On Sunday, February 19th, 2023, ****************, Senior Project Manager arrived at my home to discuss having my driveway resurfaced. **************** arrived alone at 2:00 pm, I met him outside, and he asked to enter my home, I told him that I don't allow strangers to enter my home and that I don't trust COVID-19 Virus. I haven't caught it and I don't want to catch it because I noticed that he had a cold. He didn't have a mask on, I had on a N-95 Mask and gloves the entire time. He told me that he talks a lot to so many people daily and his voice is like that. Nevertheless, I didn't accept his excuse, I didn't invite him into my home, instead, I brought a chair and a tray for him to write on. Once he was settled, **** told me that he would give me a very, very reasonable price to resurface my driveway, but first, he needed to see if I qualified for this program so that I will not have to pay for 1 year and I will not have to give him a dime today because we don't need your money. I asked him the name of the program, and he never told me. **** said, "Well, there are 3 programs that I will need to see if you qualify for, plus you are a senior and you do own your home, right? I told him yes. I filled out the paperwork, and he would avoid all my questions and comments because his entire focus was on getting me qualified, he called a few of his resources. **** was so happy, he said by the ***** of God you qualified to have your driveway resurfaced. **** said, "I am going to throw in the garage door free, so please hold on." I wasn't allowed to speak to the person on the other line, nor could I hear the other person talking to ****. I was suspicious of that. I asked him, why didn't I speak directly to the loan officer, because I am the one applying for the loan, not you. **** ignored me and continued filling out the paperwork, then he put his hand on top of the paperwork so that I could not see the title of the documents that he was filling out. **** is very pushy, and he is a manipulator, con artist and the top salesman within his organization is what I assumed because he told me that he has hundreds of clients daily. I told him before we went any further how much will this costs me to have my driveway resurfaced, and he told me don't worry, I told you that I will give you a special price because you are a special customer, you own your home, and you are a senior. He never showed me the price until the very end of the conversation, he said I will need a few documents because the company is calling me, so I must answer to get you qualified. So, I got up to go inside to obtain the document that he asked me for. As I was leaving, he said sign here and sign here so that I can make sure that you qualify. He kept his hand on the face of the document, so I couldn't read it without my glasses. I told him that I don't have my glasses, and I can't read the application, so he said that is okay. I will give you an exceptionally fair price, no worries. He had a yellow 8 1/2 x 11 notepad that had his speech on it to remind him what to say, then I told him that this is not going to work for me not unless I know how much this project is going to cost, then he said what else do you need to be done to your house, like painting, inside and outside, new doors, new windows, new floors, you name it, I can add it onto this project and you will not have to pay a dime today. I told him no way I was going to sign for something blindly and I didn't know the price. He said may I have some water, I said yes, but you wait outside, and I will bring you a glass of water. Once I returned, I told him it was getting colder and it was after 5:00 pm and I hadn't eaten, and I could not locate my glasses. Why don't we continue with this over the phone, he said no wait you qualified for the program, I just got the text. I said how much I qualified for, he said they will give me a call and send me a welcome letter to his email address. Then I asked him again, listen to me if you don't tell me the price of the project and how much I have qualified for then this is no deal, you need to cancel this project now and cancel the loan amount as well, I don't want to move forward with this project, I have to call other companies and compare them to your deal. Then, **** said, "Hold on I have the price of resurfacing the driveway, and I like you so much. You are an incredibly beautiful lady, look at your skin, it is flawless, and your hair is beautiful. I would like to take you out to dinner, I told him not at this time and no thank you. He said why don't you let me date you, and keep you warm in the wintertime, we are both about the same age. I told him, I said listen to me, I am not interested is this your reason for coming to my home to date me? This is not what I want, and this is not what I am meeting you for today. If you don't provide the prices to me then you can leave my property at this time. He said are you serious, I said yes, then he thumbed through the yellow tablet and said, I have the price the price is $13,000 to resurface the driveway and ***** to install the garage door. But since you are a senior I will change the price, I will not charge you for the garage door, I will only charge you for resurfacing the driveway and I will throw the door in as a bonus because you are a beautiful lady. I said that there is no way that I am going to agree to pay you or not to resurface my driveway for $13,000. I am not going to take this deal, he said no worries, I will change the price. He said hold on let me call my boss to ask him for a better price, then he said he didn't answer but I will be able to change the price and make it reasonable for you. I told him that it is getting late and colder, I have to say good night. I told him that at this time I don't want to move forward with the project due to the high price and I don't know how much I have qualified for, or which company I have qualified with for the loan. I need to know the terms of the loan and I haven't received anything from the loan officer to my email address nor are you able to tell me what I qualified for. I am not allowing you to resurface my driveway at the price that you just wrote on the paper after I signed the documents, you should have written the price on the document before I signed it not after the fact. I told him that was illegal and that you are very slick, and I am not feeling this deal, not at all. I told him that I don't want to move forward with this deal, not unless it is rewritten, and I have my glasses on so that I can read