Not long after buying my timeshare with **************** in **********, ********* I was contacted by points unlimited. This was unsolicited by myself. They contacted me.. points unlimited stated they could sell or rent my unused weeks through my timeshare. I would have to pay is a marketing fee of $1800. They stated I could cancel within 10 day. In two weeks I will be approaching my 180 days of marketing with points unlimited. Within this 180 days I may have received four offers for rentals, which turned out to be not available, one was available but then was canceled by points unlimited or their client. I called them two weeks ago with my concerns and they stated they would get on it. I have not received any word from them since. I truly believe this is all a marketing scam to take your money you get nothing in return , I am Filing a complaint and I will be contacting points unlimited on November 1 when my 180 days expires seeking a refund, but I bet they will have some excuse. Do not fall for this you will not get anything in return. Its a marketing scam and I intend to seek legal action if I do not get my refund after November 1.

We have noted the account to review for offers in higher populated areas and are working diligently on more offers. We will follow up with an update.

I was told that points unlimited was a program that was going to help me with my *** weeks that I wasn't using and stated that if i pay up front a sellers fee for all six of my weeks in return i would be making $1,800 per week once its been rented out. However, the emails that are sent out by this company have time and time again are supposed reservations that are granted but they are not, I have made multiple attempts to see where i am at with my contract. they stated 180 days then i can leave but now i cant get a refund if i do not wish to continue, and that i need to serve another 180 days which would be in April of 2025 to get out of my contract which it doesn't state that. They refused to give me a refund because they have failed to do what is expected of them.

*****, per your agreement it states we will incur all costs if it does take longer than 180. We have this  to make sure you get the weeks/pts booked and released for you in a timely manner. Sometimes it may take longer due to unexpected circumstances that are out of our control however we will make sure you get more offers out to you in a timely manner.

I believe this is a scam. I was contacted by this company the last two years. The first year I told them no. This year I gave in because they said I would get a refund on my deposit if they didnt rent any of my extra time share bonus weeks. I asked them several times and they said yes if within 6 month they did not rent any of the weeks then I would get my money back. They also said I would receive rentals within 60 days. At 60 days I called because I had not received anything. They told me they have up to 180 days to rent. I told them I wanted to cancel but they said they have 180 days. Now I am looking for a refund of my deposit because it has been past 180 days with no rentals. I also told them ******** asked if I was renting for someone else when I called for absolutely. At that point they told me their company wasnt doing anything illegal. I wish I wouldve have looked at the complaints prior to letting them take $1,596 from me.

We understand your concerns, upon further review on your account it looks like you got an offer on April 9th of 2024 which was available and got your voicemail. We left you a voicemail asking you to reach back out to us. We were contacting you to book that week in, but unfortunately since we did not get a response back from you we were not able to move forward with the booking process. We also sent an offer on May 28th 2024 with no response from your end. We do have a manager reaching out to you to go over your account and concerns as well as any questions you may have at that time.

I am rejecting this response because: I had other offers I did answer and everything was always booked. If the call says spam I do not answer. Also in May I was not available to respond. How do you charge someone in advance for something that may not even happen? Legit businesses charge a fee after a job is completed. Why would I invest money on a maybe we will book your timeshare or maybe we wont but you still pay us anyway? That doesnt make sense. You cant tell people over the phone that they will get their money back if nothing is booked. This is a scam because you dont have to book anything at all and keep someones money with no repercussions.

    Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because:

why is it my responsibility to check availability when you are the ones Im paying to book reservations? If this is a legit business I should not have to check for availability. The other two offers I received there was no availability.  If Im the one checking availability, I could just book things myself. It makes no sense. What you guys do with this company.

