I accidentally closed a petition that had gained momentum. I didn't realize that there was no option to reopen it. I have been contacted by a member of the ************* and they are covering this story as early as next week. With that coverage, this petition may very well hit ******* signatures with many influential supporters contributing to the promotion of this petition. Please restore the petition so that we can get justice and lead to necessary policy change. I spent several sleepness nights working on this petition and gathering support. I paid for a 1 time contribution for a petition then months later I notice they continued taking that amount out of my account unauthorized for months! I never made an account or membership or signed up for subscription. I have 0 email record from them saying THANKS FOR JOINING or WE RECEIVED PAYMENT or ANYTHING to that regard AT ALL! The only way to fix is through an account which I never signed up for. There is no number to call and GMail doesnt even recognize the customer support email as valid. Looks like it was also done through my Apple Pay somehow but I know for a FACT I never signed up for this.This is so SAD. That makes zero sense and I filed this complaint because I came here and saw that many have the same exact issue as me with you all! If I had an account you should be able to search me by name not by my financial information. This just further proves to me how much of a scam this is.
shame on you! I want my money back and for yall to stop digging in places youre not allowed.

Change.org no longer responds to customer's requests filed via the online contact form and via email. In response to a Change.org petition promotional email sent to me on 12/19/22, I paid $40 on 12/19/22. Within 2 hours of paying the $40, Change.org claimed that my petition was viewed to ***** people within two hours but yielded no signatures. 1K views in two hours is not possible, and I figured it was a computer glitch or my donation was mistakenly applied to another petition. Prior promotions for $25 or less and even a free promotion were ran over several hours and days. Yet, a $40 donation has ***** views in two hours and a total of ***** views in 19 hours. It does not even seem believable, and I am seeking some answers. The problem is that Change.org has stopped responding to requests for clarification. Though I am still awaiting explanation from Change.org regarding the $40 paid on 12/19/22, they sent me another email on 12/20/22 asking for a donation to promote my petition. Prior to these emails, Change.org auto deducted $8 from my Paypal account though I cancelled auto deductions to Paypal several weeks ago. When Change.org did not respond to the request to reverse the $8 charge and to stop overriding auto deduction opt-outs, Change.org never responded. Therefore, I deactivated Change.org as a payee to prevent this from occurring again. I am hoping to be able to move this petition off the Change.org platform by May 2023 because I believe there are other options with more responsive staff. Until then, I no longer wish to receive emails from Change.org soliciting more donations. There is no separate option to opt out of donation seeking emails without opting out of all emails. I also need confirmation that Change.org is never going to auto charge my credit card. Until I can move the petition to another site, I don't want to be solicited for more money.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because nothing was resolved. Im hoping for an amicable resolution as Change.org still hosts my petition until Im able move it to another site after I complete my due diligence. I dont want to make the same mistake. My petition deals with a very critical matter, and I dont want supporters to donate monies that are not going toward its promotion. I also would not want anyone who supports my petition to have to file a BBB because Change.org is auto deducting funds from them. It hurts my cause and erodes confidence in what Im trying to do. I clearly understand that promotions do not guarantee signatures, but I still highly doubt that it was seen by ***** people in 2 hours and ***** people in 19 hours. I can only go by previous promotional performances, so I know the money was not used for my promotion. Statistically, it appears impossible. However, it is futile to argue that point because Change.org does not produce tangible proof. Going forward, I must focus on resolution and prevention. Until I hear from the person who is managing the response and the time-frame to receive a response from Change.org, I have to reject Change.orgs response to BBB because nothing was resolved. Change.org provided a generic response in line with all other responses when it comes donated monies. I also need confirmation that Change.org will never auto deduct from my credit card. Though people who donate to Change.org select No to auto deductions, Change.org somehow continues to automatically deduct. I'm not sure how the ******************* has allowed this to happen for so many years. Ive removed Change.org from Paypal, so no worries there. Change.org is no longer responding to requests filled out through the contact form on the website. Though petition starters and those who donate can submit requests through the Change.org portal, employees at Change.org do not respond. Therefore, I must wait for a response on this issue. While I want Change.org to never send me an email soliciting donations to promote my petition, I cant select that option without jeopardizing all other communication regarding my petition. I am here to work with you towards an agreeable resolution. As I mentioned, I spoke with our engineers who confirm that we did fulfill the promotion. It can happen that quickly for a number of reasons - if your promotion was sent out in a big update email with a lot of signers, or is sent with a wide action alert email. Even having a particularly heavy us of our site during a short time would result in the promotions going out as quickly as they did in this case!
I can also confirm that, based on the information you've provided, you will not be charged going forward - you are not signed up for a monthly membership.
You mention as well that we are not responding to you when you submit a question through our website - it looks like you are waiting on a reply from us, and it was escalated to our team leaders. I have confirmed that we should be getting back to you on that shortly. Please be patient.