the fine print and the back of the documents that you have provided to me. He told me that he was going to give me a senior discount, no worries, this is not the price that I will have to pay. Then he said I will give you a call in the morning to discuss the new price. The next morning, which was February 20th, 2023, at about 8:00 am, I heard some voices outside of my home, I was upstairs getting dressed, and when I came outside **** said, I need to see how to think your concrete is before the guys get started. I told **** no way am I giving you permission to start this project because of the price that hasn't been discussed, no worries I will have my boss give you a call to take care of that. I said, "Well what about the loan amount? How much I qualify for and from which company I received the loan must be discussed before I allow you to move forward with this project. I told **** that I was busy, I had several phone calls to make, and I would be leaving my home shortly. **** said okay, **** showed up at my home without me inviting him with a few guys that didn't have any equipment to meet ****. When I left them, I went back into the house to take care of my phone calls and computer work, I thought that they had left. **** rang the doorbell and said may I see the garage door in the backyard, I said sure, he went in the backyard, and I sent it with him. He said OKAY this is a small door, and I will not charge you a dime for the door, I will give you a brand-new door with two locks and it will be weatherized with a pull chain or rope, you will not have to pay anything for one year. I told ****, I don't want you to give me anything free, if I have qualified for the resurfacing of the driveway then I may have qualified for the garage door. **** said why don't you go back inside your home to check your emails to make sure that you have received the welcome letter from the loan company. I told ****, "I am sorry, I don't know the name of the company that is making the loan, then **** said it is the **** Program. I told him that I don't know anything about the **** Program, I will look that up on my computer. I am not allowing you to do the work unless I know for sure that you have changed the price, and I am really qualified to move forward with this project. He said ok, you do that, and I will give my boss a call to find out what is going on. **** said you did qualify yesterday, February 19th, and today is February 20th, 2023. That means that we can start the job and I told him NO, not until I research this **** Program online. I went into the house to take care of my personal phone calls and other business at hand. I came back outside; **** was gone, the driveway was torn up and there was a man on a truck with an attachment on it breaking up the driveway. **** called me to tell me that you have qualified for the loan, and I had to start the project so that we can get paid, I must purchase the supplies to complete your driveway. I told **** that I didn't want you to start the project without me finding out if I really qualified for the loan, no one called me from ****, and you haven't given me an update on the price. Because I am not going to pay you $13,000 for a driveway that I didn't give you permission to destroy and I am unhappy with everything, you have lied to me. How can you rest at night knowing that you have forced a person to go and allow you to cause them to lose their house? I am not paying you $13,000 and I told you that on day one, day two, and day 3 and it is now February 28th, 2023, and I am still saying no. **** had **** come to my home to see how everything was going and I told him that **** is pushy, and he had taken advantage of me by breaking up my driveway without my permission. Then **** told ****, I told her that I was going to give her a brand-new aluminum garage door to match the other two doors in her garage. I told **** this is wrong, and you guys must make this right. We had a discussion, but we produced no conclusions. I have scheduled a few meetings, but it has been raining, snowing, and windy, plus the weather hasn't been warm enough for us to have a meeting. I haven't heard from **** or ****. I haven't received a welcome letter from the loan company, I don't know how much I qualified for, I never got the garage door, and my driveway is destroyed. **** didn't leave any type of barrier in front of my garage to warn people not to slip and fall. I had to put some orange cones out front to allow pedestrians to be careful and cautious. Today I haven't heard from the loan companies, ****, or ****. I met with ****, and he tried to encourage me to add more items to have done such as he will purchase the rocks and he would lay green turf in my front yard and remove the grass, putting lights, and rocks, and remove the rose bushes and plants if I don't want them. I told him No, why would I want to add more items, he said because we can push the bill up to $38,000 instead of the $13,000, we can paint the inside and outside, and install brand new windows. I told him No thank you, I don't want anything I want my driveway replaced because all I wanted was to have my driveway resurfaced. I didn't give him permission to start, plus I canceled on Feb. 19 through 28th, 2023. I don't want them to place a Mechanical Lein my home that is what I am trying to prevent because I don't know what the reasonable price is to replace my driveway. I have gotten other estimates, I will have to hope and pray that **** and **** understand that you cannot come into our neighborhood and do such horrible things to innocent people that you don't know. I am a senior, I didn't deserve the treatment that I have received from these guys and their company should be closed permanently because they are not reaching out to homeowners with good intentions. They are out for themselves and it's about them taking advantage of seniors and the poor people that don't understand the con games that they are running on us. **** Program from what I have read is a legitimate company, and they do have programs to help homeowners to repair their windows, doors, weatherization; etc. I did call them, and they weren't able to locate my name in their system. I had to ask **** not to stop by my home whenever he gets ready and I also told him that I am not interested in dating him to clear that matter up because he is extremely pushy and headstrong, he wants what he wants, and he gets what he wants. That's so unfair to people like me because I don't know him or his team or his company Build for You