    they hide behind some fake refund policy where they don't give a copy to anyone and then when you withdraw, they just do whatever they want because they hide behind this nonsense. it's such a shady way to do business. they just say you can ask for the policy any time you want after you've already tried to get the money you deserve back. the only paperwork they give to parents during registration says "Should it be necessary for your child to withdraw, 30 days written notice is required and you will be responsible for a percentage of the tuition based on
    our refund schedule. There will be no refund from the yearly tuition for withdrawal after May 1st. Refunds require 6 - 8 weeks to be processed.
    Enrollment in each class is limited and expenses for the school continues regardless of attendance. No deductions, credits or refunds can be made for absences, vacations, or holidays. If a long absence is anticipated, please contact the school. Supplemental activity fees may be assigned during the year to help cover the costs of special events. A $25.00 service charge will be added to accounts with each returned check. The Registration, Enrollment, and Book/Materials/Technology fees are non-refundable."

    Our tuition is based on the rates for the entirety of the school year, not the number of weeks or months. If a family needs to withdraw from our program during the year, we have a standard policy to determine the amount due for the services rendered.

    We tried very hard to work with this family, but they continuously declined our attempts to set up a meeting and discuss the student's withdraw. When she received the refund check, she did not agree with our policy.

    We stand by our policy, as it is fair and reflective of the services of the program the student and family received.

    #1 I didn't repeatedly decline meetings to discuss my student's withdrawal. I postponed the meeting once and only because the school administration displayed poor judgement in an incident which ended up involving law enforcement and the court system so it was not in my best interest to have a conversation while there was an open court case with the people who called the police and caused a court case to open. We were told by the court that we weren't even allowed to go back to the school for a month until the court consider the case so I could argue it was the school's fault that my student had to withdraw because missing a month of school is not acceptable so I had to find another school asap.

    #2 the issue at hand is that the policy is not stated anywhere. The only thing that I signed never clarified the specifics of a refund policy other than it's a 30 day notice period and the wording around the refund being a "percentage based on our refund schedule" implies proration based on the amount I paid which is nothing like what is being claimed by the school.
