe to drive with worn out tires tread and strong unpleasant smelling interiors. we refused to take this vehicle and after discussions they exchanged it with a similar car, so we took it. Terrible ***************** From start to finish, the customer service was exceptionally poor. Despite multiple attempts to reach out with concerns, responses were either delayed or non-existent. The lack of support was incredibly disappointing.Fraudulent Oversell of Insurance: I was charged for insurance coverage even though I already had insurance from a third party. This seemed like a blatant attempt to upsell unnecessary coverage. I felt pressured into paying for something I didn't need, which felt downright fraudulent.Misleading Vehicle Assignment: Although my car agreement clearly specified a ****** Corolla or a similar model, the sales agent provided me with a Kia ***** To add insult to injury, a ****** Corolla was available, but I was still given a different vehicle. This lack of adherence to the agreement was unacceptable.Failure to Address Complaints: After expressing my dissatisfaction and raising concerns about the insurance oversell, I never received a follow-up call or resolution. The disregard for addressing these issues only compounded my frustration.Given these problems, I am requesting a refund for the insurance charges, which I believe were applied fraudulently. Transaction took place July 24th -28th I paid ****** I sent over 10 email communications and called over 20 times, as was unable to reach a live attendant. When I finally spoke with someone, they were completely incompetent. I was rented a faulty vehicle, that would not start for 2 days. I had to pay an outside company for a jump. The rental company informed that the rental had a new battery, but if this was the case, why did it require a jump when no lights were left on. Also, if it was simply the battery, the car would have driven smoothly thereafter, but we barely were able to return it, due the vehicle struggling to drive. The rental company hasn't offered any compensation, let alone an apology. I hope no other consumer has to deal with what my family dealt with while we were on vacation. To have rented a vehicle that won't start and to be told that you have to figure it out while out of town on vacation is insane!Initial Complaint

Typically bait and switch scheme. Made reservations for car with clubs car rental, everything seemed good til I show up and pick up car.I was told previously I needed auto insurance which I carry full coverage with state Farm.After showing my insurance declaration page I was than told my property damage was only $100,000 and that $500,000 was the required amount I needed. I was not allowed to call State Farm to increase my coverage. After talking with corporate I was only required $300,000.Regardless this should of been stated to me when making the reservation. ******************** made a reservation through a third-party called Economy Bookings. Clubs Rental Car is a service provider for the third-party.
As its clearly stated by ************************, the promotional discount advertise in the booking is subject to terms and conditions. If you dont meet the requirements there are additional charges that must be pay at the counter.
All the information is available to the customer prior their arrival. If ************************ was not satisfied with the service, he could have refused renting the vehicle and cancel the reservation free of charge.

We reserved a rental car through Economy Bookings (reservation number B71195492) to be used from April 26, 2023-May 3, 2023 in the ************** area. The car came from Clubs Cars branch location at ***************************************************************** *****. We paid Economy Bookings $15.02 down payment upon reservation, leaving a balance of $118.93 upon arrival (total: $133.95). When on site to pick up the car, things changed. A processing and facility fee was added ($51.24), a sales tax was added ($18.28), and additional liability insurance ($209.93). We were told that we didn't have enough property damage liability on our personal insurance as they require at least $300,000. Our coverage has $100,000, so ******* more is needed. That would cost $209.93 for 7 days. What do we know? We're two 72 year olds that just flew into town that evening carrying our bags, tired and hungry. I thought of calling our insurance people back home for some insight about this insurance matter but it was after hours. So you sign whatever and move on. I did talk to our insurance people when we got home. They said it would cost $9.00 to add an additional $*******. liability coverage, and that was for 6 months! I also learned that the **************** requires only $10,000 liability coverage when renting a car. What Clubs Cars is doing is a bait and switch tactic for unsuspecting, weary travelers. We hereby request a refund for most, if not all of the unnecessary insurance coverage and any other overstated "surprise" charges (processing fee?--what is that?)Thank you.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:(1) Under the voucher heading: "It Is Important," it says that..." CDW insurance is not included in the prepayment price and is purchased separately, at the request of the client." I, the client, did not ask for the additional insurance. I was told that purchasing additional insurance was mandatory, or a car would not be provided.
(2) In the voucher under the heading "Your Rental Excludes," states that insurance is not included. Clear enough, but it we had verification of insurance beyond the minimum required by ******* state law already.
(3) Even if the additional liability insurance was legally required, the cost was extremely excessive. According to our personal insurance agent, the additional cost would be ***** per year, or about .50 per day. The amount charged was $209.93 for 7 days.
(4) Upon review of the Clubs Car Rental Agreement #****, (see attached) under the heading "Collision Damage Waiver (CDW): (paraphrased)
X Agree to purchase CDW or,
X Decline to purchase our CDW and (assume) responsibility
The item initialed by LVS was option 2-Decline
Even so, we were charged $209.93.
We thereby request a refund of $209.93, minus the true cost, if you wish, of $3.50 (.50/day)

I booked a rental car from Clubs Car Rental of ******* ******* through *************, an online car rental booking portal. The rental cost was $188 with the condition that I provide my own insurance meeting their rental requirements. Please see Doc 1: Booking Voucher At the Clubs Car counter in ******* (2 April 2023), they refused to accept my insurance binder print out and forced their own insurance charge on me, saying that I need to show them a valid insurance declarations page. The person at the counter promised me that if I mailed them the document, they would refund the insurance charge. I had no choice but to accept it since it was a Sunday and there was no way to contact my auto insurance agency. On Monday 3 April 2023, I contacted my insurance agency (State Farm) to ask for a document that would be acceptable to Clubs and they (State Farm) assured me that I already have the legally acceptable insurance proof. I forwarded this to Clubs and they refused to acknowledge my email and they did not refund me. They NEVER answer their phone so I was holding a conversation with someone on WhatsApp, and they refused to help me either, and asked me to mail their management team. I did that too. Still no refund. Please see Doc 2: Mail trail on insurance document. I also contacted ************* to help and they did absolutely nothing. Finally I returned the car at the end of the rental, exactly as prescribed; fuel tank full, clean, no damage and yet, they charged me an additional $25 from my security deposit!! I mailed them to ask why I was charged and they did not respond. Please see Doc 3: Mail trail on security deposit. This is extortion and unlawful. They also refused to accept EZpass which is legal in *******. Hi,
According to Clubs Car Rental terms and conditions stipulated in the customer's voucher. The insurance policy has to be issue 15 days prior the pick up date. Please see attached the policy document sent to our email by the client. Customer updated his auto insurance on the pick up date. Also, customer chose the Sunpass Sticker Activation (Plus Cost of the Tolls); which means he activated the Sunpass Sticker but had to pay his toll consumption at the end of his rental agreement. We have added the rental agreement so you can verify the information mentioned.

I am rejecting this response because:1. There is no law that states I need to buy/ amend my insurance at a particular stipulated time. The fact is, as long as my coverage meets your requirement DURING THE PERIOD OF RENTAL, it is valid. I checked this with my insurance company. So your argument is nonsense.
2. I did not pass through any tolls because I was navigating in that way. I have ****** maps to prove my point. Second, there was no bill provided to me in case you are charging me for tolls. You cannot just deduct any amount randomly.
3. **************** legally accepts EZPASS. It is UNLAWFUL for any rental company to force their toll subscription and this you will not be able to contest in any court. Your rules cannot be above the law of the land.
