1 starMy dad has been writing checks to Kroger for years and they just started being declined and hes had an exceptional check history with his bank and his bank says theres nothing wrong So I have been trying for the last couple days to reach Certegy to verify what is wrong and all I get is a automated system that does nothing to verify what is wrong and no way to talk to an actual customer service representative to fix this issueCertegy Payment Solutions, LLC

Certegy Payment Solutions, LLC (“Certegy”) is a specialty consumer reporting agency that provides subscribing merchants with recommendations for check acceptance at their request. To protect both consumers and retailers against losses from fraudulent or returned checks, in addition to maintaining a file of unpaid returned checks, Certegy has developed an automated system that predicts the likelihood of these outcomes in connection with a particular check. Check authorization is not an extension of credit and does not involve credit scores or accessing credit reports. Since most merchants do not verify whether funds are available prior to cashing a check or accepting one as a form of payment, they may use our system to analyze the transaction for potential risk factors including, but not limited to, location, check writing and cashing history, check number, and amount. Our response provides the merchant with a recommendation as to whether or not the check is likely to be returned. It is then up to the merchant to determine whether they wish to take the risk of accepting the check. This service enables many of our clients to continue to offer check writing and cashing options that might not otherwise be available without protection from exposure to potential losses.

1 starI am writing this in hopes of stopping someone else from getting entangled in this mess. I am a employee of Kroger, a company you see often in these reviews. Before today, I genuinely didn't know what the Certegy errors were - but I am now at the end of one. They've told me and my managers they need all my information - a driver's license number, my social, etc. I refuse to offer it over the phone, opting to check online. There IS a site to check why your check declined, which is how I found this page. It tells me that there's a high risk with my check, which is just a basic payroll check, that I get every week from Kroger, and have for over 3 years now. Tells me it has my information, and thus they can now make this decision every time I want to cash my payroll checks from now until the end of time. Make no mistake, dear reader, this story gets stranger... In order to get this information out of Certegy, I needed to give up my driver's license number. You see, I cannot drive. I also don't have a valid instate ID, and have not had one since before Kroger switched to Certegy. There should be no way they have my driver's license number. But it gets even worse - I have no current bank account. I have never used a check in my life. There should be nothing it's flagging me for besides my prior payroll cashings, which has never gone wrong before. So what's the issue? Kroger, Walmart, etc. have most likely sold your previous information, which is saved (especially with Kroger - we do keep that info.) to Certegy. They now control whether or not you can cash payroll checks, give money to your friends, or pay for food. If you get your check bounced by Certegy, you need to stop shopping at that store immediately and make a report to the FTC.Certegy Payment Solutions, LLC

1 starI went to my Kroger store in ***********. ******** and wrote a check for my groceries. Check was declined. I have been shopping at this store for at least 20 years and writing checks to pay for my groceries. I called this Certegy that was listed on my declined receipt. This company told me that they have several files on me. That has to be a lie or fraud on their part. ***'s Club had no problem with accepting my check today. This company wanted my SS#, my bank routing #, etc. I did give them my driver's license number and then they told me it was invalid. This company needs to be investigated as to their business practices. I will be contacting the *** about this company. There is no rating for a O rating.Certegy Payment Solutions, LLC

1 starThis company is a dangerous joke and no reputable business should be using it. I had a check declined today at a local H-E-B grocery store. I was attempting to complete the state registration for a vehicle which they provide. The catch is that it must be cash or debit card but they do offer check cashing which can then be used to complete the transaction. My check was declined but they cannot provide any explanation or reason. They just give you a little card with Certegy's information. I called but it is useless to even try it. I did some shopping and then paid for the purchases with my bank credit/debit card with no hassle on the same account on which the check was declined. I drove to my bank, made a withdrawal from the same account with no problem and returned to HEB and registered the vehicle with cash. I am not sure how the process works as far if the store puts the check information in manually or if it is done with a check reader . Later I went to the website and entered the information required to find out about the declined check and they had no record of it. This company needs to be shut down. I preferred not to even give one star but it is required.Certegy Payment Solutions, LLC
