I engaged with Tax Relief Helpers and gained financing for their services on August 15, 2024. The amount I financed was $6000. They were going to help resolve what I thought at the time was going to be a tax problem for myself because I hadn**;t filed my 2022 and 2023 taxes. I was assigned a tax attorney whose name is ***** ******* Mr. ****** was easy to get in touch with and usually returned my phone calls answering any questions I had. After a while he stopped answering my calls and texts which left me *********** taxes were filed for 2023 and I received a refund via a check mailed from the ***. Thinking I was going to have the same result with my 2022 taxes I was sadly mistaken. I submitted and signed my 2022 tax return information in February to a ********* ****** who filed my 2023 taxes. In preparation for my 2022 tax returns I received a couple of phone calls needing clarification on my taxes before filing. Ms. ****** emailed my 2022 returns to me for signature and I returned. I called on several occasions asking if they received them and was informed they had and that they were filed with the *** and that it would take anywhere from 8-10 months because they were filed past the initial deadline of April 15, 2023. I thought that was strange as I was receiving a refund and didn**;t understand why. Per my contract they were to file my 2024 tax returns which I submitted the information prior to March 3 as Ms. ****** requested. Part of my understanding was to make sure my taxes got filed on or before the deadline with the *** to ensure I remain in good standing. Everyone I spoke with told me my taxes for 2022 were filed. It wasn**;t until March that I spoke with a very rude woman who told me I must not have cared about my case because I couldn**;t remember the name of the person I spoke with. In essence she was calling me a liar. She hung up in my face. I called back and spoke to another associate and she told me that they were very busy and I wasn**;t the only customer but they were going to file an extension because they weren**;t going to get to it in time. She further explained that because I didn**;t email it to a particular email they don**;t have a record of receiving it. I emailed the company and the tax preparer who I was dealing with as she was corresponding with me directly, Ms. ******* Out of all the phone calls I made asking about this matter, no one ever said they didn**;t receive the tax return they always told me it was received and it would take anywhere from 8-10 months fir IRS to process.Furthermore, I never received a form 9325 stating that they filed nor one for a supposed extension for 2024 taxes. I went on the *** website just to see if my 2022 taxes had been filed on April 15 and saw that nothing had been filed for 2022 or 2024. I mentioned this to Tax Relief Helpers and they told me that *** is just late updating their site. I asked another tax preparer if they ever heard anything like that and they said never in the 11 years they**;ve been in business. Tax Relief Helpers were some of the most rude and needlessly infuriating groups I**;ve ever dealt with. I wound up filing my 2024 taxes myself. I didn**;t need an extension because the state of Tennessee didn**;t require tax returns for 2024 until November **;24.Another tax preparer did my 2022 taxes and submitted them electronically. I received my refund within a week. I received a phone call from Tax Relief Helpers telling me they filed the 2022 taxes and that they usually take longer to receive because I filed late.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I was contacted by email on June 9 by the ********************** of Tax Relief Helpers. They asked for me to give them a time to discuss and I told them June 10 or June 11 at a specified time. On June 11 at 4:34 pm a ******* ****** called and left a message and I immediately returned the call twice to ******* ****** or ****** to discuss and never got a hold of her. I left several messages on her voicemail as well as ***** for her to give me a call to discuss. I called on June 13 and June 16 and left messages for a return phone call. We finally spoke on June *********************************************************************************************************************************************************** once she researches my case more. I haven't heard back since. There weren't any email correspondences about any resolutions only other than the initial contact from their arbitration department.

Complaint: 23431093
I am rejecting this response because: per my contract with Tax Relief Helpers they did not file resolve the issue nor attempt to resolve issue with my 2021 taxes. They did file my 2023 tax and I have since received a refund. They prepared but never filed my 2022 returns to the ***, I had another service file them after numerous attempts to get a status on the returns. I was consistently told they had been filed and that it would take 8-10 months to receive the refund because they were filled 2 years later than the due date. I was so frustrated that I looked up to see if in fact the return had been filed and nothing had been shown as to that fact on the *** website. At this point I did not trust Tax Relief Helpers was a legitimate business. Why else would they blatantly lie to me that they had in fact and continue to say they filed my taxes when they didnt. When I realized there was no truth to what they were saying I filed my own taxes through another company and received a refund within a weeks time. Regarding my 2024 tax returns, I sent in all my information and I was told an extension was filed. It wasnt until I filed a complaint that I received proof that an extension had indeed been filed. But the irony in this was that I filed my own taxes with HR BLOCK when I saw no evidence of taxes being worked on my behalf. Nothing was ever sent to me to review or sign by Tax Relief Helpers. The only resolution is to stop services at this point and let what Ive paid at this point to be the end of business with them because not only did they not do what they said but I received poor customer services from them. I was insulted by a team member, I had trouble getting timely responses from them and I pay my monthly fee and for what? I reject that they have resolved this issue to my liking. They cannot prove that they aforementioned 2021, 2022 and 2024 were filed or handled by them.
Sincerely,
*** *****Initial Complaint

