(TF) in ******, ** for Leer 100XR Topper. 03/26 travelled 450 miles round trip to ******, paid the remaining balance of $2,431.76 purchase price, topper installed. 04/18 notified ***************** leaked. 04/20 notified TF camper had scratched after taking it through touch-less carwash and drying with new chamois. Said topper was not to be washed for 90 days, referred me to Warranty, which says topper can never be taken through commercial carwash because of paint and door not designed to withstand high pressure wash; requires handwash in cool location (not possible at apts or ***************). 06/28 travelled for seal replace, slept in topper. 06/29 returned to TF because I couldnt figure out how to close topper from inside. ***** said not possible. Emergency release handle broke when I tried to close topper. 07/18 emailed TF President **************** no reply. 07/21 called Leer Warranty Mgr. ******************************* who said Leer sold topper to TF so its TFs problem, advised me to modify topper (Owners Manual says modification invalidates warranty), said he would call TF for resolution and call me following day. He did not. When I emailed, he replied he could not reach TF. Pursuant to ***** of the Uniform Commercial Code requires products be fit for particular purpose. Camping is particular purpose for topper. Pursuant to 2-317(c) UCC: "Express warranties displace inconsistent implied warranties other than an implied warranty of fitness for a particular purpose." Topper is not fit for intended purpose: unsafe to sleep w door wide open, unreasonable to not wash for 90 days, all commercial carwashes are high pressure, emergency release handle broke immediately. I want topper replaced with topper that can be closed and locked from inside; partial refund; and compensation for unnecessary travel to fix defects. Leer should have known seal had not been installed properly to begin with, and that topper was otherwise unfit for intended purposes.
