Against **********, ** I want them to stop mailing me information about life insurance, I do not need and will not purchase life insurance. I called them on 6/25/25 to change my marketing preferences and kept getting transferred to another agent and no one could help me. I want this mail spam to stop.Initial Complaint

AAA very frequently sends, through the *****************, unsolicited mail which promotes life insurance, among other services. I have filed with the **************, back in 2015, the request to not allow junk mail delivery to my address. Each time one of these is mailed to me, containing several pages of my name and address, I am forced to shred this mailing in order to protect my privacy. Today I made the decision that I will no longer continue with AAA because of this. I accessed my account to remove the auto removal feature. I made the proper selection, but then received the notice that I must call their customer service phone number to do this. This imposes and undue burden on the customer and I am sure, in many cases, customers decide to call when convenient, only to forget to do so. And in that case they are then charged for yet another year.Customer Answer

I received an email asking for a response to indicate whether I accept or do not accept the reply by AAA Colorado. After reading the email thoroughly, I did not see any action taken by them, so I declined their resolution. I received another email at or around the same time which indicated a response that they had removed me from their mailing list. This is just one of the desired resolutions I asked for. The other issue revolves around me not being able to remove "auto renewal" from my account online, so that once this membership expires I will not be auto charged for another year and, at that time, my intent will be to cancel my ties with AAA Colorado. While I did make a spelling error in the original complaint, replacing "automatic renewal" with "automatic removal", it should be clear from the context what my intent was. The second part of my desired resolution is to be able to make the change to my auto-renewal preference online, and not to have to call and be placed in a queue to get this done. Nobody has time for that, especially when account information should be easily managed online. In summary, I partially accept their resolution. I accept that they offer to remove my name from their mailing list. I am concerned that there is no other way to do this other than to file a complaint with BBB. I still await, however, the additional fix, that being able to update my auto-renewal preference online. They may update that for me as a response, but this is something that is unacceptable in general practice and they should allow all customers this option.Thank you,***** *******Business Response

Called AAA last year and asked to turn off auto-renew and was told it would be turned off. Just got a letter this year with cards for next year saying auto-renew is turned on. Went to the website and when I try to turn it off, it says I have to call (same as last year). I called in and after a lot of phone prompts it connected me to the Ohio branch who told me they couldn't help me and they would transfer me to Colorado. Colorado claims to have removed my card and turned off auto-pay, but it is still showing my credit card in my online account. The agent I spoke to said she could not send a confirmation and that it would take 72 hours to show up online, but since I was told that before and it didn't get removed/turned off, I asked if there was a way to call back directly if it didn't get turned off and she said no that I would have to go through the Ohio office because my cell phone has that area code. I asked to speak with a supervisor to try to get some sort of confirmation and she said she was the escalation and that I should just trust her. I told her I didn't trust her because *** employees had told me the same thing in the past and not followed through and she got very angry and raised her voice, so I let her know I would file a complaint here. I would like AAA to: 1) Delete all of my credit card data 2) Turn off auto-renew 3) Provide me with a written confirmation (electronic is fine) that they have done 1 & 2 AAA does not provide a contact email on their website, so I am unable to contact them that way.Initial Complaint

*** benefits state that I am eligible for four tows per year at 100 miles per tow. My car has broken down and is in an easily accessible parking lot. They won't uphold their promises benefits and cannot give me any answer why. My membership is current, is a "plus" level and I am requesting a tow of 90 miles to a repair shop. They car has current license and registration, the title is in my name and I physically have it. The repair shop is even a Triple AAA membership, there are plenty of AAA tow trucks available right now. I have more proof that they have no reason not to uphold their end of my membership. My membership isn't even close to expiration, I've been a member for years and never had to use them before. I have logged 10 hours on the phone today, and even more hours through the week. I've never had such terrible and rude customer service. They are operating a fraudulent business based on not upholding promised membership benefits.Business Response