I hired Tax Relief Helpers (TRH) in April 2024 to prepare and file my 2023 taxes and to negotiate a payment plan with the ***. I paid $2,500 $2,000 for tax preparation and $500 for the *** installment agreement. Over several months, I repeatedly called for updates and was assured they were handling my case. I was told they were working on both my 2023 and 2024 ******** April 2025, due to ongoing delays and lack of communication, I sought help from my daughter, a corporate litigation attorney. After researching the issue and contacting the *** directly, we learned that *** had only submitted a power of attorney and had not filed any tax returns or contacted the *** regarding an installment agreement. Due to this inaction, I incurred penalties and interest for late filing. I was also at risk of missing the 2024 deadline. I then hired a different tax preparer, who filed both my 2023 and 2024 tax returns. I submitted a written demand for a full refund based on the failure to perform the services for which I had paid. In response, the company sent a letter and an invoice listing services that were not performed. The invoice misstated the amount I paid and referred to hourly rates and billing practices I never agreed to. I did not sign a fee agreement, nor was I informed that services would be billed hourly. The companys radio ads, targeting Spanish-speaking consumers, also appear misleading, as they claim tax attorneys will handle *** matters. None of the individuals I interacted with were attorneys, nor did they identify themselves as such. I believe *** is engaging in deceptive business practices, misrepresenting their services, and possibly operating unlawfully in ***** without proper registration. I am requesting a full refund of $2,500, as they failed to perform the services and made misleading representations.Business Response

Please be advised that we have received the complaint submitted by Ms. ****** and regret to learn of their dissatisfaction with our services.
*** and Mrs. ****** engaged our firm to assist with the preparation of their 2023 tax return. As outlined in our agreement, we committed to providing resolution assistance once all outstanding prior-year returns were completed. The ******************************************************** 2024; however, it was never returned to us with the required signatures for filing.
We would like to clarify that we were not retained to prepare their 2024 tax return, nor did we advise them to seek alternative assistance for the 2023 return, as that had already been prepared by our firm.
Upon being informed that the Acostas no longer wished to proceed with our services, and in accordance with the Service Agreement and Company Policies, we issued an invoice for the work performed. Requesting a full refund despite services having been rendered is inconsistent with the terms of the Service Agreement that was reviewed and signed.
We are particularly concerned by the allegation that our firm lacks attorney staff or is engaged in deceptive business practices. These claims are not only inaccurate but also surprising, given our commitment to professional and ethical standards.
That said, client satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us. We are open to reviewing this matter further with our management team in an effort to reach an amicable resolution. We will be reaching out directly to *** and Mrs. ****** to discuss the matter in more detail.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.Initial Complaint

I entered a contract with Tax Relief Helpers on 3/11/24 and gave them power of attorney to file taxes and tax relief. The contract was not honored for services of tax debt relief. *** did file our taxes. The experience has been slow and grueling. TRH do not answer phone calls, they put you on hold and not return. They are rude and arrogant. This has been over a period beginning 3/11/24 to present 5/2025. They have lied continuously and have not provided the debt relief service. They are not honoring the cancellation. They are not speaking on our behalf with their partner **********************************. I received a letter from **** stating that ************************** which is Tax Relief Helpers confirmed services are in progress. This is not correct it has been cancelled.Business Response

On March 18, 2024, My spouse and I signed a contract with *** to dispute my spouses' tax debt. Shortly thereafter, *** requested additional fees, upwards of $1K. We declined as we didn't want to get into a monthly fee with the company, nor did it seem necessary as part of the original contract. Fast forward to a year later, March 2025 and countless unreturned phone calls and emails, we are now receiving demand and levy notices from the ***. They clearly did no work over the course of the year on our case. And our tax debt remains unchanged with more interest. When I look at the fine print of the contract, it says it was good for 365 days. Thus, their contract is done and we are out $4200 dollars. This is absolutely a fraudulent business that does not provide the service contracted for.Business Response