I am rejecting this response because there is no proposed resolution, so I will present three. I, too, remain hopeful for an amicable solution. I thank you for confirming that I will not be automatically charged in the future. Had I known ahead of time about the promotion parameters that you just explained, I would not have invested $40 into the promotion campaign. Given such and because I have to focus on the momentum occurring outside of this petition, here is what I am proposing:(1) Keep the entire $40 and re-run the promotion;
(2) Keep $25 to run the $25-level promotion and refund $15 to me; or
(3) Refund the entire entire $40 to me
I know that I am fighting for a very important cause, and I know many people in your database feel the same way giving the amount of signatures collected through the two prior campaigns. Additionally, in just four days, over ***** people clicked the link shared within my recent petition update and at other sites to read my letter. I have no doubt that ***** people will have read that letter by month's end. So, I have to focus more attention on strategies outside of this petition while still needing more signatures. In doing so, I can progress to the point where I can transition the petition from Change.org in early 2023. I would like not to keep going back and forth through the BBB and am hopeful that Change.org would accept one of the three options so that this complaint could be closed.

There is an organization registered in ********** called Change.Org **************. I made a one-time donation of $30.00 for a cause I was passionate about and 2 years later I realized they have been charging my credit card $30.00 every month. I'm told my CC company can only look back 2 years. I rarely use this particular credit card and (my bad)don't monitor it as often as the ones I use daily. I am always very careful about ensuring my donations are one-time and not a subscription but somehow this ended up not being the case. The reviews of Change.Org indicate I am one of many falling victim to the unscrupulous behavior. The number above is not answered or monitored and directs you to their website. Their website is of now use and require you to set up an account in order to manage your payment method which sends up all kinds of red flags to me. I filed a petition on change.org. concerning the election of November 8th, 2022, that took place in Luzerne County ************. The petition was up and running for over 3 days and received approximately 500 signatures. I went to my profile on the change .org site to get a spreadsheet of the signatures and my petition was gone. I sent an email to the help desk to find out why my petition was taken down. 24 hours later, I received a message saying i voilated their policy. I read their policy and did not find any violation. I sent another email requesting to know the violation and asked for them to send me the spreadsheet with all 500 signatures. 24 hours later, I received another e mail from change.org asking what they could help me with and had the issue resolved. I then sent another email telling them once again I wanted to know what policy I violated and requested the spreedsheet once again of the 500 signatures. I have received no reply. In looking at reviews about Change.org, I have learned that the site, even though it's supposed to be a petition site for people to try and make a difference, I have learned that change.org is a bias siteBusiness Response

