Keiser University ******** campus mislead me by saying that I would be covered with financial aid and looped me into signing up for a private student loan they went over the signing for it very fast didnt really let me take a look at anything just kept talking to me and saying that its fine (a bait and switch) verbatim in the financial aid office they said its financial aid not an actual loan . They told me it would have to be paid after graduation just like all student loans. Payments started right away asking for $100 at a time. Keiser University knowingly wanted money from me and then when I went to reapply for financial aid they asked me to get a co-signer I was severely confused because I thought it was financial aid FAFSA they had me open a FAFSA ACCOUNT AND NEVER USED ANY OF THE ****** Now Im in collections for them because I refuse to pay them for all of the negligence and blatantly scamming me. They also will not give me my transcripts they told me Ill have to purchase them online but only after Ive paid them. I have brought this up to the school in person and never got an answer as to a solution. They knew when I was in school that I have learning and mental challenges and they took advantage of that to extort money from me. It looks as though they did take my Pell ***** though so thats fantastic would have been nice if they had ACTUALLY USED THE MONEY I HAD SITTING THERE WITH FAFSA absolutely awful businessInitial Complaint

I am a graduate of Keiser University and have spoken to ************************* ******************** at Keisers *************** She was kind enough to confirm for me that the records reflect I have a $0 balance owed. As I informed her that my call is driven from collections calls and two accounts listed on my credit report as being unpaid for approximately $20,000 the attached acccount ledger was provided by her to aid in my dispute. As directed by her I have disputed the debt directly with their debt collection agency and via the credit Karma, but it has not been removed from my credit report as of today, by the collection agency and instead the balance is increasing. To resolve this issue I am requesting that Keiser provides the same information to their debt collection agency so they cease and desist the actions causing adverse decisions to be made. I am also concerned that this is being handled out of compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act which I outlined in a recorded call with the debt collection agency.Customer Answer

I received a response directly from TransUnion as they found the supporting documentation confirmed Errors reported and as a result some of the record regarding Past Due Balance have been updated based on the account ledger ********************** provided that confirmed the balance is paid in full.
However, despite having received the complaint from BBB and TransUnion with supporting documentation that the balance is paid in full the collection activities continues and the balance continues to grow. My credit score has dropped 100 points.Customer Answer

President ****,Heres the reference number to the complaint with the BBB where as you have advised you never received- please note it has since been closed due to no response. You also advised that the record shows as what was provided to me by the **************** Keiser was paid by a private loan and at this time I have $0 balance. You further stated you believe the issue is outstanding with **** of **** ***** and not Keiser as you have received payment in full from the private loans with the ****.My concern is that the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act would require the entity in which You conclude Im indebted would report their collection activity along with their contact information to prevent the debtor such as myself from contacting Keiser- the wrong entity.I request that Keiser contact all three credit agencies and have the account removed from collections. Additionally, please contact your debt collection agency and have them cease and desist their adverse actions confirming Your records show I have never been in Collections with Keiser.Initial Complaint

The school has misled its students for decades. One good thing the department of education can do to stop the fraud in loans and financial aid would be to stop the school. I attended and ended up being told I would owe nothing to the college due to finacial aide. Later I get slapped with a $7,000 bill, which they swiftly send to collections. Now my balance with the college is $0!!!!! Any disputing and transaction is between ME and the COLLECTIONS agency they sent me to. And they still will not give me access to my transcript. I am about to start a new degree at a different school and they want my Keiser Transcript or I cannot get financial aide. No financial aide= no school for me. Is Keiser University really going to ruin my life over $7,000 that they got PAID OUT by a collections agency???? I'm running out of time. GIVE ME MY TRANSCRIPT!!!!!!!!!Initial Complaint

On 3/23/2022 signed up for online Keiser University and was told that tuition could range from ******** to ******** for an associate's Degree in medical billing and coding. They aggressively had me open many student loans accounts from different lenders for student loans. I finally withdrew from Keiser University on 5/23 due to racking up many different loans and them saying I owed even more money. They have racked up my total balance to over ******** for tuition and even say I owe an extra ********, which they are threatening to send to collections. They also claim they have refunded some of my direct student loans, as reflected in their itemized statement. But when checking my direct student loan balance, nothing has been refunded for those accounts. Also, they charged tuition on 4/3/2023 in the amount of ********* for the summer semester, which I withdrew from before those classes started, yet I am still being charged for them.Initial Complaint

Keiser University processed my enrollment as being a Veteran when I actually enrolled as a Veteran Dependent. Throughout the majority of my classes, I was told I had minimal out of pocket expenses. Then right before my last set of classes, I was told they enrolled me wrong, and because of that my final class would be $5000.00 out of pocket. I appealed to the **** to take two classes at once due to their error and was denied. Then FA told me just to make payments as I could afford to do so. I've now been placed in collections for the amount due. WITH ZERO communication from Keiser themselves.Initial Complaint

Keiser University refuses to let me graduate with my Bachelor's degree in ****************************** I only have one class left to go which is Statistics II. I tried reaching out to the teacher multiple times and I've gotten no help. I've tried using their onsite tutoring and they weren't helping me. No one in the school wants to help you. I decided to apply to another school to see if I could transfer my Keiser credits to ***, but that can't happen because the Keiser credits don't transfer. I would have to re-start my degree from scratch with ***. I've wasted time and money with a school that isn't credited and one can't transfer. I have reached out to the school and they have kept me on hold that I just gave up. The financial aid office even kept hounding me to take out loans in excessive amounts for 3 classes. $6000 for 3 classes and then they wanted me to take out another $6000 for that one Statistics II class?? Forget about it.Initial Complaint

Keiser University mislead me and tricked me into signing up for a private student loan. The financial aid employee I was working with suddenly was no longer there after she guided me into getting a private loan through an outside company which she helped me apply for and told me it would have to be paid after graduation, but instead payments began immediately. Keiser University knowingly drained all my student loan opportunities and are now withholding my transcripts and not returning any calls or attempts to obtain them. I entrusted them to help guide me at a young age into the best path, but instead they took advantage of my situation and collected as much money as they could from me at a young age because they knew I trusted them. I deserve my transcripts so I can move on and do what is best for my education and career. The ****************** frowns upon colleges withholding transcripts for payment. It's an egregious abuse of power.Initial Complaint

05/25/2022 ***** The advisor introduced me to signing up for school saying that fees will be waived - after a few months I had an accident and I was unable to attend the school due to my spine surgery. I submitted the forms, everything was canceled, and spoke again with the advisor. They said that no fees will be charged and that it was waived and since I never attend the school there was no reason to have any fee. After the advisor left the school after 9 month i received a letter charging me a fee and I don't agree with it - because they said even whatever i signed it was canceled because i didn't attend the school and that I will not be charge any fees, because it was waived and since I didn't start the school there was no reason for they charge me. I am so frustrated with them for their deceptive/ misleading conduct. They are not even trying to resolve it , they are just sending me letters and calling me all the time to go to their school. They promise that I will have no charges even though I have emails saying that they will waive the fees. My application was canceled due to my health< I had spine surgery. And I was in bed for about 4 months. They must provide me with credit because Im disputing the amount they are charging me. Im so glad that didn't work out, because they don't have a word that comes out of their mouth. I'm disputing the charge.