Please be advised that we have received the complaint submitted by ******* ******** regarding Mr. *************** ******* engaged our firm to assist with his *** tax matters. As part of our standard procedure, Power of Attorney forms were properly filed with the **** and the resolution process was initiated. Upon further review of Mr. ******** IRS transcripts, there were discussions concerning additional services that could be provided to address the full scope of his tax issues. Mr. ******* had multiple tax-related concerns, and we maintained ongoing communication to determine the necessary steps for resolution.
We want to emphasize that no fraud has occurred. Mr. ******* has already initiated a dispute through his bank, and the payment he made has been withdrawn from our business account. Prior to this dispute, we did not receive any communication expressing dissatisfaction or requesting a cancellation of services. As such, we were not given an opportunity to address or resolve any concerns, which is a violation of the Cancellation and Refund Policy detailed in the Service ********************* signed.
At this time, we are unable to issue a refund, as the funds have already been reversed from our account. We appreciate your attention to this matter and hope for a prompt resolution.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:Please see our response to each statement from TRH.
Correct and Accurate: As part of our standard procedure, Power of Attorney forms were properly filed with the **** and the resolution process was initiated.
- This is correct and initiated on the day we paid $4200.
Incorrect and Inaccurate: Upon further review of Mr. ******** IRS transcripts, there were discussions concerning additional services that could be provided to address the full scope of his tax issues.- ********** services were offered for a fee, but there were no discussions referencing that these services were required or needed. We were assured that the ONLY reason for these additional services was to expedite the process.
Incorrect and Inaccurate: Mr. ******* had multiple tax-related concerns, and we maintained ongoing communication to determine the necessary steps for resolution.- There were NO ongoing conversations, no emails, no telephone calls from TRH. On multiple attempts, we contacted *** via phone or email. On ALL occasions, we were given NO new information, told that everything was with the legal team and in progress, or had NO response.
Incorrect and Inaccurate: We want to emphasize that no fraud has occurred.- We respectfully disagree. We paid $4200 and did not have our tax issue resolved, nor were we communicated with regarding any reasons why it could not be resolved. No progress occurred over the course of the year, nor were any updates given.
Incorrect and partially accurate: Mr. ******* has already initiated a dispute through his bank, and the payment he made has been withdrawn from our business account.- We have contacted our bank and we have been issued a temporary refund (to avoid additional fees and interest), while the bank researches our claim of fraud and negotiates with TRH. This is not a guarantee that we will be issued a full refund. This is a temporary hold while the bank researches the case.
Incorrect and Inaccurate: Prior to this dispute, we did not receive any communication expressing dissatisfaction or requesting a cancellation of services. As such, we were not given an opportunity to address or resolve any concerns, which is a violation of the Cancellation and Refund Policy detailed in the Service ********************* signed.- We have several emails that were not responded to and multiple phone calls documented with no response. **********ly, for emails that *** responded to, their response was hi goodmorning evrything is moving along great it typically takes 3-6 months but i will have our legal department reach to you promptly (direct quote, with poor grammar and punctuation, and unprofessional) which lead us to believe that our case was progressing forward with no issues. It should be noted that legal never followed up with us and we called and emailed several times.
Unacceptable - At this time, we are unable to issue a refund, as the funds have already been reversed from our account. We appreciate your attention to this matter and hope for a prompt resolution.- We kindly request a refund, since the process/refund with our bank is temporary pending investigation. Once *** has refunded our money, our bank will conclude their fraud investigation case. Until that time, the case is not resolved.
Sincerely,
****** ********Initial Complaint