I am rejecting this response because: I believe I have already sent my rejection to you. Change.org has done nothing to help me in this matter. I Had sent several messages to them and received only one reply before sending my complaint to your office. All that email said was that my petition was removed. They refused to tell me what was wrong with my petition. I sent them over 5 emails. No response at all. After I filed my complaint with the BBB then I received a email with a whole list of items they said were possible misinformation. I then sent them an e-mail with 11 different reports along with the live podcast of all the Luzerne County election board meetings and Luzerne ************** meeting. Since then, I have heard nothing from them. They have not been in contact with me. All I want is the almost 500 signatures of people who signed my petition. Now I know that I sent you a copy of the email that was dated for December 1st after I filed a complaint with the BBB and I also sent a copy of the what the email said that I can see on the site here. Back in 2018, a petition was started on Change.org.Change.org/ToxicTide It has since received over 358K signatures. At that time Change.org allowed people to donate to help the causes/ Over $30,000 was received in donations. ************************* started the petition, she founded SWFL ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND, *** with ***********************. It was later rebranded to ******* Naturekeepers. Due to her health condition, I am the current President of the organization. After many attempts over years of asking for the money and access to the account that they shut off, we are asking for the money that was donated to the non-profit through the online petition.Change.org has said in their customer service response that they don't allow donations they just allow people to give to change.org tp they promote it to more people. That is their current system but I have attached a pdf of their current website to show that they had a fundraising tool and allowed donations in 2018.Change.org knowingly took the money as they shut off access to the account so it is impossible for me to show proof of funds currently.Business Response

We were able to identify the fundraiser associated with the petition you referenced, and we can confirm that all funds were automatically disbursed to the recipient in 2018. Approximately $2,511 was contributed by users between August and December 2018, and $2,373.06 was transferred to the recipient during the same period (which was the net amount after processing fees and chargebacks). That particular fundraising feature used a service called Stripe Connect to handle the credit cards and disbursements, which means the funds never actually passed through Change.org. The user who created the fundraiser linked it to a bank account through Stripe Connect, and the deposits were made automatically. We're happy to provide more details about the bank account and the individual deposits, but we would need a request directly from the original user or some kind of confirmation that you can inquire on the user's behalf. We're not sure where the "$30k" figure came from. Users did also purchase advertising for this petition to recruit more signers. I am rejecting this response because:I have attached a letter to show I can act on ******************'s behalf. I have included a screenshot from change.org that show $29,134.26 was donated. As they stated only a small portion on that was sent to the orginization. That still leaves the majority of the donations not sent.
****** didn't setup a Stripe account. We have tried many email address for ****** and none of them have an account with Stripe. Stripe Connect was connected with change.org and change.org has turned off admin rights to the account. There is no way for us to track the payments then.
Will you activate that account? Can you confirm the stripe info?The information I have is the bank is ********************** Account number *******, routing number *********. Do you have different information? There was an old account at First ******* ************** but I don't have that information.
If you have more informaiton on account information that was used with stripe, please share it.
Based on a 5.5% fee as your numbers show, there should have been $27,531.88 sent after fess. That leaves $25,158.82 missing based on information from change.org.

In terms of the account info - from what I can see, the account info you've shared is the account info that we have on file - so the money did go to the correct account.
However, it looks like we might have a bit of confusion happening. I see your screenshot of the $29k, and I went back into your petition to see what was going on. I see that that amount is actually under Promotions. Promotions are a way to make sure your petition is seen by more people. Supporters can chip in to make sure that your petition is highlighted for folks on our site, and by being more visible, you can get more signatures! This is not part of our previously active fundraising tool.
All money that was collected through the fundraising tool was sent to the account at ********************** The $29k was not part of that sum as it was to promote your petition. I am rejecting this response because:You removed admin access so there is no accounting. Donations were made and donors were not aware that change.org would keep the money for "promotion." If 29k was used by change, what was it used on other than paying employees. It seems like fraud to make people think they are donating to a cause but change.org to take the money and then just show that petition more on their site.
29k was donated, 29k is owed as a donated. It's fraid to make people think they are donating to one thing but then for change.org to take the money.
Removing admin access and ignoring me asking to turn that on seems like change.org is hiding things. There was no accounting for this "promotion" and no agreement that I know of that was signed that would allow money donated to the organization to all be used by this.
I am requesting the 29k plus 3% interest per year be given back.
****** is disabled. Change.org taking advantage of her is despicable and sad. She has sent emails for years without getting a reponse. Change.org did this intentionally. I will attach some emails.

