A few weeks ago, my companys ZipRecruiter account was locked after our corporate card hit its limitsomething I wasnt immediately aware of. While the account was inaccessible, neither I nor my team could log in or manage job postings. We received no communication from ZipRecruiter that the account had been reinstated, nor were we made aware that postings remained live and were still incurring ********** a result, inactive roles stayed public, racking up significant charges without our knowledge. Had we known the account was live, we would have promptly closed most of those postings. But being locked out made that impossible.I discovered todaywhile preparing for a meeting with a ZipRecruiter Sales *** that I had been working with in regards to reinstating and upgrading my accountthat the account had been reactivated at some point. I checked my inbox and found no reinstatement notice. While I acknowledge I could have missed it and I did thoroughly review my inbox/spam/junk to no avail, based on the type of notifications I usually receive (like job closure confirmations), I would have expected clear notice about something as critical as this. The charges are significant, but Im only seeking a refund for July. I was told by Sales Support that theres no resolution available.I believe this is a questionable business practice. My company was charged for services we couldnt access, and candidates applied to roles we didnt even know were livedamaging our employer ******** submitting this complaint in hopes of a fair review and resolution, and to highlight what I see as a non-transparent and unethical handling of customer accounts.

I began using Zip Recruiter on May 20, 2025 as I was hiring new staff for my company. I requested that they close my account. Unfortunately, when one attempts to close the account they require that you call in . However, they don't pick up the phone. They continue to charge my card although I have sent them numerous messages to close the account. As well, I am unable to retrieve a copy of the sent messages as they do not forward the customer the sent communication. This is very frustrating and I feel ripped off.

W e placed a trial offer add with Zip Recruiter on ************, ********** and we canceled the add the following day. We were unhappy with the resumes we received from their referrals, they were wrong names to the persons who answered the phone, or no experience as we expressed in our add, or just the wrong person who would answer the phone. So we called their office and canceled the add the next day. Once we got our **************** statement we saw charges for $540.00 for marketing charges, and $240 for advertising costs. We never signed an agreement for any of this, or had no knowledge of any of that stuff. So I feel this was just a tactic to get money out of us, since they had our credit card information. I never saw any type of advertising adds with our name on it, they just lied to make money.

      Hello ********,

Thank you for contacting ZipRecruiter via the Better Business Bureau.  Were here to help in any way we can.

When signing up for job posting services, all users must agree to their chosen subscription plan and our Terms of Use.  You signed up for our usage pricing plan, which means you only incur charges when your job is active.  You may close your job at any time to stop billing.  If your job remains active and reaches the $500 threshold, you will be billed.  This information is provided to you during the registration process, and it is also listed in your account to review at any time.  We also offer dedicated 24/7 support from our ************* team.  Were here to assist with your account, questions, or concerns at any time.

Your Medical Assistant position was posted on the ZipRecruiter website, along with over 100 partner sites, from February 28, 2025, to April 1, 2025.  You also received over 100 candidates during that time frame.
Unfortunately, we are unable to assist with any potential credits or refunds, as it appears the charges have been disputed by the bank.  Please follow up with your financial institution for further assistance or the results.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we hope this information further clarifies.

We wish you all the best with your future hiring endeavors!

I am rejecting this response because:  iI SIGNED UP AS A TRIAL OFFER, i DID NOT HAVE THIS ADD GOING FOR ONE MONTH, i called the Monday and canceled this add, because most of the resumes were dead candidates, meaning phone numbers were disconnected, or not who they said they were. So I was completely dissatisfied with them. I did not sign any contract when I signed up for this trial offer, only that I could cancel in three days for no charge. I did not get 100 resumes either, that's a lie. This is just a rip off just for you to charge the employer a enormous fee for nothing, what type of marketing did you do for us? none at all, this all hype and lies. We want our money back, or we plan to sue to your company for false advertisement.  We can settle this here or we can go to court.

I was promised by ZipRecruiter that their premium service would deliver a large pool of pre-screened, qualified candidates. That was the only reason I paid for it. Instead, in the first week, I received only four candidatesnone of whom met even the basic requirement of having prior experience, which was clearly stated in the job ad.When I called to address the issue, their team backpedaled and told me I was supposed to call the applicants to check their qualificationsdespite their earlier assurance that pre-screening was included. I did call every candidate, and all of them admitted they had no experience at all.I tried to cancel the ad immediately, but customer service was incredibly rude and dismissive. They simply said, It is what it is, and refused to issue a refund.Absolutely terrible experience. I strongly recommend avoiding ZipRecruiter and using Indeed or another platform that actually delivers on what they advertise.

I am rejecting this response because:

The only reason I chose ZipRecruiter was because one of your associates assured me that you would pre-screen candidates and provide only qualified applicants with relevant experience. After just a couple of days, I realized that was not the case not a single candidate was qualified or experienced. I contacted several of them directly: two never responded, and the other two clearly stated they had zero experience.
At that point, it became obvious that ZipRecruiter either cannot deliver on its promises or this is outright misleading advertising. I contacted your team immediately to cancel my subscription and request a refund, but your representatives were completely uncooperative.

