This experience has taught me to never get a gym membership. I had this membership for a year and forgot all about it and continued to pay $10/month. It wasn’t until they attempted to take out the annual fee did I notice the account because they over-drafted my account since I didn’t have enough to pay the $39 annual fee. Which meant they didn’t get their $39 and my bank put my account in the negatives; so not only do I have to pay planet fitness, I also had to pay my bank as well. As we all know it’s COVID going on and I recently lost my job and have been having financial issues. I contacted my local planet fitness and all they could say was either pay the $39 or let it go to collections but there was no way to cancel the account without paying the $39. You would think the organization cares about its community but it doesn’t. This applies to all planet fitness’s because they don’t notify you that you can only cancel the account 7 days before the fee is due but not once was I called or emailed to provide me with a reminder of this upcoming fee. I am extremely disappointed with this organization and discourage anyone from joining.