We are happy to provide you with a full accounting of the $2,373.06 that was disbursed from this fundraiser in 2018. The records are maintained by Stripe, which transferred the donations directly to the user's bank account.
The reason you can't log into the admin dashboard for the fundraiser is because the entire feature was deprecated in 2019 for all users, not because it is specifically disabled for your organization.Users who chose to "promote" the petition did so through a completely separate feature that has been offered on all petitions for many years (long before and long after the fundraising feature was piloted). The user is clearly told the number of ad displays being purchased and can see a preview of how the ad may appear. The user is immediately sent a receipt detailing the promotion and then later sent a confirmation when all of the ad displays have been fulfilled. The promotion feature never referenced the fundraiser, never appeared alongside it, and never implied the proceeds would go to the petition starter. Detailed records of all advertising purchases and fulfillment are kept and audited. Provide an agreement between ****************** or the non-prioft and change.org that shows the agreement to allow donated funds to be taken by change.org for "promotion."

Please provide a copy of the emails that you claim were sent to ****** that detailed the promotional donations.
We are confident that there is no agreement and ****** stated that she did not receive multiple emails with an accounting of the 29K that was taken in. We don't need accounting of the 2k, we need accounting of the money that was taken by change.org.
We are confident that donors were not aware the money was all going to change.org to be used for "promotion."
We would like an accounting of costs inccurred by change.org from this "promotion" to justify changing around 27K.
If you can not provide this information, we would request payment of the money owed as calculated plus 3% yearly interest (inflation) for each year it wasn't paid.Let's be honest, change.org decided that taking a small % of the transactions wasn't enough so then they starting taking everything. This wasn't agreed to, this was fraud by change.org.
Please pay out all money that was taking from the orginization that is owed which I did the math in eariler emails.Please priovide us with all of the documentation that has been requested. So far Change.org has provided no documents regarding the account.

Date Of Transaction: October 27, 2022 Change. org is an Online Petition Platform. It identifies itself as a free service, but in reality it gains its funds from Petition Signers who want to support Specific Petitions in order to reach more supporters. In further research its also a paid service for selective groups, whereas they use the Decision Maker's contact info and people who signed published petitions information ( via Petition Preparers ) as their sources to render power for their paid selective groups. However, Change.org does not fulfill the performance for which they have claimed on the ********** Secretary of State Business Entity. There is clear deception used to get the petition preparer to follow policies and terms of service, devoting time, travel, multiple meetings and multiple discussions to prepare the petition within the perimeter. *************************** placed a petition on your site that does not involve her at all. The dispute involves a horse we sold to ***************************. The horses name is ********** Girls. Selling price was $150,000. She was to pay $50,000 down when picking up the horse. She gave me 2 checks for $25,000. She immediately stopped payment on both checks. She refuses to make the checks payable or return the horse. We have filed charges against her and she has an arrest warrant. She turned to ******** saying that she had payed for the horse and we were lying. I have copies of the returned checks as well as the police report. We have been one of the top breeders of American Quarter Horses for the last several years. We have no reason and stand to gain nothing by lying about this transaction.Claims made about me on ******** by competitors and people that have never met me, spoken with me, or had any business dealings with me have signed this petition. All the claims are untrue. Ive been accused of being a drug addict, convicted felon, animal abuser, wife beater and just all around bad person, None of this can be backed up with one bit of evidence because they are all untrue. My only crime conviction is for criminal littering. I had just had a Radical Prostatectomy and took my trash dumpster down my long driveway every Sunday for a Monday pick-up. For 3 weeks I was skipped and I had to pull the dumpster back up the driveway. After 3 weeks I loaded it in my truck and deposited on city hall steps..turns out thats CRIMINAL LITTERING. GUILTY AS CHARGED. I admit it. But thats my only conviction and is not a felony as claimed.This is effecting my business because people believe anything they read nowadays. If its on ******** or Change.org it must be true. I humbly ask you remove this erroneous and unfounded petition defaming me and my wife.