*** member since January 2020, member number *******************. On May 5, 2023, *** roadside service technician actively sold me a *** battery with a 36 month warranty to replace my failed battery, stressing that the *** battery would be replaced for free if it failed within the 36 month warranty period. Peace of mind. On 12/3/2024 battery died. Called *** Roadside Assistance for dead battery. *** technician tested battery and said the battery was dead, and would not take a charge, no problem found with the alternator. *** work order # ********. I was informed that *** would not replace the battery, because there was a ****** recall about batteries. Technician jump started my car. I called ***, after being passed to several different people, I was given explanations full of acronyms that the person clearly did not understand. There are no open recalls on my vehicle (by VIN). I asked several times for a written explanation, and was told their system wouldnt allow them to send a written explanation, then I was told they couldnt send the information because it is proprietary. I was also told I would have to get a subpoena to see the information as to why they would not honor their warranty. I see nothing in their warranty exclusions that would apply. I joined *** because of their reputation, for the peace of mind that they provided trustworthy services to motorists. Clearly this is no longer the case. To add insult to injury, I had purchased this car, used from *** in 2020, and had carried *** auto insurance (until they increased my rate by 50% for no reason). Now they refuse to honor their warranty, and hide behind proprietary information as an explanation. Their customer service and supervisory personnel were confrontational.I would like reimbursement for their battery, and proof that battery was good when sold, including the batterys serial number and date of manufacture, and that it met ****** specification for replacement batteries.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me, contingent on their follow through of sending a check.Per letter from *** **** of AAA, they have determined that my battery was under warranty. They have stated that they will send a check for the cost of the new battery. They have stated that it could take 2 - 3 weeks. In other words, "the check's in the mail".

On Nov 10th2024, AAA towing service was requested to tow my Chevrolet, Colorado *** 2017 vehicle from a parking lot at **************************************************************************************************************. During the towing process, the vehicle was negligently mishandled, resulting in damage to Wheel Bearing, Steering Tie Rod, and Wheel Hub.The grand total damage is $2006.33 as repair costs $1659.72, as documented by Airport Automotive, plus for car rental costs $346.61 Despite multiple attempts to resolve this issue directly with *************** on Nov 19th, they have refused to take responsibility.I am seeking compensation for the repair costs and any additional expenses related to this incident, as their negligence has caused me financial harm under Consumer Protection Act (C.R.S). 6-1-101, 6-1-105, Colorado Revised Statutes (C.R.S.) For the second time, AAA is sending me what reads like a bill, telling me I owe them money. This is despite the fact that I've cancelled my membership and confirmed with them over the phone that my membership was indeed cancelled after the first notice. This is a predatory scheme because the sheet does not acknowledge that my account is not active and that I could chose to reactivate my account by paying. Instead, it said that "there is an amount due." They are making it seem like I have to pay. While they did not specify consequences of not paying, they should have to write that my member account is not active and that I should only pay if I would like to reactivate my account.I confirmed with the company on the phone after receiving this notice that my account was in fact inactive.Business Response

We are sorry about the mailing documents you received. Your membership is cancelled, and you would only have to pay if you did want to become a member again.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:You show no remorse for this predatory tactic. It's very clear that you are trying to make people think they need to pay. No where on that document does it say that my membership is cancelled and that I would only have to pay if I wanted to reactivate it.

I ordered a AAA to my house for a flat tire change. The person came but did not have a 7/8th inch lug nut tool to take off the lugs nuts on my vehicle. I called AAA to get another driver out. After waiting the whole day, as I called at 1:45 pm for the original call, finally at around 9pm I was called let me know no one was coming to help me that day. The next day I was called and told that the company who came out the previous day was the only company they employed in my area. If I did not was them to tow me elsewhere to get my tire changed they could not help me. What did I pay *** for in my membership? So now I am waiting for the tow from the company who did not have the tools to change my tire to tow me somewhere else to get to get my tire changed. I am being told by *** that if there is a cost from the garage, I am bringing it to they may or may not reimburse me for any additional charges. What a joke AAA is.Business Response
