My Mother was a resident of one of the Gardens Care Homes for approximately 4 years, 9 months. She was at the *********************** memory care location on 90th Ave. My Mother passed away on July 29, 2023. I paid the charge for her August rent on July 27, 2023. After my Mother passed, I contacted ************* Homes to get the August payment returned to us, since she had died prior to August 1st. I left a message for the billing **** and received a message back from a woman named ***** on August 2nd. She stated that they required 30 days payment after someone passes because they still have the same expenses. She said that information should be in our contract. We did not have a copy of a contract and my sister and I did not remember signing one. We have one document which indicated that we had paid a $500 refundable deposit for a room for our Mother. I called and left a message for the owner, *****************************, who returned my call. I explained the information to her & that we felt they should return both the $1,385 payment for August and the $500 deposit. She said she would look for a copy of our contract and get back to me. After I didn't hear back I left a couple more messages and finally on 9/19 she texted me asking for my email address. I sent it to her and after not receiving a copy of the contract I texted her again on 9/21 to see if she had sent it. She asked me to resend my email address which I did right away. I've not heard anything from her since, even though I have left her several messages. I did talk one more time with ***** who was going to get back to me with what she found out, but I haven't heard from her. We believe there was no contract signed that said we would owe an additional month after our Mother passed and it appears that they could not find the contract either, since they have not sent it to us. Therefore, we feel Gardens Care Homes owes us the $1,385.00 we paid for August and the $500.00 refundable deposit,