I contracted Tax Relief Helpers to assist in relieving my tax debt. On April 14, 2025, I signed a contract for approximately $4200.00 dollars. The Representative (Miss *******) facilitated payments of three $1400.00 payments for three months. Soon, after the initial payment, a lawyer for the firm contacted me and informed me the charge had been revised to $6200.00. Tax Relief Helpers emailed me a new contract which I refused to sign. To: Tax Relief Helpers (***) **** *****, Tax Attorney Case# ***** Entered into agreement January 06, 2025. On January 06, 2025, I agreed with Tax Relief Helpers to resolve $174,000 in back taxes from unfiled business taxes or payments. I contacted *** on 03/22/2025 about the levy I received and was kept on hold for 15 minutes and finally directed to client updates and a administrator gave the *** tax solutions of which sounded very sketchy, with *** asking me to pay them $1,409.00 monthly under what they referred to as *** Self compliance program, it was confusing because when I asked, how much is given directly to the **** the admin could not answer and he continued to asked, when can I make a payment, and when I refused, we hung up. The total amount they wanted was $48,000 in total for 5 years.I sent details for personnel settlement received in 2024 for tax year 2024 to be revised. I contacted the *** office again on March 25, and 26 and got to no one and they kept me on hold for 15 minutes and was disconnected and then again, same thing. I will say, I reached out to *** based on an online add and was impressed by their marketing and they seemed honest and sincere. However, the ********* or Company has a high powered sales approach and pushy tactics overwhelmed me and I was not given an opportunity to read details in their agreement in which they have more details, as to *** not finishing or having a resolution for your taxes. February 26, 2024: My spouse Signed a document to retain them as his Attorney. We agreed on a payment plan, which they said they would then represent my spouse. They were adamant about making sure their payments were received. They have been paid the full retainer fee. it has been almost a year later, and they never filed with the courts that they are representing my spouse, and the judgment has now garnished almost $9,000. The garnishments are being taken out are 50% of my income. After the Attorney received his final payment. I have never heard from him again!Business Response

Case: ***** Date of Transaction:January 5th, 2024 Amount paid to business:$3,500.00 Committed to provide:Resolution of tax issues, to include lowering owed amount to *************** of fees / penalties.Nature of dispute:Civil / monetary. Tax Relief Helpers (TRH) has failed to deliver services as promised and fails to maintain ********************** resolution:No. Tax Relief Helpers (TRH) doesn't communicate effectively or consistently to address questions, concerns, or the matters of the case itself in a timely manner or not at all. It is nearly impossible to gather any information or resolve issues regarding the case. I've requested information many times, but we're typically disregarded, or given ambiguous responses with no follow-up.Additional Details:Massive delay in communication and absence of resolution resulted in failure to uphold the contractual terms. This deceptive practice has led to great loss. I retained EVERY communication throughout the entire process, to include all texts, emails, phone logs/numbers, names, dates, etc. The process began January 4th, 2024 at 3:53 P.M. EST where a text was received. The phone call was at 7:30 P.M. EST with Mr. ****** After initial contact, there was an excess of misleading direction, or lack thereof. Scheduled for January 8th, 2024, we were advised that the 'accountant' (Ms. ****** would be in touch to handle our personal financial details. UNBELIEVABLY, less than two weeks later, she responded with a text stating, "They just let me go please contact Ms. ***** for any further assistance with your case." At this point, it was apparent that the company was dysfunctional or a scam. Eventually, after being handed off to two new people, I ended with Ms. ****** As of today, either nothing has been filed or at the least, communicated to us any resolution. Disgustingly, they even have FAKE reviews being plastered online, reporting negative ones to get them deleted. Luckily, I have screenshots of EVERYTHING.Business Response

We acknowledge receipt of Xander's complaint and have proactively reached out to Xander directly in order to address the concerns. Upon reviewing the situation, we believe there may be some misunderstanding, as we had previously communicated with Xander regarding the case a few weeks ago. At that time, no concerns of this nature were raised.
We are currently working to clarify Xander's request, as the desired resolution provided"Refund; Finish the job; Contact by the business"appears to be somewhat contradictory. We take our clients' satisfaction and concerns very seriously, and we are committed to resolving this matter promptly and to Xander's satisfaction.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.Customer Answer

Tax Relief Helpers told me they would charge $4500 and put me on a payment plan to resolve my tax debt. The actual amount financed was over $5000. I called several times attempting to cancel their services and they kept assuring me they were already working on my case. I've paid 3 installments in order to not be delinquent. At first they said they would have answers for me about my case in a matter of weeks. Then they told me it could take up to 6 months, which is past the point of the no interest charge for the financing. I just received a certified letter from the *** that my account is going into collections. I want to cancel their service, the loan and deal with my tax debt myself. The amount I owe the *** is not much more than what they are charging me. I see others have been quoted far less for their services and I feel they are practicing unfairly and not holding up their commitment.