2/7/2024 Points Unlimited called me with an offer to rent my unused bonus weeks thru RCI. They told me over and over that they guaranteed that they would rent them all for me and I would see something in 60 days. They said it was a simple process all I had to do was pay them their advertising fee and then they find people looking for places to vacation/stay. I ***eated several times the question that if they didn't rent them I could request my refund, the customer service *** on the phone ensured me yes! They gave me a written guarantee that stated they would rent my timeshare weeks out for me and that I could cancel any time for a refund if I didn't receive any offers. I have received 4 emails requesting availability of locations that are not available and do not have the dates they are requesting as promoted I ***lied with alternative locations or dates and they have declined. I sent a letter in writing to them with a copy of the original agreement and statement of guarantee and they will not give me a refund since I had "4 offers". The requests had not dollar amount offer. I believe this company is taking advantage of people like me who already were taken by a timeshare company! They charged me $1800 and I have had nothing in return!

    Business Response

    Date: 07/23/2024

We understand your concerns. Per the agreement, you can cancel at any time but that is not for a refund. The refund option is within the first 10 days of signing up. 1/25/2024 - received phone call regarding my time share with Westgate. Business claimed to be an advertising company that could help me sell weeks with my timeshare that I would not be using this year. Company charged me $2394.00 as a membership fee in order to list property, with guarantee that my weeks would be rented out through them. Offered a 7 day period to change mind on agreement. I contacted them within 7 days, after conferring with my Westgate member line, and asked for a refund and declined offer. They agreed, but never refunded me the money.

I received an unsolicited cold call from an unknown number ************** saying it was ****** (or a similar sounding name) from My Points Unlimited. She told me she could sell my unused Hilton Grand Vacation Time Share stays. She assured me there were no issues with my timeshare contract to do so. Come to find out thats not the truth. I agree to the contract I signed under false pretenses. She told me she required $900 upfront to market 3 weeks at my property, but started off by asking for significantly more (over $2000). A static website without the ability to book was presented to me as advertising (**************************************************). There is no traffic being driven to this generic web page. Even if there was traffic, they couldnt book on the site. She guaranteed that I would have my timeshare weeks rented at $1800/week within two to three months on many occasions during our call. A flat out guarantee, which I now know is impossible because you cant predict supply/demand. I was advised that they are likely scammers and I should report them.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 03/18/2024

I double checked dates and times because I realized the call took place a few days earlier than I thought. I was also able to find the name of the person who called me (or likely the name they used). ****** confirmed that MyPointsUnlimited is a scam that goes by many names (see attached). ****** also confirmed that the agreement they made me sign breaks the rule of my timeshare. On 2/8/2024 @ 5:36 PM for 70 minutes I received an unsolicited cold call from an unknown number (**************) saying it was *********************** from My Points Unlimited. She told me she could sell my unused Hilton Grand Vacation RCI stays. According to her I was able to sell my unused benefits with RCI to offset the cost of my yearly maintenance fees. Supposedly there were six weeks I was able to sell, but I could only afford for her to market 3 weeks. She assured me there were no issues with my timeshare contract to do so. Come to find out thats not the truth. She told me she required $900 upfront to market 3 weeks at my property, but started off by asking for significantly more (over $2000). A static website without the ability to book was presented to me as advertising (**************************************************). According to the contract Members may also rent, trade, or sell property to other members or visitors on our site. but there is no function to book my property on the website, which can be seen in the screenshots. Clicking on the Portal Log in option at the bottom of the page reveals another static web page that simply states Address
    Phone
Email in plain text. There is no way to log into this website. Since there is no way to log into this website, there can be no claim that you need to have a membership or credentials to access booking on the site. There is also no traffic being driven to this generic web page, so no advertising is taking place. She guaranteed that I would have my timeshare weeks rented at $1800/week within two to three months on many occasions during our call. So I was guaranteed $5400 in the next 60 to 90 days for a $900 investment. A flat out guarantee, which I now know is impossible because you cant predict supply/demand. I signed the contract under those false pretenses. Namely:

I was assured that it wouldnt go against the rules of my timeshare. It blatantly did.

The contract stated that one would be able to book my property on their website. There was no function to do so. See screenshots and visit web URL in text body. Note that URL is still active as of 3/18 at 5:45 PM, further proving the web page is not bespoke to me. They likely reuse that URL with other victims. On 3/9 I told them what they were doing was against my  timeshare and to cease doing anything that would jeopardize my time share.

The web page they created was not being advertised, as described in the contract.