I found a job posting on ZipRecruiter. After applying to the job, I came across a reddit post talking about the same company "*****************" with many, many people responding and saying they were scammed by this company. The original poster along with quit a few others said they have reported this ad and other similar ads to ZipRecruiter, yet the site allows this same company to keep putting up new ads in location all across the ***. They sent me an email asking me to explain why the Ad was a fake. I provided the information and requested that my account needs to be deleted, because they have an on going issue they are refusing to fix and cannot be trusted with my personal data. I have yet to hear anything on the scam ads and am now getting a lot of spam texts that started the day after submitting my job app and resume. Now a phone number that's been pretty quiet for almost 20 years is ruined! Then to top it off my request to delete my account is ignored and ZipRecruiter added me to their Spam list and have started sending me tips and bothering me to update my account/resume. I don't understand how this is even legal and I want my information removed and to stop being bothered. Yet they ignore my requests and bother me.

We paid a lot of money for this service, looking through resumes, etc. Upon posting our job, complete with "required" experience, we received applicants for the posted position that had no legal experience whatsoever. Furthermore, we invited several people that had their resume posted to apply for the job, and there was not one response. This was a total waste of money. The advertisement is misleading, and the gates they say you can put in to weed out unwanted candidates, is a farce.

Lets just say im never going to use Zip Recruiter ever again in my life as a business owner. I emailed to cancel my subscription because during the trial. There wasnt any feed that specifically what Im needing for all the applicants apply for the job mostly and not qualify maybe one or two in the field thats related to what I am looking for, but she said that I should call the 24 hour phone line to cancel instead of an email. They dont refund $524 or something so they basically steal my money. Never use zip Recruiter again

Between 3/28/25 - 04/29/2025 I was charged $1729.98 for a job posting.I made the mistake of thinking that I put a stop date on the paid advertisement and was under the impression my account was on a "free" setting. My biggest mistake.I was not using the platform after 04/04/2025.I noticed a charge on my account and then saw that almost the entire month I was paying $35 a day for a job posting that was getting less than 5 applicants a week. As a new business, I panicked and called zip recruiter thinking "they're zip recruiter, they will understand I didn't realize i was paying since i was NOT reviewing or contacting the applicants. I will just be honest and tell them I made a mistake."WRONG As someone who never asks for a refund I was embarrassed to ask but I came clean and told them what I just wrote. I didnt realize I was still paying and havent used the platform, I apologize.I was then met with no empathy and a cold professional over the phone. He explained I was using the platform and reviewing the candidates as he could see on his end. They would not issue any refund.I was shocked. I thought that a company that is geared towards small business would understand that me as a one man band company forgot that he was being charged.I must be their perfect clientele.I was issued $112.82 out of $1,842.80. They also added a $564.12 credit to my account. YAY?My biggest mistake was putting in my card info in good faith that this company would take care of me. I have never filed a complaint with the BBB and never thought I would. Here I am, beyond disappointed in this company.

I am filing this complaint against ZipRecruiter due to deceptive and predatory billing practices tied to their job posting service. When posting a job, ZipRecruiter charges users per calendar day, not per 24-hour cycle. However, this critical fact is buried and not clearly disclosed during the signup or posting process. The company fails to provide transparent, upfront billing disclosures, misleading customers into believing charges are based on a 24-hour timeline similar to their free trial structure.Even worse, ZipRecruiter charges customers according to a specific time zone that may differ from the user's local time zone. This manipulation means customers can easily and unknowingly be charged for an additional calendar day a practice that appears designed to maximize charges through confusion, not fair dealing.During the free trial, ZipRecruiter operated on a clear 24-hour basis, giving customers a reasonable expectation that billing was tied to elapsed time. After the free trial, they switch to a vague "calendar day" billing tied to an undisclosed time zone, a clear bait-and-switch tactic meant to increase the likelihood of unintentional paid charges. This intentional lack of transparency and deliberate confusion around time zones and billing periods constitute unfair and deceptive business practices. It appears designed to mislead customers and extract fees they would not have knowingly agreed to under fully transparent conditions.Requested Resolution:I am requesting a full refund of all charges arising from these deceptive billing practices.I am requesting that ZipRecruiter be required to clearly disclose its billing structure, including the per-calendar-day charges and time zone application, before allowing a customer to post a job.I further request that the Better Business Bureau investigate whether ZipRecruiter's practices violate standards of fair and honest business conduct, as these tactics risk misleading a broad range of consumers.

When signing up for job-posting services, all users must agree to our Terms of Use as well as their chosen subscription plan.  For our usage plan, you incur charges per day, per job, for as long as the positions are active.  These billing terms are provided to you upon registration, and theyre always listed within your account.  You do have the ability to open/close jobs to control the billing at any time.

It appears your Contract Automotive Key Fob Technician jobs in both *******, ** and **************, **, were posted on the ZipRecruiter website along with an additional 100+ job board partner websites from 4/23/2025 until 4/26/2025.  The invoice you received on 4/27/2025 was for that time frame.
