In 2018, I purchased storm windows for my entire home from a company called Storm Tight Windows (Storm Tight******). The total cost was approximately $50,000. According to all of their paperwork, the purchase included a "Life of the Home" Lifetime Warranty. In March of this year, one of the windows had a large crack, inside the double pane, so i called the number on the original paperwork. After pushing several prompts, I spoke with a woman named *****. She said that her company, Leaf Home Enhancements, purchased Storm Tight, **** in 2021. She also said that while her company is able to handle repairs, the owner of the old company "chose to not transfer the warranty" so I would have to pay for the repair. I expressed my surprise and concern that this was illegal and she said she didn't know. I ended up having to pay $700 to have the window replaced. The company website still exists, ************************************************, and still advertises a Lifetime Warranty. I have filed complains with the *********************************, ********************************************************** and *******************************************************; each of which responded that the issue does not fall under their authority.

Leaf Home Enhancements purchased certain assets of Window Works/Comfort Shower and Bath in December of 2021. The purchase excluded warranty obligations, which remain the responsibility of the original owner.  We would be happy to address the concerns at our standard service rates.

I am rejecting this response because: when a business is purchased, the assets and liabilities go together.  I dont believe you can acquire one without the other.

First of all, I don't know what "Window Works/Comfort Shower" is.  My complaint is with regard to Storm Tight Windows.  More importantly, when one purchasses a business, I believe that you have to assume any and all liabilities along with the assets.

I received your phone message and sorry I didn't see the email come through. I did communicate with the business the expectation was to replace the front door only not the sliders they said that they can touch up and repair the rear sliders. So I guess we must proceed with them replacing the front door as they agreed and check their repair afterwards thank you so much for your help. ** ******

Contract signed 2/18/2022. $46,547 for windows and doors. Storm Tight windows was supposed to get the permit from ************** and install impact sliding glass doors and windows. The process was slow from the beginning, because of working with our local HOA. Then once approved Storm Tight Windows measured and sent doors and windows that they measured incorrectly. Then it took over 8 months to get new doors and windows. When the new doors were delivered several windows and doors failed. They needed to be replaced. We still have one door that has failed and become opaque. We still need new screen doors because they are too narrow for the opening. They need to replace the molding on the sliding door because they broke it on installation. The final permit is not complete with the city of **************. We have been approved to receive a substantial amount of money from My Safe FL Home to be used towards our purchase, but Storm Tight has dragged this out so long that unless we get an extension from My Safe FL Home, we will probably lose the money. I have called and texted and ***** ****** and his assistant ****, but all I get is we are working on it and we will call you back. They never return my call and I cannot get any information to on how they will complete the project and fulfill our contract. We have a warranty against defects.

I contracted the company to install a window and two doors. Finally, after being ghosted for several months, they came to install the window and doors and completed the job in January 2025. The city inspector came out to inspect the job and failed the installation because the right paperwork was not submitted for the items they installed. The company representative, who was onsite with the inspector was told specifically what he needed to bring and a few days later returned with the inspector and did not have the correct documents. The inspector partially approved the permits and told the company representative what they needed to submit to the city in order to close and approve the permits. This was on 1/30/25 and since then no resolution has been made. The city inspector tried to reach out to the company to resolve this and got no answer. I have called multiple time getting a voicemail box to someone or a call center operator, who takes down my information. I even have the number for the person handling the companies permits and all I ever get is a voicemail box that I leave a message on and never get called back. The one time, I was able to finally speak to someone named ****, who said they were going to resolve the issue got nowhere and now nearly 3 months have passed and no callbacks, feedback on the status, or even attempt to submit the required documents to the city has occurred. I am paying for the window and door, but believe the company is in breach of contract, since they did not pass inspection. They have the worst horrible service, and I don't know how they have an A + rating when there are so many complaints on ****** and other sites. Never ever will I work with them.

Our Customer Relationship Manager spoke with the customer and provided the time frame for the permit.

At this time, we are waiting on the permit to be processed through the city.

The manager provided the customer with their direct phone number and advised that they would follow up with them by the end of next week to provide an update.

I paid this company to replace my ordinary windows with impact windows. They contracted to attain all permits, replace the windows, get the permits inspected and approved and then finish the installation by sealing the inside.. all of this.. Four plus years ago.. and today they are still not completed. The inspections have not been done, the window installations are not complete on the inside. They give me the run-around when I talk to them. Theyve made zero effort to complete the job and DEMANDED all money up front. Now Im trying to sell my house and Im running into the problem of un-approved windows.

    Business Response

    Date: 02/24/2025

The job was completed in its entirety as contracted on 12/2/2020. Our local management team has been in contact with the customer as of 2/24/2025 and is working to have a final inspection scheduled with a third party as the customer has moved out of state.

    Business Response

    Date: 02/26/2025

We have an inspection scheduled on 3/6/2025 with arrival between 9:30am-10am.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 02/26/2025

This is not the first time *** complained about this company. The last time I complained they opened a new permit and sent someone out to the house. They told me that all that was needed was to send the engineering drawings to the city to get the permit approved and closed. Then as soon as I responded to the BBB on their response, as youre asking me to do now, everything halted. Im hopeful but not foolish. I believe that asking a consumer to give approval of a companys response before the issue has been resolved is unfair. A company can perform a couple of empty gestures long enough to get a customer to say theyre satisfied and then cease all actions. What youre doing doesnt help consumers.

One of the sliding doors, that has been installed for some time, has stopped locking. I contacted Storm Tight directly on 01/28/25 to request someone to fix it. They stated someone would contact me which no one did. I called the next day, and they stated that there were no notes stating that the call had occurred or that someone was contacted. Leaf Home contacted me and then a manager ***** from Storm Tight contacted me on the 30th. *** stated someone would go and fix the door on the 4th at 9:30am. The day and time came however, no one contacted me. I had to call *** who apologized as there was a priority inspection. It was rescheduled for the next day at the same time. The day and time came however, no one arrived. I called and texted *** and he did not respond. I contacted Leaf Home to explain the situation. They stated they would send another message and had to allow for 72 hours. Friday the 7th of February, I contacted them again that no one has contacted me. They said they would send a message to the service department. I explained that a similar situation has occurred in the past and asked what I am to do in order to avoid this situation from being extended. They said that all they can do is to keep sending messages.

On May ******* we signed with Storm Tight Windows to replace all windows and doors in our home. We gave them a deposit of $4000 and signed to finance the remaining $31,000. We were told 8-12 weeks to install. They finally came out September 19th to install. They installed all windows and finished the outside but could not finish the inside as they said the work had to be inspected before they could complete the inside. At that time they did not have the sliding glass doors as they stated they came in broken and would take an additional 4 weeks to arrive. In addition to this, the two entry doors were ordered with the wrong swing so could not be used and they had to reorder those as well. They also had to reorder the front windows and the master bath window as the ones brought did not have the grates in them. We were then told 6 weeks. It has been well over 6 weeks and we have had no communication from them. They will not return any calls. The finance company calls us weekly wanting to know if the job is complete so they can issue payment and we keep telling them No. this has been a frustrating issue and we still have stickers and wrap on all windows as they still have not completed this job. Still no doors and again they will not call us back. The total cost of this job is approximately $35,000.