Remodeling. *************** like a Scam. I didn't receive a cancellation form, no matter how often I told him No, I asked for the form, and he never gave me one, he also didn't give me a document showing that I gave him permission to start the work, when I told him No, I needed to find out how much I qualified for, which company would be sending me the welcome letter, has **** changed the price of the resurfacing of the driveway for a lessor price. I want **** to understand what he has done to me is wrong and that he should lose his license to do business in the *******************. All, I want at this time is for **** and his team to replace my driveway, replace my rocks, repair my sprinklers, repair my side yard that they have destroyed, and not charge me a dime for destroying my driveway, they have pulled up the paper underneath my desert scenery, they have removed my lights, they have removed my yard signs, they have not purchased any supplies to replace my driveway, they have the wrong rebars, etc. I have gotten other estimates for my driveway because I don't trust that they will replace the driveway properly. The two young ******* men that were helping them told me that they are only going to put the rebar eighteen inches apart and they have six of the wrong rebar. I told them that this is not working out and they can leave on days 2 and 3. Feb. 20th, 21st, and 23rd, 2023. The contract was canceled on Feb. 19th and 20th, 21, and 23, 2023. I said all along that I didn't want **** to get started on Feb. 19th, 20th, 21, and 22nd day up to the twenty-eight of Feb., but now we are on March 12th, 2023. I refuse to have them on my property, I would like to have a new team that is professional and knows what they are doing. These people showed me the opposite. Although it has been cold, windy, raining constantly day and night, and snowing day and night. The weather hasn't calmed down. I have tried to remember everything because it is important that I tell the truth to you because this is what really happened to me, I am disgusted. I no longer trust **** or **** from Build for You Remodeling. I no longer want them to enter my property, call me or meet with me without an attorney present. I don't want them to place a Mechanical Lein on my home because I canceled three days in advance, and I didn't receive the respect, I was ignored, nor was I presented with the proper cancellation documents. They were verbally informed starting on February 19th, through February 28th, 2023, daily. I would rather hire a legitimate concrete company that knows what they are doing than allow **** to have his team install my driveway. I don't want to be harassed by anyone from **** and ****'s team of people. I never received the documents from **** and I didn't sign any loan documents from any of the three finance companies that **** called. My home has been defaced and I cannot put my car inside the garage because the driveway has been removed. Furthermore, I am a senior and I want to be left alone, I don't have money that I can randomly give to anyone that knocks on my front door, I don't have it like that. I am not a wealthy woman. I don't owe them any money because I didn't ask them to remove my driveway, I told him No. I am sorry for ****'s loss of his wife. I would like to send the documents, but I couldn't open them in upload: *******************************************Business Response

On 9/20/22 I was contacted asking if I was interested in available home improvement programs/discounts through a home energy improvement program. I mentioned interest in artificial turf. The caller put me on with ******** and we set up an appointment for 5:15pm that same day to have people come out to do a consultation. ************* came out, explained the way the payment works is through the home energy program and that is how we are able to get low monthly payments. They explained not everyone qualifies for these "programs" and were "surprised" when we qualified w/ an interest rate of 7.9. They then gave us extremely high quotes based on different design ideas. We explained these prices were too high, they continued changing things to lower the price. They finally got the total price down to 22,800 explaining that included home energy discounts and monthly payments of approx $200. Aria also stated she would be getting commercial grade turf from as well as pavers that were left over from previous projects so we would be getting an extra discount. We assumed this also included the 7.9 APR as this was supposedly all through a home energy program. After all this we asked if we could have the night to think about it, they said that if we wanted the products from these previous jobs we would have to decide tonight to avoid them sending the products back. At this point they had been in my house for nearly 3 hours, with a fussy baby on my hip I agreed. They had me sign a waiver to begin work next day. Aria's project mgr Francisco came out and told me I would receive a welcome letter from the home energy program and to not tell them project already started. After getting loan docs from a sketchy finance company (that showed a total price of $39,000) and not a home energy program, I asked Aria for look at warranty, specific type of turf and pavers used, list of home energy discounts and list of sub-contractors that were at my home which she has refused.Customer Answer

After speaking with Build for You Remodeling's customer service rep via email, she finally provided a manufacturer warranty and turf specifications. However the turf we received is valued at approx $2.50 per square foot not the "commercial grade" turf we were promised by the salesperson. Charging us $22,800 for turf that costs about $3,000 is ********. They have also threatened me with an intent to file a mechanics lien. They have also refused to provide a list of sub contractors that were at my property performing the job.

The business has sent a letter stating they have filed a mechanics lien on my property despite repeatedly telling them I would like the product removed as it is not what was promised from the beginning. The charges are for a much higher priced turf that was not installed. I've stated I am willing to do mediation yet they are trying to have me choose from mediators that they have ties with. I would like mediation to be done with the BBB if possible.Customer Answer

Build for You has now gone to a debt collector despite not responding to my request to go through mediation through BBB as it states on their own contract.
