I was awaiting a settlement from a case that was in litigation in the past I have borrowed money from my Attorney pending the outcome of a case i was informed by my current Attorney that I should contact CEA I received a letter from California Employee Advocates about hardships and that I was eligible for a advance due to hardships in the email notification nothing stated that I would be required to relinquish 24% of my settlement money or disclosed any percentage rates would be included upon the application process of the loan advance I received a call from ************************* a Supervisor who processed the loan ********** stated that the money would be taken out of my case settlement when I won the the case and he did not at any moment or time disclosure anything about a percentage fee or percentage rate during our verbal discussion or during the process when he notified to me that he would be sending me some documents to sign before I received the payment I felt very confident and knowledgeable of this transaction but to my surprise I was later informed by my Attorney that I had signed over 24% of my award settlement money by accepting this payment that I was never told verbally or upon signing the documents that I would relinquish a portion on my settlement I understand that loan companies have terms and interest rates regarding a loan but this was never disclosed and was very deceptive on the representative part I would of never agreed to the terms of the advance even though in the enclosed email it stated that I was eligible due to hardship, a hardship advance doesnt require you to sign over a portion of your awarded money and it should of stated in detail the terms of the payment which i feel is deceptive I was advanced $500 dollar my total advance was $2500 i was behind on rent and facing eviction I requested to have a portion of the interest rates deducted and the company is refusing to comply claiming no wrongdoing this is not good business

I was informed there is no charge for services how they are for the people soon after signing the contract and speaking to the attorney they referred me to I find out this advocacy company wants 40% of my settlement which is a extreme amount and ridiculous as I read the review on BBB here they HAVE told someone else 24% all the information is deceiving and not ok and this company is money hungry and not truthful completely fraud. They are getting more of a percentage then the lawyers that are actually doing the work its ridiculous.
