1 starI prepaid $292 for a rental car to GotRentalCars and Fox Rent-A-Car didn't have a record of the prepayment and didn't honor the voucher. It's been more than three weeks and I still haven't received a refund. All I've gotten is the runaround. Ugh. Beware: This place is a ripoff.Review fromKim L

1 starThe one and only time I've ever had a bad car rental experience was when I booked through GotRentalCars.com. I tried them because they were one of the few websites I found that allowed me to filter out electric vehicles, as I didn't want to have to figure EVs out on my vacation. They booked me for a "manager's special" with Thrifty and when I showed up at the counter, Thrifty told me the manager's special that day was an electric vehicle. How could that happen when I had filtered out electric vehicles? There was zero notice given that this was a possibility. In addition to the $235 I'd already paid GotRentalCars.com for my rental, I ended up having to fork over another $185 to Thrifty in order to get a gas vehicle. I have never felt more ripped off in my life. GotRentalCars.com should ensure you're getting what you want and paid for.GotRentalCars.com

Dear Customer, We are sorry that you had a bad experience picking up your vehicle with Thrifty. The filter you mentioned on our website does indeed enables to display 100% fully electrics only versus the rest of the vehicles. However the category that YOU had selected, as mentioned, was a "Manager's Special' which means that Thrifty's manager on duty at the rental location decides what vehicle to assign to your rental depending on availability on the lot. It is not guaranteed either Electric or thermal, you can not choose any features when you select this category. If you don't wish to drive the vehicle assigned by Thrifty you can always choose to go for an upgrade at the counter; wihich is what you did. Rental companies offer this Managers choice category at a lower price to attract customers but remember in this case you can not choose the features of the vehicle assigned.Review fromLuis R

5 starsI have been able to repeatedly rent through Gotrentalcars.com for all my trips and the experience has always been smooth. They also have great overall prices, for my destinations Gotrentalcars.com has always had the best deal.I never had an issue with my rentals and when contacting customer support to rebook one of my bookings, the customer service experience was amazing. 1 starDestroyed our trip for my brother's wedding. Rented for almost 2 weeks in *****, **. Arrived to pick-up car. Company apologized and said we had to do a credit check. I have no idea why, we were in full compliance of card, arrival time, etc. We were refused the rental, and the very sweet and apologetic agent said she would heavily notate our account that we came and were refused rental. She aranged for us to rent from another company. We wound up with a separate rental and insurance for the same time period. This cost us valuable time and money when we were already trying to coordinate with family for the wedding.Filed a request for reimbursement for both *************** before leaving the arrival airport rental location. When we returned home two weeks later we contacted for update and were told it wasn't complete yet. For the next several months I contacted, and was either told the inquiry was being investigated or there was no record of my claim. Ultimately, we went to our card for refund. We were told they strung us along too long and now we are outside dispute parameters.And now, the company sent us an email saying they have refused our request for refund because we did not show for pick-up. We 100% did and our airplane landing, original rental notes and the rental we had to get last minute in the next stall all affirmed we were ******** refund and paid twice for a car rental because they did not deliver.Review fromDalton B

2 starsUsed GotRentalCars.com several times without incident and recommended them often, but my December 2024 rental in ***** allowed me to see the awful side of this operation: to wit, customer service. When I arrived at the counter, ***** could not locate my GotRentalCars.com reservation and provided me with a rental for a reservation I made and cancelled directly with Hertz. ***** then billed both me and GotRentalCars.com. Certainly, a Hertz error, but when I informed **************** of the problem, they placed all the blame on me. A partial refund minus a $50 cancellation fee was given with reminders of how grateful I should be as I was not entitled to a refund. They could have used the same energy to inquire with ***** why my rental reservation was not honored although I appeared at the counter for the rental. Perhaps GotRentalCars.com could have pointed out to Hertz the section/subsection in the whatever contractual agreement they have with ***** as they are quick to do with their customers. Every reply and response from ********************** has been defensive and disgusting with them accepting blame for nothing. 1 starDO NOT USE THESE SHYSTERS! After a simple search on Kayak.com for car rental, I clicked on offering from GotRentalCars for a rental from "Sixt" -- which prominently stated "Free cancellation: Cancel for free 48 hours before pick-up time." -- and I made the reservation, providing my credit card info.Immediately after, I got a notice from my credit card company that I had an 'international charge'-- which raised a concern as there was no mention on the offering of this being an international transaction.That concern prompted an internet search for more information and I found a *raft* of horrible reviews of this company's incompetence, dishonesty and customer-blaming. Consequently, thirty minutes after having made the reservation, I cancelled it -- 48 hours and 20 minutes *prior* to pickup time (i have screenshots/emails to document ) -- with no mention of a *any* charge.However, 4 hours later I get an email from bsp-auto.com (the *actual* company located in *****?) stating they were charging me a $50 "late cancellation" fee.They obviously waited to respond until the 48 hour window had closed.GotRentalCars.com

Dear GRC Customer, your booking was made within 48 hours prior the pick up time. It was booked on Sept 14th at 10:04PM EST for a car rental with pick up on Sept 16th at 10:00PM in *******, **. 1 starThis company is a bait and switch operation, plain and simple. Booked a rental car with them, and at no point during the process did they advise that they don't allow cancellation after the check-in time. Ultimately lost $400 due to some fine print somewhere. Whatever you feel you may be saving by going with them instead of with any of the major agencies, you will ultimately pay in terrible customer service, extreme lack of flexibility and absolutely no desire to do right by the customer. I can't imagine this company has any repeat business, as they're essentially set up to take your money, disappoint you, and then blame you for not reading some fine print somewhere on their poorly designed website. 1 starDo not rent through this company! I prepaid on line to rent a car in **. When I went to pick up the car, the rental company told me that since I'm a local resident, I needed pay extra $1000 deposit, didn't accept debt or credit card and needed to show an utility bill under my name in order to rent from them. None of this was mentioned online when I prepaid. When I asked for a refund from Gotrentalcars.com, they charged me $50 penalty. You've been warned!GotRentalCars.com

"Mileage restrictions may apply to local renters as well as a higher deposit. Renter may be required to provide a round-trip flight ticket/itinerary that matches rental dates.
